View Full Version : New York Knicks (23-11) vs. Indiana Pacers (21-14), 8:00 PM EST on TNT

Knicks are playing mediocre while Pacers are rising.

Knicks are 5-6 in last 11 games.
Pacers are 11-3 in last 14 games.

And, of course, Pacers have one of toughest defenses in league....a game Knicks truly need Melo.....and he's suspended. :facepalm

Oh well, let's play some basketball.

If Felton was playing I would have said our chances to win this one were solid.

But with both Felton and Melo out the only guy that can put pressure on the defense is J.R.
Considering the Pacers have been playing great recently and the Knicks have been playing like doodoo I don't really give much of a chance to the Knicks.

With that said I hope someone will step up and surprise the Pacers just like they did to the Heat earlier in the season.

this is how the game will be played tonight.

either 1. jr smith hit a winning shot at the buzzer (again)
or 2. knicks got blown out in the 1st,2nd,and 3rd quarter, but managed to minimize the losing margin to just 5-10 points at the end of the game

I've just played the game on NBA 2k13. Knicks won 102-98 after being down by 15 in the 2nd quarter.

Tyson had a monster game. J.R. scored 20+. Copeland and Amare were solid. Jason Kidd shot the ball poorly but had 9 assists.

Let's see how close 2k13 is to reality :D

The Pacers are playing very solid without Danny Granger. The Nets play them on Sunday but I'm not looking past the Suns tomorrow night.

With that said I hope the Pacers win tonight. The Pacers suffocation defense is going to make the Knicks turn the ball over a lot. The Knicks need very crisp execution and cannot take bad shots. I think the Pacers win this game pretty comfortably. Amare will probably log major minutes tonight as well, but that will just help the Pacers front line.:lol

The lineup is extremely thin. The Knicks haven't been without Carmelo and Felton in the same game. Too many things would need to go right for the Knicks to win this game so I have Pacers at 96-85. It should be a very solid game but when the Pacers make a run, which Knick will stop the bleeding? JR? Well, we'll shortly find out.

niko

Looking for Knicks to cut Kurt and sign Kenyon sometime this weekend. I would expect they'll give him a FY guaranteed vet minimum since he can hold signing with the Lakers over them. Good for Net fans, maybe they can celebrate a title for J.Kidd and Martin (god willing) in their own backyard. :D

BTW lost in the Garnett retardation and Anthony hot headedness was the fact that Amare looked like a competent player, especially on offense. He was an asset out there. How long has it been since we could say that?

:lol But really whats his deal? Got rich and stopped trying?I don't know. He's had some kind of injury in his shooting wrist all year, said it feels like he's shooting with a stump, but it can't be that bad since he hasn't missed any time and he's playing great D. It's not a different offense or anything, he's getting the same kind of looks.

He is getting a little better, he's up around 45% or so over the last 10.

The pacers really need this win. They've had a really bad start to the season and are finally starting to rise. They're currently 3rd in the east and look to move to 2nd. A knocks loss and pacers win would move them a whole game closer.

So is Paul George on his way to becoming something like a poor man's Durant? Or is he going to be another borderline All-Star who shows flashes of being elite like Rudy Gay and Luol Deng? I don't remember where Deng and Gay were in their third seasons, so George might actually be further along in his third season than they were. Maybe a poor man's Durant is what Gay and Deng already are? I don't know, Durant doesn't really seem like a good comparison for either of them, especially Deng who's a much more consistently good defender.

Knicks defense has been solid all game long but they just didn't have enough offense when they needed it most. 6 points scored in the 4th with just over 2 minutes left. :facepalm

Well,at least this game made Melo's MVP case look stronger.

How can it make Melo MVP case looks any better, melo is the one sabotage his team by allowing his immaturity to get himself suspended. Last I check leadership is important in MVP talk.

That Pacers defense. Shoot just 39% themselves but get the win by holding the Knicks to 35% shooting.

The Knicks are slipping a little bit but still not in bad position at 23-12, but they're 4-6 in their last 10 games and 1.5 games up on the Pacers for 2nd in the East.

This is the basketball that the Pacers like to play whenever I watch them, I think they're team is built for a solid playoff run just like last year, they can contend with the Heat for a little while for a tough 6 (MAYBE 7) game series. I wish the Jazz had Vogel as head coach.

lol goes to show Melo's impact on the Knicks is ENORMOUS. Wish we had a 2nd star on this team...Amare is done.

BTW I feel like Hibbert never plays a good game against us.

And on another note, Reggie Miller makes me laugh sometimes. i remember him calling David West the best stretch 4 in the league (or something to that effect), and saying that the only other guy who's in that convo is Dirk. :lol yes Reggie, Dirk could only hope to be as great as David West...

I think people need to give Pacers some credits for the defense, they hold both the Heat and Knicks to below 80pts. Its not like Knicks missing Melo is that big of a deal, at least Miami aint missing any players last night.

With no Melo I just wanted a good game & I got it. A win would've been spectacular but I'll settle for a close one.

I'm looking forward for this 2 games in 9 days stretch for the Knicks after we host the Hornets Sunday , they might get back Felton & Shump somewhere in that stretch & the Knicks need more practices together with all these new pieces.

Pacers pretty much replaced the Hawks in the standings, only 1.5 games away from us.

Besides, if you watched the game there's absolutely no reason to cry about refs.

They had Felton that game. Without Melo and Felton there's no one who can attack the basket (J.R.Smith occasionally) so they don't really put much pressure on the defense.
Simply put: Knicks have no offense without Melo and Felton.

Come on man,the refs were fine. We didn't lose because of them. We lose because we couldn't score. It was obvious even before the game that the Knicks are going to have a hard time putting the ball through the hoop. The game just confirmed it.

My first time watching the Pacers this season and a couple of quick things.

They have suffocating one on one defense and their help defense is only good when Roy Hibbert is playing consistent and altering shots. When he wasn't in the game, Ian Mahinmi was playing very solid help defense but this is clearly not a traditional game from Ian. He had a season best game tonight.

Their offense is bad because they don't take any good shots. Of all their shots tonight only about 6 were shots off ball movement and screen action. For a team with limited offensive talent they should try to get good shots. They need more screens from the center position and their guards should come off screens to get open shots.

It will be interesting to watch them against the Nets because the Pacers pride themselves on one on one defense. Unfortunately, one on one defense against the Nets will be an advantage to the Nets but we'll see how it plays out.

Knicks losing a lot of games recently and their schedule only gets difficult in these next couple of weeks.

I just hope the Nets find a way to break down the Pacers defense, which has been terrific lately holding the Heat and Knicks to below 80pts. If we score 95+pts, we should win that game.

Like I mentioned, the Pacers are a stellar one on one defensive team. The Nets would love if Joe, and Deron don't get double teamed. It will be interesting to see how the Pacers handle having to double every time Joe and Deron touch the ball. And the Pacers are a very weak P&R defensive team. The Nets thrive in P&R's. Oh well, the Pacers are for real and it will be an exciting game.

But this is a Knicks game thread. Let's not talk about the Nets.:lol

Although I find it hilarious how every time the Knicks are on TNT, Charles brings up the Nets.:oldlol:
