He's my favorite player in the draft. I called the DWade comparison when I saw him in high school and I'm not backing down.

Not saying he will be the next DWade like OP is saying, but he plays very similarly and there's no doubt in my mind he will be a very good pro. How good? Who knows. One team is going to get a major building piece for their future.

Rodney Purvis reminds me more of Wade they play the same exact way even move the same way, but Smart will probably be better

Here's a Player A vs. Player B comparison. Stats are from the freshman year of both players:
Player A: 14.2 pts; 5.9 reb; 4.7 ast; 0.8 blk; 3.0 stl; 40.2 FG%; 27.7 3PT%; 77.1 FT%
Player B: 14.9 pts; 4.5 reb; 4.7 ast; 0.4 blk; 1.2 stl; 47.7 FG%; 33.7 3PT%; 71.2 FT%

Player A is Marcus Smart. Player B is Derrick Rose from 2007-2008, the #1 pick of the draft after his freshman year. By the way, Smart is listed at 6'4'' and 225 lbs. Rose is listed at 6'3'' and 205 lbs. Of course Rose has world-class athleticism and shot slightly higher percentages than Smart.

I think he has more value in the nba as a pg than a sg. I could see him go top 3 or no worse than 14 so it would be tough seeing him return for a soph season

Guy's a great player, but talking about A vs B I'd take Player B (Rose) 10/10 times based on those stats. 40% FG/ 27% 3P vs 47.7 FG/ 33 % 3P, with close stats across the board (minus steals).

40%? - I'm on the wagon. Not the next Wade Wagon - but I like the kid :lol

Here is to actively hoping he's not the new Wade - in that he actually has a consistent jumper and 3 point shot and doesn't need refs to act as his personal crutch when he gets to the league

"Pay attention to Marcus Smart: The Oklahoma State guard might be the most unheralded player in the country right now. Seriously. The reason might be that on their own, none of his numbers jumps off the stat line -- he averages 14.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.0 steals per game -- but then go back and look at that list collectively.

Little update on Smartacus:

3 hours ago today they named Marcus Smart --- Big 12 Freshman of the Year & Big 12 Player of the Year

"Smart is the fourth OSU player to be named Big 12 Player of the Year, joining James Anderson (2010), Tony Allen (2004) and John Lucas III (2004) and the school's seventh conference player of the year overall.

He's just the third freshman to be named both Big 12 Freshman and Player of the Year, along with Kevin Durant of Texas and Michael Beasley of Kansas State."-newsok

Wade is something special, especially peak Wade. Let's give the kid some time to become something in the NBA before we make comparisons like this.

People were saying Davis is the next KG, etc. Let's wait a bit first.

Wade has a jumper. Smart stayed in school to work on his jumper. Admitted it was a big part of his game that needed work. Nothing I said was offbase. Comparing this kid to Wade is. Outside of jumpers, his decision making isnt the best. Assist to turnover ratio is laughs. You seem like a Wade hater. Wade midrange game is :applause:
