I stand by what I posted. In the same post I acknowledge that right now it is hard to make a case for lbj since shaq played his full career but I fully expect bronzy to retire higher on the GOAT list than 5, 6 or 7 where shaq is at right now. Bronzy since 2009 has been very dominant and has been on a similar level to shaq and at the rate and durability he has been at he will have many chances to rank up the accolades as he is only 28.

Is this guy serious? The finals was probably Dirk's worst series in the playoffs, he dominated the Lakers and the Thunder. He had a 48 point game on 15 shots in game 1 of the WCF and shot over 70 TS% for the series. This was not that long ago kid. And Wade was better than Lebron vs the Celtics and in the Finals.

I can't get the stats to work but having watched both players in the playoffs I will say that lbj was on par with dirk who also had an amazing playoffs. Keep in mind that this obviously excludes the finals where bron was shit and dirk was very good. Bron was the best defender on his team and he carried the team against chicago with numerous clutch plays. Dirk did the same thing for his team carrying them past okc. Bron had an amazing series against the celtics at the same time that dirk was playing the lakers. First round I don't remember how dirk did against the nuggets but I will concede that dirk had much tougher competition than bron who was going up against the sixers.

2009 is very arguable for Kobe and Wade
Regular season, Wade is slightly better individually than Bron. But Bron carried a team to 60 + wins.

In the playoffs, it's no competition. Even falling one round shorter than Kobe, thanks to Mo Williams, LeBron's post season was MUCH more dominant.

So combining the success of both season, I think LeBron is the safest pick for best player in 2009.

2010 is very arguable for Kobe
With the playoffs? Sure. LeBron quit after game 3. In the regular season LeBron was no question the better player.

2011 was Dirk, no argument
Yes, there is argument. I wouldn't say Bron was the best, because Miami had two guys putting up the same numbers, so context kills that ...

Rose and Dwight were the best regular season players that year, given context.

But Dirk has never been the all around better player compared to LeBron. Bron quit on the Heat in the Finals and they beat themselves. Hell, prior to Wade's injury, Dirk wasn't even the hands down "no argument" best player in that series.

As for 2012 and 2013? No question, LeBron James is EASILY the best player in the league. By quite a size able margin, too. Only reason he won't get another DESERVED MVP is voter fatigue, and the obligatory push for Kevin make 13 FG and get 50 points Durant.

LA Lakers

Kobe has been top 4-5 this year right there with Paul. Lebron and Durant have been the 2 best players, and I'd have Melo 3rd.

And I'd say Lebron has been the best for the last 5 seasons('09-present) but not before that. The one year I'm hesitant is 2011 when you can make a case for Dwight, Dirk and Wade as well. That year isn't as clear.
