I believe some of it has to do with the culture in junior basketball these days and even the culture kids grow up in. It's thrown around alot now that basketballs for black guys and white guys will suck at it. Junior coaches all want to pick up and work with black kids as they expect them to have more potential, white kids get bored and move onto other sports/hobbies.

At least part of it would have to do with the people that were investing in finding and developing the next Jordan. And they weren't looking at white players. It is probably the same reason we have a lack of traditional big men. No one wanted to be like Bird or Ewing. Everyone wanted to be like Mike.

There is plenty of quality white American born players. Percentage wise it's the same as it's ever been since african americans became the majority dominant of the sport. They haven't dropped off in numbers compared to any other eras. And if they did, it was marginal, and based off the facts GMs began picking young, dumb, athletic players with potential as opposed to smart, skilled, not as athletic white experienced college players.

Yup. It started in the early 2000s with the youth HS invasion. The success of Kobe, T-Mac, KG, Jermaine O'Neal blinded GMs and they took great chances on a lot of players.

One of the MAJOR reasons offenses dropped in quality, and epic lows in PPG averages started being seen league wide. The lack of smart, skillful white college experienced players in lieu of dumb, not skilled, but highly athletic brothas with "potential" ...

Maybe in America the white guys dont persist because they see the black kids dominating? In Europe athleticism isn't a big drawcard so an elite level of skill is the emphasis. Let's be honest, a lot of American players are more athletic than skilled.

i think he means more prominent players and all star in reference to white talent. BUt yeah there is plenty of white players(obviously a significant decline in reference to the 70's, 80's and what not) but i dont see a resurgence primarily due to drafting on potential and most white players being over shadowed and out of the limelight making the nba lose appeal for them to compete in.
