I like cats for those reasons.. dogs are more personable, but cats are often more sensible..

Only thing about cats is that they act like they own you instead of the other way around

if you're late feeding them? they will bang on your door and give you the business all the way to the food bowl when you finally feed them

Cats are cool, had 'em my whole life. They go about their business, I go about mine, we hang out for a bit sometimes and then get back to our lives. It's a low maintenence deal.

I have both, my cat is 10 years old, my Doberman is 4.

Always had cats but this is my last one. They will act like they miss you when you come back, you start petting them, and after a while they will bite you without warning. They don't care about your orders. They see each piece of furniture or carpet as a giant scratch pad. For those that say that they're low maintenance, they're not. Too much hair, scratching, hairballs, litter to clean.

As for dogs, specially a protecting species like my Dobe, they will literally guard you with their life. They are fiercely loyal yet gentle when people they know are around them. Plus dogs will still love you like nothing happened if you kick their ass. Do that to a cat and it will plot revenge by chewing your computer cables.

Cats are PHUCKING useless. They all make your house smell the same. They jump up on your kitchen counters, hide in random ass places, make your house smell like Monica Lewinsky's @sshole.

That is some real specific information there.

I used to have a cat and enjoyed her a lot. Now I have a dog and I like it much better. Gets totally psyched to see you when you've been away for a while, I met way more of neighbors as I walk around the neighborhood, (since we're New Yorkers we still often don't know each other's names, but I know their dog's names.) I can take my dog to my local bar and everyone there loves her.

I also have a particularly cute dog and if I was a single young man, I would look into getting a cute dog, I've had probably hundreds of women who want to meet my dog and it so much easier to talk to women who are already smiling and joyous. (She's a seriously cute dog, also since I live in an area with a tourists, there must be dozens of photos of her in Japan.)

I think people who love dogs are a bunch of attention wh*res who probably aren't getting any attention from anyone else. After owning dogs all my life, I kind of like a pet that doesn't get all sad if I don't pet it every 5 minutes. I also have a couple of labs and these pieces of sh*t would just literally sit there and stare at me if I don't give them attention. They give me this look like they are literally ready to lick my balls, anuss, or whatever they need to do in order to get me to pay attention to them. As for the argument that cats are not great protectors, that is simply not true. A cat is loyal if you own them at birth to 6 months and they are a lot more vicious than a dog. Ever seen a cat go at it with a bear, yes, they have youtube vids of that. They are smart and they will protect you if you are a good owner.

I agree, I am not a big fan of having pets at all since it's a selfish act but cats are very domesticated. Other animals like turtles, fish and birds are shouldn't be called pets because it's pure animal abuse.

But I totally agree with cats, GOAT pet.

Cats are loyal.. They greet you when you come home.. They are your friend when you have no other friends..

Cats don't do whatever you say.. Thats the difference. Someone bragged earlier about beating a dog's ass and the dog still loving you..

If you beat your cat it will fight back, and you will have a new enemy (of course because it is scared of you after that)

That's the main reason why I prefer cats. Dogs are loyal and great for the family, but I love having my cat. It's way more relaxing living with a cat in comparison to a dog. She's also more intelligent than my parents dog was. Plus cats usually live longer.

Yeah, it really pisses me off when I meet someone who declaws their cats. If you are too lazy to teach it to use a scratching post, then you shouldn't have a ****ing cat. All you have to do it teach it to scratch a post and to piss in a box and the cat will give you no trouble for the next 10 years.

yep...cats are infinitely easier to take care of...I had a cat and a dog and recently had to get rid of my dog because I have a baby now and my dog was a biter...

taking care of a cat for me = tending to the litter box and filling his and water dish up once a week....and that is IT

taking care of a dog is a daily chore...they have to be walked and given attention on a regular

I can also go on vacation for a week without having to worry about my cat...a dog you have to do something about which is a pain

niko
02-14-2014, 05:46 PM
I like both. I'm not sure both like you though. I had a dog, a little yorkie. She accidentally ran into this enormous Irish Wolfhound, decided I was in danger, and stood in front of me ready to battle it out. She'd have lasted all of 3 seconds, but she'd have gladly taken it to protect us.

Cats if you are in danger more than likely will bail to save themselves.

But i had a great cat for 11 years and my dog for 12 before she passed. They overlapped for 2 years, my dog thought my cat was the greatest thing in the history of the universe. The cat tolerated her worship.

Cats are easier but there is something to be said about being able to walk with the dog, run around the park, etc.

I was REALLY REALLY close to getting a serval at one point in my life...I have a seller lined up in Florida and everything. After doing lots and lots of reading I eventually decided against it because apparently they are such a pain in the ass to take care of, and if they ever see daylight then you can kiss them goodbye, they are gone. But they are one of the only exotic big cats that can make for decent pets, and they get like Cheetah size.

All in all though, exotic cats shouldn't ever be pets...

Not an octopus but a squid has a story about getting out of the tank i love. In an aquarium, there was a person who cleaned the tank and one day the squid got too close and the guy hit it with the pole. The squid went after the guy and he actually had to be saved by another diver.

Squid got moved to another smaller tank sometime a few years later. More than 10 years after the initial incident the person returned to the aquarium and walked by the tank, where the squid was on the floor, trying to get at the person. He got out of the tank somehow to attack his enemy he remembered.

Those things fascinate me.

I have four years old cat named chili. He suffered from allergies because I didn't know what he eats when he's outside. I tried to put him in a cage but I can see that he's uncomfortable that's why It didn't last long. I just lock my doors and windows to prevent him from going outside. I also used Tinctures (https://41naturals.com/brands/charlottes-web) for pet to get rid of his allergies. I'm so happy that he's now okay and active.

Any cat lovers in here. I've had dogs all my life and I've only had a cat for 2 years but damn this little fella is a better pet than all the dogs I've had. He's clean, loyal, and much smarter. Any else feel the same way.

I like abusing them

Cats are alright but can be arrogant at times.

Never understood why some guys proudly boast about their hatred of cats. It's not macho.

Medium rare, a little pickle relish....
