But if he continues to play at this level, he'll be a lock for the top 5 all time and probably surpass Jordan.

In related news, I also hate Jordan.

Top 10 GOATs locked...yes.

Top 5 GOATs locked....NO chance Yet till he wins atleast 3 rings.

1. Jordan
2. Kareem
3. Wilt or Magic
4. Magic or Wilt
5. Bird

Top 5 are too STACKED!!

LBJ has no chance of cracking til he wins 3+ rings.

Haha I know! I wanna hate him too, but I just can't. I have made the mistake in the past of not appreciating greatness until it was gone and I need to appreciate what I'm seeing while I still have the chance.

I agree with that. He ain't getting that high without winning more rings, but at this point, who's stopping him? The gap between him and Durant right now is so wide you can fit Hawaii in that shit.

You do know LBJ cannot "SUSTAIN" this for 80 games! you realize that.

1985 Bird: 28.7 ppg / 10.5 rpg / 6.6 apg for 80 games
1988 Bird: 30 ppg / 9.3 rpg / for 76 games
1987 Bird: 28.1 ppg / 9.2 rpg / 7.6 apg for 74 games

LBJ never came close to Bird's level even now.

If Bird had mchale + Parish. LBJ has Wade + Bosh. so no argument there.

Bird averaged 10 rebounds for his career!!! That's insanity. Wake me up, when Lebron can do that.

Not to mention he played SF his entire career. LBJ's playing PF most of time, and still can't average 9+ rebounds.

I always considered '86 Bird's peak. Celts won the most games and his defense was probably his best. 26/10/7 with 2 steals and a block. Had well above a 2:1 AST:TO ratio as well

Right now Bron's playing great defense w/ 27/8/7 with a AST:TO ratio well above 2:1. I think he can sustain the stats above, especially with the way hes playing

2 rings aint enough.

Even Kobe has 2 rings as DA MAN!

Duncan has 4 Rings as DA MAN!

LBJ has to get atleast 3 Rings before he can be considered Top 6.

Bird has 3 Rings in a "superstars" INFESTED 1980s era.

LBJ is playing in "superstars" DEPLETED 2010 era. He has to get atleast 3.

Infact, LBJs 3 rings will only guarantee him Top 10 GOATs.

3+ rings by LBJ will Knock SHAQ out.

No chance lebron isn't in the top 10 if he wins it all this year while having a good year and winning FMVP and likely another MVP.

So what? LeBron has 4 MVPs to Kobe's 1.

LeBron has 4 MVPs to Duncan's 2.

LeBron is already top 2 all time in terms of impact. If you're including rings/awards and all that, then he's already top 7-8.

Bird would have zero rings and zero MVPs playing in a league with LeBron. If LeBron played with McHale/Parish, DJ, and had a stacked bench from day one, he'd have more than 3 rings by now.

3 rings from LeBron and it's case closed. He officially becomes #2 all time and only Jordan remains ahead.

This overrating of past players is pure comedy. Magic, Bird, Russell, Wilt - none of these guys could sniff LeBron's jockstrap right now. They all had weaknesses. None of them had ZERO flaws in their games. That is LeBron.

Nice job ignoring stat inflation. The teams in the 80s played at a much higher pace than today and as a result had inflated ppg, apg, rpg and their fg% was higher. Lebron is averaging 27-8-7 right now on 56%. If he played in the 80s he would have had 29-9-8 this season or maybe even 29-10-8.5 or something like that.

What rat hole did you crawl out from. :facepalm

I mentioned "SUPERSTAR INFESTED" era for a reason.

Knicks had Ewing.
Hawks had 'Nique.
Bulls had MJ.
Philly had Sir Charles.
LAL had Magic
IND had Miller
etc etc etc.

Every team had terific trio. Even CAVS had Nance-Daugherty-Price. HAWKS had Rivers-Willis-Nique.

Every team was built to make it to playoffs in EC.

BIRD still put 5-6 seasons of 28-30 ppg DOUBLE DOUBLE.

LBJ is playing in weakest superstars DEPLETED league in weak EC & still cannot get to 10 RPG or 10 APG

If anything, LBJs stats are INFLATED because they are not challenged by SUPERSTAR every night.

Jordan will always be GOAT because...

He stood in the way and prevented most of his contemporaries from getting a championship...

Barkley
Stockton/Malone
Ewing
Miller

Or surpassed them in the number of championships...

Olajuwon
Drexler

Lebron on the other hand... couldn't handle getting beat and losing in the playoffs... so he decided to team up with contemporaries to shortcut his way to a championship...

Maybe in some alternate history Lebron stayed in Cleveland... and every year, in the playoffs, he's battling it out with Dwyane's Heat and Carmelo's Knicks, and coming out victorious after being pushed to the limit in 6 or 7 gruelling games.

Image that... and how awesome that would have been.

In this alternate history Lebron would seriously be considered GOAT. No joke.

LeBron is playing unreal lately. Jordan and Bird did play very similar to this though.

In his 89 season Jordan average after 49 games:
34.3 ppg, 7.8 rbs, 6.9 asts, 3.2 stls, on 54.8% shooting.

Bird in his 88 season after 49 games average:
29.7 ppg, 9.7 rbs, 6.1 asts, on 53.1% shooting.

With that said, LeBron is killing on the 3pt line this year and still had a better FG% than Bird and Jordan. While I don't know if he'll keep it up throughout the season, it is great to watch. LBJ can't miss...until he gets on the FT line lol. It's been a joy to watch.

Jordan basically sustained this level of play or better for his whole Bulls-career. This and his accolades prevent James from dethroning him. I actually hated Jordan in the 90s and just don't care about him any more, but he is above James an I don't see a scenario for James to surpass him. James' offense game is still raw compared to Jordan.

BUT the 80's pace was more faster than it is now.

A higher pace =/= higher stats necessarily.

For instance even though Bird played in a "faster" era his rebounding % is still far higher then Lebron's. Even his career rebounding % is higher than Lebron's highest season
