View Full Version : Russell Westbrook walks out on postgame interview after funny exchange

Clippersfan86

Now it pains me to post this because I know it's going to attract big bitch Brenda to flame Westbrook but it's not my intent. I'm posting it because I actually thought it was hilarious. I've been waiting for the next young superstar who doesn't give a flying fu** and Westbrook is filling that niche.

People are conditioned to like fake guys like LeBron and Durant.

Russell Westbrook, the realest/hardest working player in the league. People will learn to appreciate this dude whether they like it or not.

I'm not a fan of when the Clippers play him and he puffs out his chest and throws up signs and shit but when I sit and think logically I've been waiting for somebody like him for years. Everybody now wants to be the fake humble bullshit.. and this dude literally does not give a flying fu**. It is refreshing to see.

Not really. I was a Garnett fan at Minnesota then a Durant fan through college and when he was drafted.. so I followed when they moved to OKC. I live in AUS and up until a few years ago we couldn't really watch the NBA season.

I've been to the US in the past year though and really liked Oregon and Washington so I'll be supporting Seattle if/when they get a team back. Of course OKC will still be like a second team as long as that core is still there.

I can't believe you guys actually support this kind of behavior. The reporter asked a legitimate question and it seemed like Westbrook legitimately didn't understand it. Instead of a simple "We could've won that game, but we let it slip away at the end. They were just a better team out there tonight" he just added on more attention than he wanted because I know he wanted to get the f away from all this.

I believe it was highly disrespectful and unprofessional. I wouldn't want to walk into a pharmacy asking "Can you tell me where x and y are?" with a response of "What!? Bro! Whatchu talkin about?" He has a professional job so act the part. What he does is just good for show, but an attitude like that won't put the guy over the top like a guy like CP3 in the long haul. He represents the organization, and I'd be disappointed if I was the guy upstairs or as a coach. This is not acceptable and any highly regarded analyst would agree.

Anyway, there's a place in Westbrook, ME called the Frog And Turtle Restaurant. The reviews are on point with Russell himself. :lol

Can't see youtube at work.. what was he asked?
Reporter asked: Did your team lose the game, or did the Jazz win it?

Which I get the reporter's questions. It's basically suggesting the OKC are a really good team that let themselves down, as opposed to the Jazz just out right out playing you.

It's a bad question to ask, but Westbrook's reaction is totally over the top and over emotional.

Even if you feel it's a stupid question, answer it. Instead he flied off the deep end because he's obviously hurt about the loss but comes off extremely rude for no reason.

I've seen dumber questions asked of players. His reaction is funny, but the kid is just way too over emotional.

Not near as funny as when Craig Sager got him stumbling on his words and so upset that he couldn't answer.

It is a stupid question. You're either going to make him sound like a sour-ass loser or ask for the same, old cliche answer. What kind of question is that?

What sport do you play?
Choices: "Basketball" or some stupid answer.

The Jazz won this game. There were, what, 10 steals? That's a lot, and almost excuses the 20 turnovers the Thunder had. But Westbrook had 7 turnovers. Like, what kind of question is that?

It was crafted to screw him over, and he didn't like that. Then, he gave an awesome answer.

I agree he is quite immature. But its not that he's an asshole that ppl are lauding. Its more so that he doesn't give a fvck...he is who he is, and in this age its quite rare.

He doesn't care about personal accolades/stats, doesn't care what critics say about him (even me because I dont think he's a PG), he doesn't care about being PC etc.

W/ Westbrook you know what you're getting is genuine unlike some other players...

But I can completely understand how a lot of ppl would hate him (I used to be in that boat)

He's shy. And has gotten much better public speaking wise. MJ and Pip were that way when they were ultra young, too. More interviews, more promotions, more marketing and more comfortability. He's fine with that stuff now.

But it's funny, people critique his intelligence (book smarts he's probably dumb, as most players are) but he's the much more intelligent player and decision maker in comparison to Westbrook. You do realize this, right?

Derrick Rose doesn't spaz on reporters over simple questions. Rose doesn't get into shouting matches IN GAMES for christ sakes, with teammates and coaches.

That isn't just a "I don't give a fukk how you judge me" Tupac / Iverson type vibe. He's not saying this is me, and being cool about it. Westbrook is absolutely selfish, and absolutely has some sort of mental or social disorder. He is over emotional, and can go from 0 - 60 in terms of anger in a second.

A terrible attribute in a POINT GUARD. I don't like his attitude. He's brash when he's winning, and pouts when he's losing. Anyone condoning or repping UrkelBrook's behavior is alarming. It's what holds him back as a player, person, and ultimately OKC. Watch.

Good points.

But him being over-emotional is a sign of his relative immaturity. Like I said before, I can understand how ppl hate him, he's not the most likeable guy nor does he come across as the most relate-able.

I think most of the WB fans simply respect/commend his authenticity as a person (aside from his fiery/showy persona on the court).

His competitive spirit is absolutely commendable. I was cheering him on his career defining game in the Finals when he was dropping 40. But it's a microcosm of him as a player, he kept them in the game, showed tremendous heart ... and then in the same game killed his team's chance of winning by committing a STUPID foul to end the game. Westbrook in a nut shell.

Hah. I'm a Communications major.

Yeah, that doesn't seem like he's repping his fans or anything like that. It sounds like he's taking a shot at the Jazz fans. There's nothing wrong with my reading comprehension, and I think what he said there was much worse than anything Westbrook said last night.

He isn't jabbing the jazz. He's repping OKC.

When an interviewer asks you a perfectly normal and usual question and you basically blow up say something under your breath nd walk away.. You pullin a spaz

No, it's not. If he were repping OKC, he would say it's much louder in the arena, even when it's not a sell-out.

Saying it's louder without anyone in the arena is taking a shot.

Who's better between Lebron and Durant?

"Durant's better even when he's not on the court."

How would that not be a shot at Lebron?

Who's better between Westbrook and Rose?

Westbrook's better because at least he's on the court :applause:

Thank you for the example, man. And Jazz fans are one of the rowdiest

I see your point but the context of the people involved is very circumstantial.

Repping your fans like that will harbor no ill will, no fan is going to get outraged by that. It's a playful rep.

Your example with bron vs Durant would spark conflict since its an actual debate. People care, have beliefs and follow stats. Its an actual debate, not something trivial such as the decibel level in arenas full of people.

This. Anyone condoning that type of behavior probably has issues themselves.

They are probably fans of his because they are similar.
:applause:

Making broad sweeping generalizations about groups of people because they're fans of a particular player you two hate. Clearly anyone that's a fan of a certain player is exactly like said player. There's absolutely no other possibilities. Going through life that bitter must be a lonely pain in the ass.

So now we got...

"No more questions for you bro"
"I handled it like a man"
"If that's what you say brah"
"WHAT? Bro whachu talking about? I'M OUT! Yall nikkas trippin"

What will Interviewbrook say next? Now I am just hoping OKC lose a few more games just so reporters can question a pissed off Westbrook for more gems. :oldlol:

I never attacked anyone for being a "fan" of his. These "haters" are addressing Westbrook's immaturity and comments in said postgame.

Now that I finally listened to the quote, reaction, etc... it's not that big of a deal like some of the people hear have been posting about it. Yes, he's got to work on being more professional about these things and I'm pretty sure he will, but it's not that big of an issue.

I've seen worse videos from ex-players like Charles Barkley, Shaq, and so on... where they would just cuss out and take shots at other teams.
