View Full Version : Magic and Skip say Jordan would beat Lebron 10 out of 10 one v one

Hello.. Wake the F@ck up.. Listen I have seen Jordan throughout his career and I know how Great he is but Lebron is bigger, Stronger and Just as Fast and Athletic. Am I saying Lebron could beat Prime Jordan every time no, but it would probably be 50/50 at least. This Lebron can shoot over him Consistently and back U down or Bull his way past ya. Jordan would have to Rely alot more on that Fadeaway to create Space on the Bigger Longer Lebron. Anyway real point is Media is running out of things to criticize Lebron about so not have to knock him i Imaginary one v one games and not competing in the dunk contest.

I don't remember Jason Terry "punking" Lebron James in the Finals. Can you elaborate on what you mean by "punking" him? I remember the kid dunking on Lebron. I don't really care how bad the dunk was. Kobe says that he and Jordan are the best one on one player of all time, and that Lebron is a more of a Magic Johnson type of player and has no chance against him one on one. They're looking at it in the one on one concept.

Look, MJ is not Kobe. He is a stronger, faster version of him. Just like what MJ said when he was asked about playing Kobe 1v1, "I would have a better chance of stopping him than he would have stopping me." Same thing goes for MJ vs LBJ.

MJ would win 8 or 9 times out of 10. Like above poster said, MJ refuses to lose. He would get physical with Bron and wouldn't allow him to just back him down in the paint.
Offensively, with a whole court to himself MJ's first step, quickness, and handles would be tough for Lebron to handle. MJ would get up a lot of midrange shots.

MJ would probably win like 7 times out of 10.
But that obviously has nothing to do with 5 on 5 basketball, where passing, help defense, defensive versatility, and rebounding (there's obviously rebounding in one on one but it's different) come into play.
And passing, help defense, defensive versatility, and rebounding are three areas where Lebron wins over MJ.

Lebron doesn't have better defensive versatility. In MJ's DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD year, he was playing passing lanes, best perimiter man to man defense in the history of the NBA, and could come from the weak side and block the shit outta the ball.
Tell me exactly what Lebron does better than Jordan on the defensive end? He's too big, and doesn't have the foot coordination of a Jordan to be as elite as him, on a 1 on 1 defensive basis.
When Jordan was called upon to assume Lebron's position, ball dominant distributor, he posted up better numbers than Lebron could ever dream of. When Lebron tried to play off ball like MJ, oh wait, he tried that, and it failed miserably. LBJ HAS TO BE BALL DOMINANT in order to be successful. He has no clue what he's doing off the ball, besides an alley oop, here and there.

Your a Jordan/ Bulls homer so your just a tad biased. The fact that people even compare or talk Lebron in same sentence as Jordan shows how Elite Lebron is and his career is probably half over. Lets revisit this topic 5 years from now I bet a lot of people who didn't give Lebron chance will say something different if Lebron wins a few more championships and MVPs

Yes he does. Defensive versatility = ability to guard multiple positions. Lebron has defended (and has been successful) guarding players from Derrick Rose to Pau Gasol. MJ would not be able to guard Pau Gasol near the basket. GTFOH.
Lebron's defensive versatility is matched by only a few players...Dennis Rodman is one. I can't even think of another. Maybe Pippen.

Ummm....he gaurded Pau Gasol for like 3 possessions. The ability to guard a player for a few possesions don't necessarily mean you can guard that position.
Tell me when he consistently guards the opposing team's big men. HE HASN'T.
That's the biggest myth that BSPN has put out there.
Yes, technically he can guard all 5 positions, but that doesn't mean he's effective at it.
Magic Johnson played center for a game in the Finals. Does that make him one of the great centers of all time?

The Heat's whole focus was on Rose. Pretty tough to beat a team when all their focus is on one player and nobody else could create their own shot to lessen the load. LBJ fans should know this, LBJ was owned by the Spurs in 07. Part of the reason LBJ hooked with Wade, he needed someone else who could burden some of the load.

Lebron can guard 1-3 and some 4's. He cannot guard Gasol with regularity...at least not when Gasol played like he had balls.
Shane Battier was the Heat's PF early in the season. Lebron was not playing PF. He was playing his position and making up for the rebounding issues. But he was not playing PF, nor was he guarding the other PF. Shane Battier is a 3 who can play some 2 and not a PF. He was literally getting abused early in the season and Lebron was playing the 3. That's not to say Lebron was selfish or that he should have guarded the opposing 4's. But he didn't, despite him being much better suited to guarding 4's than Battier is. Lebron has the body for anyone. He wasn't guarding 4's because it's not his game. He can tho, if he's asked too. But it's exaggerated when people say he does it game to game.

The league MVP, lightning quick point guard, who gets to the basket at will shoots 1 for 15 vs Lebron and it's growing pains?
Well, he did hurt his ankle during the Pacers series that slowed him down. Didn't LBJ complain about his elbow during the Celtics series he lost? If LBJ can use that as an excuse, I see no reason why Rose shouldn't also (he hasn't).
I will absolutly say growing pains, we all here cut LBJ some slack for his performance against the Spurs in 07, he was a young guy first time that deep in the playoffs vs a veteran team. Or would you perfer us to say LBJ has laid in egg twice in the Finals and come up big once?
Most people here cut LBJ some slack for 07, (youth, inexperience, overmatched) even though he stunk.

Whats it matter if it was against the Magic? They had the next best 3 players after Lebron in the series. Finally you admit that Cleveland team had no shot creators

Depends on a few things:
- Game rules. Make it, take it? This is the kind of game that could come down to who misses first
- Can Lebron handle Jordan's offensive versatility? Is Jordan strong enough to prevent Lebron from backing him down and bulldozing him to the rim?
- Who's 'hot' at that given moment. Lebron is literally impossible to guard if his jumpshot is on. Jordan has more offensive weapons that can be employed in a one on one scenario.
I'd take MJ, but 10 out f 10 is insanity. 6/10, max 7/10, is the absolute best case scenario.

Dwight, who wasn;t guarding Lebron 1 on 1. Rashard Lewis? Hedo? Nelson?
:lol
Rashard Lewis is such a nightmare defender!!!
Also, their team defense was only good, because of the rim protection. Lebron didn't have resistance leading up the rim, only at the rim. In which he got a shit ton of foul calls.
I remember Dwight being in foul trouble early as hell in those games.

Silk, thanks for making our point for us, lol.
You try putting Rose down so much it's not funny ...You have Rose on one side with nobody else with him that can create their own shot. On the Heat you have LBJ and Wade, plus an All Star PF. We were outgunned and a 22/23 year old wasn't going to beat by himself a Heat team with their best players in their prime.
It was still a close series even though it was 4-1 because 3 of your wins came down to the last minutes of the game.

Google Jason Terry trash talk LeBron James and refresh your memory by watching the YouTube video of Terry knocking down a dagger three in James face...
So "punking" him is trash talking and hitting a shot? A scorer scores and talks some trash and that's punking him? What was Lebron supposed to do? Punch him or something? As far as him hitting a shot, I don't know if you never seen it before, but players hit shots all the time. :biggums:

None of this is relevant. I said Lebron can guard 1-4's well and some guy goes and says he can't and says Lebron never shut down Rose "he only guarded him a few possessions" So I simply told him he held Rose to 1-15 shooting

Floyd Mayweather can fight the Klitschko brothers, does it mean he'll be effective?
Edit: Rodman and Pippen are MUCH better defenders than Lebron.
:biggums: :wtf: :facepalm
He played center for two games for Cleveland. One was on Tyson chandler and he did fine. Chandlers no beast in the post, but no average sf would be as to guard him for a whole game.
Also, Lebron plays the 4 a lot for Miami.
Also, there are things called rotations, fast breaks, and pick and rolls where players end up on people who they aren't normally guarding. Lebron can switch out onto anyone on the floor 95% of the time and its not a mismatch. Because he can guard Westbrook, D rose, Paul pierce, serve ibaka, or Tyson chandler.

If he played Lebron Right now LEbron would Dismantle him if not for the fact Lebron is too nice of a guy and would not do that to one of his biggest Idols. I bet Lebron is Secretly hurt by Jordan's recent statements but it also should fuel him to keep being Great and keep on winning.
Obviously, Lebron is unbelievable and Jordan is 49, but the point is that it shows how strong of a one on one player Jordan is that he still beats current NBA players who are in the best shape of their lives, so the point of my comment was, "Imagine prime Jordan then." Jordan would be shit if came back to the NBA at the age of 50 probably even compared to the current players he's beating one on one, but one on one is a completely different game is the point, so you just can't judge it by the physical look of the players.

These debates are pointless but I do think that Jordan would beat Lebrn 8 out of 10 games. If they played 1 v 1, Jordan would get those 8 wins. We can't kid ourselvs. Those of us that have see Jordan play know what he was capable of doing. And how he would use any defeat, slight, or negative comment to motivate himself. Once Lebron won a game, it would have been all out warfare on that court. You guys forget, Jordan kept a dunklist while in college, of players that he just had o dunk on....just for fun. And that killer instinct that Jordan had. Jordan in his prime would get 8 out of 10 wins against Lebron.

Basketball is not reducible to who can go 1-on-1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 better than another. People should just disband every team then and just throw everyone into the AND1 circuit and play "seasons" in which everyone can go 1-on-1 and then see who comes out on top at the end of it. Since that's all most people seem to care about.

Theres a great article on ESPN on Jordan and his 50th birthday
quotes
The announcers gush about LeBron, mentioning him in the same sentence with Jordan, who hears every word. Those words have an effect on him. He stares at the TV and points out a flaw in LeBron's game.
"I study him," he says.
When LeBron goes right, he usually drives; when he goes left, he usually shoots a jumper. It has to do with his mechanics and how he loads the ball for release. "So if I have to guard him," Jordan says, "I'm gonna push him left so nine times out of 10, he's gonna shoot a jump shot. If he goes right, he's going to the hole and I can't stop him. So I ain't letting him go right."
For the rest of the game, when LeBron gets the ball and starts his move, Jordan will call out some variation of "drive" or "shoot." It's not just LeBron. He sees fouls the officials miss, and the replays prove him right. When someone shoots, he knows immediately whether it's going in. He calls out what guys are going to do before they do it, more plugged into the flow of the game than some of the players on the court. He's answering texts, buried in his phone, when the play-by-play guy announces a LeBron jump shot. Without looking up, Jordan says, "Left?"
