View Full Version : Being muslim and wearing a hijab while using skinny jeans..

Something that always makes me confused is this stupidity.

It's very common in Sweden and I've seen alot of it in the UK and some in the US as well.

Muslim women who wear the hijab while also wearing skinny jeans. It's the most stupid thing ever and it doesn't make any sense at all. It's one thing if you're forced to wear the hijab while living in a muslim country where it's a must to do so. But women who live in free and democratic countries who wear the hijab for religious purposes, what sense does it make to wear skinny jeans with your booty all out while hiding your hair.. :facepalm

Haha, the example you showed isn't even that bad. It's actually more confounding here in Chicago. Go walk around Devon ave. and you'll see women wearing the hijab while dressed relatively provocatively. I mean everything is usually covered, but you can can see their figure which completely defeats the purpose of the hijab lifestyle. I mean don't get me wrong, women can wear what they want and it's fine by me, but it's obvious that most chicks who wear it do so to show how they're different and somehow better than the rest. My wife used to wear it too but stopped doing it because she felt it was hypocritical unless you're going all out.

I don't buy that. No parents would make the chick wear the hijab but let her wear tight clothes.

I see it no differently than hypocrites in other religions. How many Christian church goers follow every thing they learn in church? Most people pick and choose what aspects of their religion they will follow. For some of these women, it is a moral compromise they make with themselves. And yes, there can be major family and parental influences too, and those parents may make the compromise of letting their daughters wear the tighter clothes they want to wear as long as they still wear their hijab.

Why is this an issue again?

Personally I'm not religious and I couldn't care less about religion but I do still respect people no matter what religion they believe in.

And this is not a try to knock on muslims or Islam, I just find the hypocrisy to be hilarious. And I don't believe in parental influence when it comes to this, wearing really tight and revealing clothing while covering your hair, really? That doesn't make sense.

I hear you about just pointing out the hypocrisy.

I totally believe the parental influence thing, because I've seen it. Like I said, many parents make compromises and only fight the battles worth fighting. I can see the hijab being more important to Muslim or Islam parents than tight clothes because if you convince them to wear the hijab, they will likely wear it for life. The tight fitting clothes will only likely remain in their youth. The parents can view that as a fad while the hijab remains. The hijab is also for more than just modesty. It is also a veil to separate humans from God. That part remains true to them even if they are not dressing modestly otherwise. It is also symbolic overall for their values.

I was thinking more on an individual basis rather than on a grand scale. Religion gives many purpose, feelings of happiness, hope, additional motivation to be good people, etc. This includes Islam. Most Islamic people are just as good of people as most Christians, Jewish people, Atheists, etc.

I'm not a fan of most organized religions and the systems they create because people use them as justification for hate and judgment, but it can be great for people individually.

I myself am agnostic by the way.

But to be fair Islam has been hi-jacked plenty of times by different regimes and leaders all over the world, like Iran.

With that said I'm still not a big fan of Islam or any other religiion but it's important to be fair when it comes to criticism.

I agree about that it gets messy when the masses go extreme but the masses doesn't really represent these extremists. There are 1.6 billion muslims in the world and the likes of Fox News trying to label the muslim world as extremists is not really equal with the truth.

I think it's interesting and an excellent source of humor and a subject to properly satire.

And it's the case with the vast majority of Muslim girls. Every single last one of them, no matter how chaste or pure constantly thinks about love and consequentially getting fukked. Know how i know?

The same can be said of people who deliberately call themselves azzholes and jerks and take pride in their azzholery. Some of these caustic, vitriol-filled people who pretend to act mean and put on this grumpy facade are often extraordinarily resourceful, honest, and have enormous value in aiding others. Talk about a backfire.

People who are walking contradictions are amongst the most fascinating people in the planet.

The mere fact that they lack the self-awareness to act in complete congruency immediately captures my attention. How could you be so blind to your own inconsistencies?

How? Oh yeah. A lack of self-reflection. People use a sh!t laods of "I's" and "me's" and will selff-aggrandizing and self-efface and brag and put themselves down whenever, wherever, but they can't see the tree for the leaves. Here's a fukking thought. Most don't give a damn if you're ugly or worthless or rich and handsome. They're interested in what you can do for them point blank period and you ought to be interested in why you act the way you do.

I bet the entire low self esteem epidemic can be fixed if people just kill their silly fukking vanity and realize they're really not that bad.

Other situations I find funny is how

Feminists seem to hate white males but tells people not to speak ill of Black people or Muslims who flat out have smacked their women time after time again. But maybe they secretly crave dominance and control?

Children on the verge of adulthood like to talk about how eager they are to drive or to have extended bedtimes, but when push comes to shove they go on autopilot in the car and they miss their sleep.

Anti-conformists and conspiracy theorists like to call people sheep

People like to say I like people with good taste in music. Lol....... Okay...

Parents say sh!t like "you're gonna thank me now"

People like to make fun of how stupid bodybuilders or athletes are, but the second they're faced with the biochemistry responsible for the diets, or the strategy incorporated in creating a program conducive to growth.. they dumb out.

Christianity is still the biggest religion. I said mainstream religion. Islam has been a mainstream religion for hundreds of years, maybe even a millennium. In that time, it's definitely had some big peaks to go along with some major dips. The last 100 or so years haven't been good for it's reputation, but things can change again like they did for Christianity.

I guess that you live in The Netherlands and that you're talkng about Van Gogh, that crime was beyond disgusting.

Extremism in Islam is more common compared to other big religions, I guess that has mainly to do with the fact that alot of muslim countries are lead by propaganda loving leaders and disgusting regimes and sooner or later the people get brainwashed. Look at a country like Iran, a shitty regime who hi-jacked Islam and used it and still do as a way of terror and a brain washing method. Sooner or later the propaganda gets to the people.

But still, around 23% of the world population are muslims and only an idiot would call out them for being extremists as a group.

It's the same here too. Some of the muslim girls wear tiny skirts and shirts and the headscarfs. I think it's more a "**** YOU" at their parents that they dress like that with the headscarfs.

We have two different muslim communities in NY it feels like, one that is totally integrated with everyone else and one that keeps itself separate, much like the Hasidics in Brooklyn do (the closest comparison i can think of). They act put upon like they'd rather not be here. Which makes no sense to me, separating oneself to me feels like you'd lose opportunity, and losing opportunity to me isn't something i like personally. I want the choice of everything....

That's interesting. I think you get that isolated type of people with every minority group with a sizeable population though. Where I live Muslims barely talk to each other and are fully integrated, but Mexicans will stick together and more or less look down on people who go outside the community for marriage etc.

If there is a disproportionate amount of extremism, intolerance and barbarism within Islamic communities they absolutely do need to be called out as a group.

This politically sensitive nonsense where you can't pragmatically deal with reality for fear of being a racist or bigot is detrimental to human development.

What do you suggest on repairing this dilemma? Enacting anti-immigration laws? It's a very tough situation Netherlands.

Do you like the way Sarkozy and Putin dealt with it? France's call to ban the hijab was a bit excessive methinks.

I agree overall, though. There are way too many situations, especially in the Sweden and U.K. where the Muslims are hell-bent on creating parallel societies and have very antagonistic and polarizing attitudes.

If we are to all coexist peacefully in this blended vegetable garden, aggressive weeds must be plucked or neutralized. Most American Muslims have assimilated and are living peacefully at one with their neighbors. It seems like Indonesian, Balkan, and East African Muslims are being pretty cool and civil as well.
