R.I.P. to Dr. Buss and his family. I can't think of an owner I would have rather had for my favorite team. Although I have never met him, he is also Godfather to two of my first cousins, so there is a little bit of family-type ties and that sense of loss.

He lived a great life, dared to dream big, and dared to put action, as well as his personal resources, behind those dreams

R.I.P. Dr. Buss!!!

Man...I am so sad today.
He did so much not for just the Lakers but the NBA.
Like how he supported Revenue sharing for small market teams etc.
He didn't care about money...he just wanted to win.
And under his ownership and in my lifetime my team won the title 10 times.
Magic, Kareem, Worthy, Shaq, Kobe, Pau....the list of great players go on and on.

Thank you Dr. Buss for everything.....
Hope we have a statue of him soon in front of Staples.

well said. true rags to riches story and i've never seen anyone say a bad word about him. in fact, they say he took time out of his day to talk to even the lowest rung guys like the janitor and such. not a passing hello but an actual sit down to see how they were doing and what they were up to.

~ Phoenix Suns Managing Partner Robert Sarver today issued a statement regarding the passing of Los Angeles Lakers owner Dr. Jerry Buss
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nice sentiment, RIP Dr. Buss.

It's funny to see how despite each owning a team who's fans each hate each other(especially in Phoenix with all of the LA transplants here), the 2 owners could hang out and be friends with each other.

Anyways... RIP. and I've gained a bit more respect for Sarver doing that, and gained respect for the Lakers organization in general for being reminded that the people behind the scenes running the team aren't douchebaggish like the fans often are.
