View Full Version : Royce White:

[QUOTE]We are all well aware that Royce White likes to saves his rants for his Twitter followers, but as a one off, he sat down with ESPN to talk about what has been going on between him and the Rockets over the past several months. The problem with Twitter is that it isn’t easy to explain everything in 140 characters. And by the time that he’s sent one Tweet and moved on to the next, he’s already had a flood of responses from either supporters or haters which he feels the need to respond.

So, when I saw the interview on my YouTube page, I sat there thinking that a two minute conversation with ESPN would be a good stage for him to explain himself and re-gain the support of NBA fans around the world. Well, I was wrong.

In fact, I was very, very, very wrong because Royce only added fuel to the fire.

“To them, it feels like I’m high maintenance. I’m only high maintenance because you’re uneducated.”

Unlike the old clich

I have a very bad anxiety disorder. I had a panic attack last night and had a hard time fighting through it... extremely difficult. Shallow breathing, lightheaded, racing heart, etc... too many symptoms to list.

In that youtube video he admits he knew flying would be an issue all along.

He says people are uneducated... I say he's an inconsiderate, greedy, lying sack of shit prick... again, this coming from someone that knows exactly what bad anxiety is all about.

If he knew that there would be an issue, which he did, he should have never entered the NBA. Or if he wanted to give it a shot to see if it would work at the least he should agree to his contract being voided.

He knows damn good and well he's not able to fulfill the contract he signed... AND HE KNEW THAT GOING INTO IT... so he should give the money up.

He says it's about the principle... I say bullshit. It's clearly about the money.

**** this douchebag.

Now, if he were to give the money up and then continue with the cause... my view on him would change somewhat. Until then... **** him.

Anyone who struggles with panic attacks does so because they are uneducated. What a moron. He's an NBA star and he can't afford and doesn't know about Iboga? :biggums: :biggums: :biggums: :biggums:

That's not true. Now... the ability to "cure" themselves lies within the mind, for sure, but it's easier said than done.

My biggest problem with Royce is he doesn't seem willing to compromise. He comes off as expecting the Rockets to create special rules just for him all while insulting them. Just doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

He's high maintenance because he needs more resources than other NBA players to even start playing basketball for the team. It's not opinion, it's fact no matter how he looks at it. Aside from the large contracts, other rookies didn't require much from their team before they started playing. White is being dumb. The Rockets don't need him, he needs the Rockets more.

He's behaving totally the opposite of what a person with social anxiety would behave. Some people with SA may play the victim card like White is doing but most wouldn't do it in the same fashion that he is.

don't fall into his trap of getting sympathy from people trying hard to be politically correct. he wants to get a lot of minutes without the work and hes using his condition to get attention, hes a douche

He's doing every thing he can to try and keep that guaranteed money. He's not trying to play ball, or work through his condition. Hopefully the Rockets just fine + suspend him until he decided to show up for the D-league games he was assigned to.

Also, Royce is doing a disservice to future players with anxiety issues... because nobody is going to waste a 1st round pick (guaranteed money) after this debacle.

If he actually stated something specific, then I'd have more sympathy for him. All he states is that the team isn't providing a safe environment. I'm no professional nor do I know what's best, but I think it'd be better if he just dominate the D-League and then start making real demands when the team wants to call him up instead of doing nothing basketball productive.

I don't even know who he is.

I quickly wikipedia'd him and googled him. And oh okay, he's that guy that was the inspiration for a hilarious thread of photoshopped pics with him dunking with a parachute while there was his personal bus in the background, his doctors watching him, and a safety mat placed under the rim.

I don't give a f about him, but i hope he stays in the league and drives a bus around every where because he'd make for some hilarious threads.

this ****er is basically telling the rockets to give him playing time because his (personal) doctors think it's going to be good for his confidence. Like seriously? Does he think the NBA is his personal therapy session? And of course when he had the opportunity to get playing time; go play for d-league he's too good for that shit. I wish the rockets could sue him and get back every penny.

Well said.

WTF does his proposed protocols even mean?

He wants them to acknowledge he has a mental illness? Everyone knows he does, Royce has made sure of that.

The other two protocols are so vague and don't even make sense. What exactly does he want the Rockets to do for him?

Well said, again.

I actually had a hard time reading his letter. Even before he failed to even define his protocol, it sounded as tho it had just been pasted together.

I think he's very transparent. I hope that he has real concerns for other players and people with anxiety issues. If he does, he might actually turn around and eventually accept that he's wrong. Without that, he'll be hurting a lot of people in the process.

I think he's deluded into believing what he says. But that isn't because he doesn't know better. He's selfish and irresponsible, spoiled and pompous. He knows how to turn his anxiety on and off.

Fvck that. He's a public figure now that intentionally started a "crusade." It's up to him to learn how to carry himself in interviews, not up to the rest of the world to adjust themselves because he's an awkward douche.

The guy has dug a HUGE hole for himself with how he's approached the whole situation. He's far from blind to it as well, considering how active he is on Twitter, and replying to/retweeting "hater" tweets. Or should I say, the uneducated?

I can't see him suddenly swallowing his pride and making a real go of this now seeing as he's happily pushed the Rockets, and himself into this embarrassing situation for all concerned.

What really irritates me lately is how vague he is, even now he's doing more media interviews etc. He calls out the Rockets, and the general public for being uneducated on anxiety disorders, and his own personal needs. So use this chance in the limelight to educate! Instead he pussyfoots around what exactly he wants and what he claims he needs, and always gives veiled responses.

I dont see why they just dont tell him to just stay in Houston and let him play junk minutes at home games. Realize that this year is probably a lost cause for him so base him in Houston full time, not expect him to travel for the rest of this year, and let him periodically play in home games while actively trying to form a plan so that he can travel next season.

The thing is he han't even turned up to practice and stuff (well the Rockets have suspended him now, but even before he didn't come), so what kind of message does that send to the other rookies if Royce just strolls in and plays blowout minutes when they've busted their asses every week to try and get playing time? The Rockets already set a precedent by treating Royce White differently from ANY other rookie in the history of the NBA, to give him actual NBA playing time when he has done f**k all would be an insult to other rookies.

Yes well i didnt mean the very next game. He obviously would have to honour the commitments of practice and other such obligations. I meant that he should be told that he is not expected to travel for the rest of the year, but that he is expect to reside permanently in Houston, be regularly at practice, and when the team is on road trips he is still expected to work out at Houston's practice facilities. After he makes those commitments then i would start playing him. He clearly does have mental issues and since none of us know how they really affect him or how severe they really are we have to take his word for it. Houston has to go one of two ways, cut all ties and move on or accommodate him, i think that letting him stay in Houston and not making him travel shows a big commitment to productively approaching the problem in the short term and enables him to get onto the court while also preparing to solve the longer term issues that will confront him if his career spans a long time because if he gets into a good space which hopefully this would do he would probably be more willing to cooperate

when he goes on twitter rages he sounds like a complete ignorant shitstick. He expects people to bend over backwards simply because. I understand his want for people to have a better understanding of this thing, but not everyone's ills get that kind of attention

He wants a special doctor by his side, which the rockets would foot the bill.

If he would have been upfront and honest about this thing before he was drafted, but he can't expect them to bend over backwards for him now. Void his contract and let him take busses to DLeague games
