Are you ready fo admit he's the better player here? Seems to have been a big bias against D-Wait for some reason around here.
But stats don't lie.
So why do you?

are you really comparing 31.0 MPG to 30.1
and steals 1.0 to .9
Beal has played in 3 more games than Waiters and has taken 33 less shots than Waiters. You are comparing players but left out information such as rebounding turnovers and fouls. Don't be biased.

I would rather have Waiters.

waiters is a better passer and has an explosive first step. Both guards have not-so great FG% buts that the story with most rookie guards. Waiters is more versatile and has a higher upside IMO.
Waiters' FG% is steadily improving as he's finishing better and better at the rim.

I don't know about that. Beal has a pure jumpshot and once it starts falling consistently he could be a serious stud. He's also getting to the rim and line more than I expected and is money on Ft's. Also Beal is 49% TS (which sucks but it's dragged down by his bad first month) and Waiters is at 47%
I know none of you have watched more than 3 wizards games this year so I'll give you a pass on your ignorance.

I think Kyrie would've benefited more from Beal still.

Cleveland was going for potential/shot-creator. They don't want another LeBron scenario where he is surrounded by just spot up shooters

How does that apply to Beal?

Beal is flat out better, apart from maybe passing. Even then, I think hes a better playmaker overall.
He seems to have fixed all his issues in terms of getting efficient buckets, but his free throws have suffered this last month.

Yeah and i take it you've watched every cavs game too
Beal is a jumpshooter. Dion is a playmaker, and don't even try to pretend that beal can get to the rim like Dion can. I'm not knocking Beal, but Waiters is the more complete and more explosive guard.

Wasn't one of the knocks on Dion coming out of college that he wasn't a great passer or playmaker? Seems to be something hes worked on quite a bit.

No the big knocks on Dion was the fact he came off the bench, he almost quit the team, and that he played in a zone defense. That was pre-draft.
Post draft everybody was freaking about his weight cause he showed up to the summer league out of shape.
So far he's proven to be very coachable and a hard worker. His D has actually been a pleasant surprise. His negatives are obviously his streakiness. Some games everything he throws up goes in, other games and he's bricking everything. Earlier in the season he used to always kick his out when he shot the ball, now he's just jumping straight up. Dion, just like Beal, have both kind of elevated their games the past month or two. They are both starting to get more comfortable and confident. It's going to be a good rivalry going forward. Beal/Wall v. Kyrie/Dion

Beal wasn't available at #4 so what Cleveland was "going for" is irrelevant.

When OP said more minutes, I thought he was talking about a 5-7 difference in MPG. Not 0.9 MPG.
Anyway, I knew Beal was having a good January, so I compared his January numbers to Waiters.
Beal:32.9 MPG, 15.1 PPG, 2.8 RPG, 2.5 APG, 0.9 SPG, 0.6 BPG, .447/.508/.632
Waiters: 27.4 MPG, 15.0 PPG, 2.2 RPG, 2.7 APG, 0.6 SPG, 0.4 BPG, .419/.324/.828
Comparable numbers and, in this case, Beal does have a pretty good edge in MPG. And how is Beal such an awful FT shooter? He's shot 51% from three in the month but 63% from the FT line?
Anyway, both are having nice rookie seasons, but I'm a little higher on Beal.

I like Waiters game a lot. He has been very inconsistent, but you can see flashes of his potential, and it's very high. He has a great flow to his game, smooth handles, ambidexterity, a good body, and excellent finishing skills. Clearly his biggest issue is his jumper, which gets wet for periods of time but is mostly inconsistent.
I don't want to hype Waiters up too much, but I see glimpses of a Dwayne Wade/Tyreke Evans combo. As for how that pairs with Kyrie Irving, I'm not completely sure...

True, but according to Windhorst who was embedded in the Cavs' war room the day of the draft, their big board looked like this...
1. Anthony Davis
2. Waiters/MKG
They were certain that one of those three would be there. Just a question of whom. Despite smokescreens, Beal did not appear to be a part of their plan.
As for Dion's game, he has a tremendous amount of upside. He has the kind of explosive first step which can't be taught. He is also built like a brick shithouse which helps him absorb contact and move defenders. He has been relatively under the radar this year with everything Kyrie has done and the great start Andy had, but he has been steadily improving over the last couple months. He shows flashes of being a kind of player who can completely take over a game.
It is just about consistency and playing within the flow of the game... like most young players.

They play in the same conference, coaching is a wash, and the supporting casts are comparable. In fact, with Deng, one can effectively argue that from a pure talent stand point, the Cavs have more surrounding their backcourt than the Wizards.
So, is it safe to say that Wall + Beal > Irving + Waiters, Cavs fans? I mean, one team is up 2-0 in the playoffs, the other is sitting home.

I agree that Wall + Beal is better Waiters + Irving
But the Wiz have a legitimately good front court, Nene and Gortat is much better than the garbage the Cavs have up front, (including lottery picks Thompson and Bennett who are both trash).

The Wizards are my team and I think it's fair to say that our fan base was underwhelmed a little bit by Beal's development from last season to this season. He still has trouble dribbling in iso situations, settles for too many long twos, and is the center piece of this stupid play where he runs around one of our bigs a bunch of times trying to get free for a shot.
All that being said, I still think Beal is going to be a really good player and would take him in a heartbeat over Waiters. For some reason Waiters seems kinda volatile on the court sometimes, like a watered down Lance Stephenson or something. Kyrie and Waiters are always beefing whereas Beal and John get along great. I know that isn't all on Waiters but still, it doesn't look great. If I were a Cavs fan I would be worried more about Kyrie than I am with Dion though. It seems like they keep plugging in high lotto picks around him and they still can't get over the hump. I mean in the past two years they have had two #1 picks and two #4 picks, not to mentioning aquiring Deng and nothing seems to matter. It's a rough situation.

To be fair Beal is an important part of a playoff team (in the JV league/East, but still) whereas Dion is an "important" part of a sh1t team that couldn't even make playoffs in the ****ing east

Haha good point. If Lebron doesn't return home, the future doesn't look too bright for that squad.
