The businessman and billionaire is at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and a source close to the situation tells RadarOnline.com that Lakers players have been calling with well-wishes and even stopping by to see him in what they expect to be his final days.

A large number of old people die of cancer. It's just a part of getting old for most. Life basically sucks **** after the age of 60.

So, Lakers are stuck with Jim Buss from now on.

Jerry's dying wish (in my fantasy at least): leave the team to Jeannie.

Actually, if he dies, I'm sure the team's ownership would be split equally among all of his children. I think he has like 6 kids.

yeah but all 6 kids won't have equal say in the day to day operations of the LAkers.

the miracle might have been him living the past 2 or 3 years. buss passing will be the saddest day in sports history for me after magic announcing his first retirement.

I dont think much will change. They have pretty much had a plan to shift the power in action for a few years now. Jim is in charge of basketball operations and Jeanie is in charge of business operations.

But I didn't even know he had 4 other kids until a few minutes ago. So Im not sure how much of a impact they are going to make

You can GUARANTEE that there will be a power struggle for control of the organization when Jerry passes. If the kids all get an equal cut of the franchise, which ever kids have the larger alliance will become the shot callers.

You're right. That's why there are never vicious legal battles between the family members of a wealthy person when they die.... Oh, wait...

Though I do think it's very sad that he's close to passing, all I can say is at least he lived a privileged lifestyle. I mean, there are millions who die every year of cancer who have never experienced even half of what Jerry Buss experienced in his life time.

Thank you to the greatest owner in sports franchise history.

Pretty sure that the following contribute to chronic diseases and even cancer:

A) Western diet
B) Free radical damage or oxidative stress
C)High stress lifestyle

This has been known for a while tho, no? It wasn't public that it was cancer but that he was in the hospital with something serious and life threatening.
