View Full Version : Oscar Pistorius (The Double Amputee Olympic Sprinter) allegedly killed his gf
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/olympics---blade-runner--oscar-pistorius-allegedly-kills-girlfriend-in-shooting-073309639.html
The belief at the moment is that he shot her to death when he mistook her for an intruder.

South Africa is one of the most dangerous nations in the world, and residents commonly carry firearms to protect themselves against frequent home invasions.
One of the most dangerous in the world, maybe, but I doubt South Africa is among the most dangerous in it's own continent.

pretty sad if he's a murderer or another fake ass like lance armstrong.
he was an inspiration for what he accomplished in the sport.
i was rooting for him in the olympics.

Wow, that's crazy. I remember seeing a lot of his interviews during the olympics. Doesn't seem like a dangerous person. However, can't rule out anything.

If I thought this http://static1.ucm.co.za/media/fhm_coza/publishable/album/2011/02/Reeva-Steenkamp-1680-1050.jpg was intruding my home, I would gladly let her.

South Africa is as dangerous as it gets, on top of that HIV/aids/rape is out of control there its as dangerous as it gets for a reasonable developed place.I honestly would not be suprised if he did think it was a intruder that kinda stuff there is as common as buying bread.

This is fvcked up. He seems like an inspiration for amputated athletes or whatever. :( :(
inspirational sports stories are often just fantasies.
sadly, i fell for this one. i ran track before so i was really interested in his story and how he overcame those obstacles. it's just amazing what he accomplished, but i guess those are just delusions created by the media. i thought he was a cool dude.
he claims that he thought it was an intruder in the house, but sh!t, how the flying f--k do you mistakenly shoot at an unknown target four times when it's just your girlfriend? WTF??
she probably said or did something that made him think "I GOTTA KILL THIS B!TCH!", and he completely lost it.
His track accomplishments have nothing to do with murdering someone. He didn't become a world class runner with no legs because he shot a chick in the head.
no shit.
Then why did you just say the inspirational stuff and accomplishments were all media created?
the media created the illusion of a likable dude that you wanted to cheer for and watch him succeed. images of him helping other handicapped kids out or whatever, all PR and media shit.
not happening if everyone knew he was really some psycho murdering type.
the f--k don't you understand? :confusedshrug:

Pistorius is facing financial ruin over the upcoming murder trial.
"The family doesn't deny that Oscar's legal expenses are massive and that he has sold off some of his investments, including his racehorses," said the statement.
"Oscar will evaluate the cost situation on a day-to-day basis and make decisions as required."
Pistorius' lawyers filed an appeal in a South African court against bail restrictions imposed on the disabled athlete, according to papers released by the Pistorius family.
"The conditions appealed against are unwarranted and not substantiated by the facts," said the appeal, which was filed in Pretoria, the South African capital.
State prosecutors said they would contest the Pistorius appeal, though a court date on the matter had not yet been set.
"As the state, we are going to oppose that application," said Medupe Simasiku, regional spokesman for the National Prosecuting Authority, to The Associated Press.
The appeal reflected the robust defense strategy of lawyers for Pistorius, who has been staying at his uncle Arnold's home in a Pretoria suburb since he was released on bail on Feb. 22.
It is a delicate balance because the Pistorius family has also sought to keep a low profile, expressing sorrow for the death of Steenkamp.
Officials will visit Pistorius at his uncle's home at least four times a month, according to James Smalberger, chief deputy commissioner of the department of correctional services, who spoke to The Associated Press last month.
"He's not under house arrest, but his movements need to be known to us so that we don't pitch there and he's not there," Smalberger had said.
"We agree on 'free time' normally during the course of the day, and in the evening we expect him to be home."
Chief Magistrate Desmond Nair had set bail at 1 million rand ($113,000). The 26-year-old track star was also ordered to turn in any guns he owns, and cannot leave the district of Pretoria without his probation officer's permission.

He's not getting 5 years in prison, he's getting around 10 months, with the rest of the time being served under house arrest.
Meanwhile, in the UK, if you troll celebrities you better get ready for 2 years behind bars: http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-29678989
But if you are a celebrity, you can shoot your partner in the face, and get 10 months. Seems celebrities really are being treated as the aristocracy of today - the law applies completely differently to them than to the rest of us. Not to mention the public obsession with their doings and goings on, and taking their opinions as gospel, which is just the same as before.
Watch if they find the guy who leaked those pics: he'll get 10 years for invading the privacy of his betters!

i read that statements he initially made to the police contradicted his affidavit and that the bullet holes in the bathroom door were high enough that it would appear that Oscar was wearing his legs.
Who knows though? Lots of misinformation and misinterpreted facts in these high profile cases.

The fail in that story is, Reeva most certainly screamed back at Oscar when he shouted for the "intruder" to leave his house... Or she hears someone/something, and just lets Oscar know its her...
I just don't get the motive behind his killings.
And who knows if reality is even remotely close to the story he told.
But the fact that he lied makes it obvious that he killed her, knowing it was her, with evil intend.

Pistorius was released today. Over 9 years after entering jail. Would have been 10 years in October. He was supposed to serve only 10 months but South Africa has no double jeopardy and prosecutors appealed his acquittal of the murder charge.

Not enough imo.
But at least not the hideous 10 months that was suggested.
