Dwight is selfish
Dwight bad attitude
Dwight hasnt improved since 2nd year
Fans care more than dwight
Dwight shows no appreciation for being here
Dwight has a loser mentality and just views himself as a victim

I'll wait until I see this confirmed, but I agree with all of the above regarding current Dwight. But Dwight did make big improvements throughout his Orlando career, however he's easily playing worse than he has since his 3rd year, if not 2nd year.

I have tried to see this situation from both sides...

One is Nash and Gasol sacrificing their games to make all the pieces fit.

I also see the other guys having more financial security signing deals or already having massive deals(Kobe and Gasol)

Dwight is struggling but its all mental and I think hes wanting to make sure he is healthy as possible for the summer. So i agree the guys are looking for rings and hes looking for security before he works hard for the ring.

there's a difference between someone who is trying as hard as they can but is limited by physical issues and someone who isn't trying as hard as they can because they're playing it safe.

Howard has been the latter. He is not bringing energy and effort to the game, he's simply going through the motions and it is hurting team morale and making us soft inside. There were a dozen rebounds within arms reach in the Heat game that he did not even attempt to go for.

Hes eying that 20 mil a year over 5 years. I can't blame him. The rest of the core have their contracts and "security." He really doesn't. I don't think he trusts the team nor the organization. I do think you will see Dwight come to 85-90 percent of what he was in 2010-2011. Hes def mailed it in alla Randy Moss Oakland era

I don't think it's fair that Dwight is getting so much blame for what's wrong with the Lakers but he's only made the situation worse by not playing hard every night and with his comments to the media. Shut up and play basketball. If you don't like it in LA, leave this summer. But don't complain about the offense, play emotionless basketball, and complain about your touches.

I agree, he's the only guy out there who has to worry about his future. But by that same token, he might be playing himself out of a max contract. The Lakers could give him more than anyone else and commit to building around him for the next 6-7 years.... if only he would bring the right effort and attitude. He's really hurting himself more than saving/protecting himself at this point.

What do you want the Lakers organization to do? They can't make Dwight play with heart. They can't make him give 100% effort every game. They can't stop him from getting stripped 5 times a game because he still hasn't learned to keep the ball high. They can't make him want to be a part of their organization when he already has his immature mind made up that he doesn't give a shit about the franchise.

Besides, after what you've seen from him this year, why would you want dude back on the Lakers? I'm not talking about his numbers. I'm talking about all the drama that surrounds him. The lack of effort that he continually shows in games. The passive-aggressive shots at teammates despite having a chance to make these comments directly to the players involved when directly confronted with the issues.

The dude is a born loser, plain and simple. I don't give a shit if he's injured. That doesn't excuse his poor attitude, behavior, and immaturity.

If they wanted things to work with Dwight, all they had to do was hire Phil Jackson. You know. The most obvious move in the history of obvious decisions.

Everything in this cluster fck of a season leads back to one thing. This fcking idiot Jim Buss hiring this dipshit mike dantoni because he didn't like that his sisters boyfriend is the big man on campus and Jim's little bitch ass wants to wear the big boy pants.

I hope you guys understand the magnitude of IRONY in this. He's on there laughing about how Dwight's dad is talking and getting into this. Think about it, some Laker role player that retired in 2004 comes out of the wood works and starts hating on Dwight.

Let that set in. At least with Magic, he's a PAID analyst. He's paid to analyze, speculate and comment on the situation. Rick Fox isn't even paid to speculate in this situation, who do we hear from next...Robert Horry? Nick Van Exel? Eddie Jones? Slava Medvedenko? Maybe Chris Mihm has something to say.

This is why I say this will be the last straw for me. Fcking up the Dwight Howard situation is the last straw for me with Jim Buss. This guy KNEW that Dwight wanted Phil Jackson. He knew Dwight was a free agent after this season, but he let personal feelings interfere and decided he'd rather tell both Phil and Dwight to go fck themselves.

All I'm saying is, any laker fans talking about how they want Dwight gone, don't bitch next year when Dwight is BALLING OUT on some other team next season. The whole lakers organization is a toxic environment and Jim Buss is the main reason.

That's what boggled my mind. Didn't Howard have a 26 rebound game just a month ago or something?

Since Howard played in 54 games last season, and 46 so far in this one, let's look at the stats carefully:

2011-12: 38.3 mpg 13.4 FGpg 57.3% 10.6 FTpg 49.1% 14.5 rpg 2.1 bpg 2.9 fpg 20.6 ppg
2012-13: 34.8 mpg 10.1 FGpg 57.7% 9.0 FTpg 49.5% 11.7 rpg 2.4 bpg 3.7 fpg 16.2 ppg

Besides 3 fewer shots per game... It seems to me that Howard doesn't have the same 4-6 space rebounding dominance.

And aside from the numbers, he was so much better in the post last year. The jump hooks were still reliable with either hand, used the glass well inside, looked much more comfortable with his back to the basket, those little spin moves were successful on a much more consistent basis and he was doing a much better job passing out of double teams. In fact, he did all of this while getting doubled more, although the spacing was much better and the offense was built around him.

And what's really stood out to me is how many shots I see around the rim where he goes up soft that he would have dunked just last season, and in particular how many lay ups he blows when he regularly finished with contact last season. Even his touch on those short hooks that he tries to bank has seemingly declined.

His defense has slipped each of the last 2 seasons after peaking in 2011, but he was definitely a more effective defender last year.

Just two years ago, he was averaging 23/14 on 59 FG%/60 FT% while carrying Orlando's defense which was elite primarily because of him and leading his team to 52 wins with a fraction of the talent he plays with now. He was regularly scoring 30-40 points and grabbing 15-20 rebounds. He was actually quite consistent that year. He regularly got his own shot in the post, but still worked hard on the offensive glass, ran the floor and didn't take plays off at either end while dominating the boards.

It almost seems impossible that I'm watching the same person I did in 2011.

He can't even set a fvcking screen right for fvcks sake!! Add that to how he's been acting this season.. bitching at teammates, backing down when confronted, crying to his dad, etc..

Dude is a straight cancer to this team. SHIP HIS ASS OUT MITCH!!! :banghead:

A little off topic, but I was listening to Max and Marcellus earlier and I thought it was interesting that on LA radio right after the Heat played the Lakers they basically open up the show for 10 minutes comparing Lebron and Jordan with almost no mention of Kobe. Sounds like even LA now seems to think that Kobe wasn't on Jordan's or Lebron's current level.
Max is an NY guy and Marcellus is a Clipper fan, so it's not so much indicative of the the general LA mentality. Great radio show though, listen to them everyday after work

:facepalm

You know how much people in L.A have already compared Kobe to Jordan? They've discussed that to death by now.

Kobe is treated like a God in L.A. They think he's the greatest human to ever step foot on this earth.

Huge reach by you.
Have you ever even been to LA? Hate to break it to you, but the vast majority of people don't even care about basketball. Don't base your opinion on radio

Probably, and he certainly shouldn't have treated SVG the way he did.
No kidding.

SVG's the best thing that ever happened to him and one of the best coaches alive, aside from the retired legends.

As much as Dwight's attitude sucks, I'm telling you man. If the Lakers fck up and let Dwight go, I'm fcking done with the Lakers.

I'm sick of all the idiot Kobe fans who want to throw dirt on anyone at all costs to deflect any blame on their gawd. Wake up idiots. We need this guy Dwight Howard.

They hired the retarded potato.... Cool.
They hire pringles over Phil fcking Jackoson. Why? Because he coached Nash. Cool. I guess Phil wouldn't have the brilliant idea to have Nash set screens for Kobe and play off the ball. Genius, right? Cool.

Seriously, pull your heads out of your ass. Dwight is a legit top 3 player in the league when healthy. He's hurt this season, but the dude is gonna heal up.

If the Lakers fck this up and Dwight walks because of their incompetence, I'm fcking done with the Lakers.

Wtf? When did you start pretending to be a Laker fan?

Yeah, Stan is a better coach than his brother, imo, and easily the best coach Dwight has played for. He did a very good job with Orlando's offense and defense, he successfully built both around Howard's strengths, and put Dwight in an ideal position to succeed. What more could he ask for from a coach?

Joke? He was a good role player that actually knew his role.

Averaged 9/4/3 through the 3peat years with great team and man to man defense.

Yeah, Bush Jr. acting like a Lakers fan caught me by surprise too. Much more when he said he "was done with them", like he was ever a fan

Unless Dwight is playing with extreme pain in his back, there is no excuse for me. Hes still the THIRD MOST ATHLETIC centre in the game behind Javale and DJ so this whole hes coming back from a back injury thing is nothing if hes still physically more dominant than just about any big out there. Again if you need to be so much more athletic than everyone else to be great I just don't think you were that good to begin with.

Hes averaging just as many mins as most other good bigs, if hes struggling because he has to use skills/talent now rather than just being more atheltic than dude is overrated. If hes in serious pain while playing and not comfortable playing than he gets a pass.

Being interviewed by max kellerman and lighting up dwight.

Dwight is selfish
Dwight bad attitude
Dwight hasnt improved since 2nd year
Fans care more than dwight
Dwight shows no appreciation for being here
Dwight has a loser mentality and just views himself as a victim

Lakers "fans" are hilarious. I highly doubt Dwight will resign with this team.

Good riddance, shit second rate career loser doesn't deserve to wear a Laker jersey.

I wonder if any GM is stupid enough to offer him that after the drama he caused in Orlando, being a lockerroom cancer in LA, and the very real possibility he will NEVER get his athleticism back.

He's 28, he's not young, hes supposed to be in his prime, yet he's having the worst season of his career.

Only a truly desperate GM offers D12 a max contract

He has good athleticism but he is slower, far weaker and doesn't jump as high as Howard. Not even close.

The only physical advantage that McGee has on Howard is his 9'6.5" standing reach.

I would agree with prime Howard but not this seasons version, Magee can get up and down the court quicker than just about anyone at the C spot and has good bodycontrol and can reach things probably no other human being can. But my point in general is even if injuries has reduced Dwights atheltic ability hes still more athletic than most.

Poor Dwight. He doesn't deserve this. A torn labrum was one of the injuries Wade had in 07, and he came back and played with his arm in a sling to help the Heat try to defend their title, which resulted in the 15 win 2008 season, after the sweep by the Bulls.

I hope Dwight gets to Brooklyn or somewhere where he is happy. Then he'll dominate again.
