View Full Version : Durant has better handles than Lebron

SyRyanYang

Deron William is still one of the best passing PGs along with Nash, Rondo and CP3.
Durant benefits more playing alongside Russell than the other way around.
Brooks Lopez is by far the best offensive center in the league, even if Bynum returns healthy.
Kobe loses his privilege to blame teammates and jack up shots when he stops playing defense.
Andray Blatche still has all-star potential.
Flopping is overrated and exaggerated, poor Blake.
Wade needs to post up more.

Just a few of my opinions, will add later.

CP3 has better love handles than both of them.

I agree with all of these pretty much except Durant's handles are more IMPRESSIVE not better. He turns it over a lot last I checked but his handle for a 7 footer (he is) are amazing I'll give you that. He has a nasty crossover anyway you slice it too.

Yes Durant has improved his ballhandling, but his ballsecurity/ballcontrol is not close to Lebron.... thats the biggest reason to why Lebron managed to be drafted as a PG, has started PG, used as a PG and is a "Point-Forward" doing PG duties 24-7 etc....

To understand what ballcontrol/ballsecurity is... Give Durant the ball and let him bring the ball up with full court pressure entire game.... and if he manages to not turn the ball over so much while still running the offense keeping the dribble alive & safe, orchestrates the offense.... even for one single god damn game... i will only then say he has better handles...

Durant's handles are sloppy. Impressive for his size, but not nearly as effective as LeBron with the dribble.

Not really.
But both of them are better than Kobe.

No this handles are not straight up better than Lebron's.

They may be better in relation to his height though. Like the gap between handles for Durant and your average 6'11 player is larger than the gap between Lebron's handles and the average 6'9 player.

This, Durant has great handles for at 7 feet. LeBron has average point guard handles.

Anyone who remotely knows about basketball will tell you Lebron's handles are much better. It'll take 2 minutes of watching both of them to see who's handles are better. I know they are your opinions but some of them are ****ing stupid and wrong.

most of you guys suck at basketball discussion. Relating "handles" to the ability to protect the basketball is incorrect.

example. if your in a pickup game, and you notice someone that is a strong ball protector, you dont say "man that guy got handles".

but someone that has a repertoire of dribbles and moves, you would consider him to have handles.

so yes, having seen durant and lebron, durant has better handles than lebron. but lebron has better ball security.

:wtf:

You need to have a good ball security to have a good handles. Having fancy dribbling skills is not freaking called good handles if you keep turning it over.

Lebron was able to bring the ball up against the great Piston pressure defense. Durant would be a train wreck in that scenario.

What you are discussing there (bringing the ball up against pressure defense) involves Lebron's speed and agility as well as his handles.

We are discussing just handles alone.

Now, of course, the end result (being able to break guys down and penetrate in the half court offense, or being able to bring the ball up the court against pressure defense) is what matters and it is pointless to try and break down the process into it's individual parts...but all we are talking about is the one part right now (pure handles).

...having said all that though, Lebron still wins here. Put him and Durant in the same body with the same amount of agility and speed and Lebron would be able to do more. Or have him and Durant stand there in one spot with a basketball and tell them to dribble the ball around like crazy...Lebron will be able to do more.

Some people are incredibly dumb. LeBron has a garbage handle, while he is a great ball protector. He has absolutely no moves with the ball other than put his head down and bullrush the rim.

There is a MAJOR difference between ball handling and ball protection. Durant's TOV rate is 12.3%, which is quite similar to 2 of the greatest ball handlers of all time, Iverson @ 12.2, and Jamal Crawford @ 12.3.

Nobody said Durant matches Lebrons dribbling moves (except OP and you and a Durant stan like 28renyoy), Lebron has much more dribble moves than Durant you damn cretins.... but what sepparates him even further as a ballhandler is his ballcontrol/ballsecurity.....

LeBron has better handle.

Durant is nice for his size, and given his length his crossover works really well, but stop.

LeBron is 6'8 with LEGIT point guard caliber handles.

Lebron has very little creativity with his dribbling. He picks a side and charges.. Throws a spin in there if the defender picks the right side to jump to.

Go watch Kyrie Irving, deron Williams, and jamal Crawford if you want to see handles.. Crossovers directly into spins, behind the back into a cross, hesitation to one side and then cross, cross between the legs a few times and then explode with a quicker regular cross once the defender gets accustomed to the pattern, just stringing combos of moves together to break ankles. Bron has none of that.. He's just raw power and control with zero flashiness besides his passing and dunking.

i could go on and on and on and on.... and Lebron does those moves consistently/efficiently without fumbling the ball like Durant does more often when he tries to attempt to do something similar....

Lebron has the best ballhandling at that size and over since only Magic Johnson for a reason and is compared to Magic not just because he can simply PASS the ball..... :facepalm

Considering the greatest ballhandler of all time Isiah Thomas said: "Lebron has better handles than Magic & Jordan" ..... what would that then make Durant? The best ballhandler of all time???

lol @ the only and best point-forward in the NBA and one of the best point-forwards ever "not being even the best dribbler at SF"..... dont be silly now STANS

Only a lebron hater would even think of saying something stupid as this, better yet expressing it, even in a forum...

LMAO @ the concept that LeBron just bulls his way to the rim. Riiiiight. Total myth, the guy has finesse and skill in his game. ESPECIALLY off the dribble.

I specifically remember him crossing the FUKK out of Pierce in game 6 before a monstrous dunk.

I remember him BREAKING Brandon Bass in transition off a cross en route to another DIESEL throw down.

I've seen him put in and outs on people.

No one remembers in the 2011 playoffs v.s. the Sixers where he went between the legs, behind the back and shook the Sixers PG in the process and then dumped off a ridiculous no look pass to Wade for the dunk?

No one's saying lebron's never crossed somebody up:facepalm he handles the ball so much there's gonna be highlights of him making moves. He CAN be creative with his handles but his play style has never been about lulling defenders to sleep and exploding. He dribbles the ball at the top of the key til he sees a shift in the defense he likes and then he explodes. Sometimes he'll cross you and shoot a step back. But his handles aren't creative for the most part. He's a straight line control ballhandler.

tpols
01-04-2013, 02:03 AM
Lol at some of your highlights pauk. One named 'sick crossover' was lebron catching the ball in the triple threat taking one dribble to his left crossing over once and dunking it. He took TWO dribbles and it was the simplest move of all time. That's what Bron is simple but very effective. He doesn't have to waste motion on multiple cross because he can explode by you with one or two at the most. He rarely if ever luls people to sleep with quick back and forth change of pace moves

depends on what you mean by handels. Durant has better moves...crossover hesitation dribble etc. but james has better control mostly due to the fact that james isnt as lanky as durant and generally doesnt really attempt flashy moves like killer crossovers or what have you....james is first step bully.

So he should be punished for being a smart ball handler?
he is smart for recognizing his own limitations as a dribbler but that doesn't mean he's a great ball handler

people don't understand what ball handling and dribble skills actually means. Lebron is very nascent when it comes to those things, he rarely does anything special with the ball, it's always simple straight north south drive with him. His size and speed makes his simple handles effective but that doesnt' mean his ball handling is good, it's just compensated by everything else.

Look at a guy like Jamal Crawford, that's handles.
