Hibbert didn't get his monies worth. They were talking about how Steph got up in half a second and is going to cost hibberts suspension. Conversely lee Frickin hit him hard. Then jack pushed him in the stands. Hibbert was embarrassing. Luckily bogut wasn't there cuz he would have ripped his head off.

I'm glad to see this.

I could care less about either team, but Indiana has been starting to settle in as the definite 2nd best team in the East. They are going to need a little SWAG to get past Miami, and I'm okay with them getting a little nasty.

This is all about one thing: Eliminating Miami. It's really all that any NBA team wants to do.

Not sure why Hibbert will be suspended.
Lee pushed him, he pushed back, then both chested each other.
What was Steph doing? lol. hibbert tossed him aside. Suppose he could get a game for that, but Steph ran at him and grabbed him.
Jarrett Jack should be suspended though. He ran over and pushed Hibbert into crowd when he wasn't looking and there was no reason to.

Watch Hibbert as he's coming down the block. He slams into Lee with his shoulder on purpose. The paint was wide open, no need for that kind of thing. Lee took offense to that and retaliated.

West ain't shit. People talk about his fight training and how much of a badass he is... but everybody in the NBA in any recent year that has that rep is the same as everybody else. Scared to throw a punch and all bark.

That's why I laugh when people single players out as "fake tough guys". If there were any REAL tough guys left they would be throwing punches a la Oakley etc.
This. Fighting is pretty much out of the NBA. No one is scared of anyone. That's why you see Curry getting up in Hibbert and the bigs like that. You see little punks get up in Lebron's face because they know he's not gonna retaliate and whoop their ass. Picture Curry doing that shit on the bad boy pistons or a guy like Oakley. He'd get torn apart

Seemed more to me like he just spun in reaction and it ended up throwing Curry down. He'll miss games, and hopefully Granger can get that shot back soon so we don't take too much of a downswing. His aggressiveness was very impressive tonight, and he seems comfy going left all of a sudden which makes me happy.

There's a huge difference in looking tough and actually getting your hands dirty. Curry could have just kept back and started talking shit when the refs were in between them. Instead, actually went up against a guy he shouldn't have messed with... but he clearly did, something someone who would only "look" tough wouldn't do.

Neither guy was going to fight anyways.

InspiredLebowski
02-27-2013, 01:35 AM
I think initially Curry was trying to separate guys when he grabbed onto Hibbert then Roy swatted him away, which makes sense, some opposing player grabs onto you in a little brouhaha you're not about to think he has good intentions, then Curry was like **** that and went after him to do...whatever.

It's not a big deal at all, no one will even remember it by Friday.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet but this is all the officials' fault. When you let a team like Indy play more physical than any other team in the league something like this was bound to happen. Indy players are allowed to throw their bodies and hack the opposing players and they never get fouls called on them.

I'm glad David Lee said f*ck this shit and gave Hibbert a taste of his own medicine.

Don't get me wrong, I like Indy as a team and their style of play especially on the defensive end but you are blind if you don't think Indy gets away with more calls than other teams in the league

Damn Curry got ragdoll'd

Yea but who got suspended? And was Curry hurt? No! He bounced right back up and wasn't afraid and caused him to get two t's, plus that was Hibbert in pissed mode. Reality is Hibbert did Nothing to him! If anything, Hibbert was the one that got Moved into the stands and hit harder by Lee. Hibbert looked bad there, what an embarrassing way to not get your monies worth, get punked on by Steph, throw an ineffective sucker punch, and get supspended at the same time. That really is what truly happened, no matter how you try to twist it. Hibbert was a lot more heated than Steph and will be the one suspended. Steph did what he wanted, meticulously and pain free, suspension free.

You're in a shoving match, some dude from the other team latches on to your hip...what're you supposed to do? Let him hug you to death or whatever Curry wanted to do? Or does a rational person think "this dude's not on my team and he's jumping on me, who knwos what the hell he's wanting to do, let's get this dude off me."

No Lee pushed him first with excessive force on a box out.
Hibbert then pushed him back. Do you get a game these days for a push?
whole country went limp wrist. you had john wayne and clark gable for movie stars now you got keeno reaves and shia la poof.
you had dave cowens and bob lanier in the nba now you got drain wade laying on the floor crying for a referee.
women took over and this is what you got.

If anyone should be suspended it's Curry and West (who got a shove on an assistant coach or something too). Curry escalated it and West came to the party late and just started shoving people.

This. Hibbert made an aggressive move trying to get post position on Lee (happens like every other game for any post player). Lee took it personal and shoved Hibbert high. Hibbert retaliated. Lee came back with an aggressive forearm. Hibbert tried to retaliate but got bumped by Jack. Stephenson pretty much cleared it up at this point and both Lee and Hibbert were going separate ways. Curry took the brawl into the next level by wrapping your arms around an opponent who was heated. Hibbert tried to get him off him which looked worse than it really was because of Curry's size. Curry came back as if he wanted to fight. Hibbert pushed him away. Jack pushed Hibbert off the court.

To be honest, I think Hibbert, Lee, Curry, and maybe Jack deserves a 1 game suspension. Not trying to take sides but by the looks of it, Hibbert didn't even want any part of this happening but got pushed into everything. He's a pretty humble guy and was only protecting himself. You can see it from him walking away at the end when everyone was still in the scuffle. I think Curry overreacted and was the only one who wanted to really fight.

Thank you. I wanted to stay away from this thread until I saw some reason...Unlike the first page where somebody immediately blamed the Pacers without even seeing the footage. But this is the best breakdown I've seen...

Maybe the other team shouldn't be so soft? Maybe they should get physical back instead of expecting the refs to save them...This is nothing new...Teams who play physical on a CONSISTENT basis are given more leeway to play physical because what are they gonna do, call a foul on every position because guys are getting physical? The 90's Knicks, 80's Pistons, 2000's Spurs, 2004 Pistons, 80's Sixers, etc, etc were all allowed to play physical because thats the teams identity...The Heat, Grizzlies, and Bulls also get away with the same physical stuff the Pacers do...This must be a new day when people think the NBA is giving preferential treatment to small market teams like Indy:oldlol:

honest i don't think the heat play very physical like the pacers, they definitely can, but their best ability is to switch and still defend extremely well

1 game suspension each for Hibbert and Lee. I think it's retarded guys are suspending over freaking pushing, but at least they didn't do anything really stupid length wise.

Also $35k fines for each of Curry, Thompson, and Stephenson.

Violet Palmer part of the officiating crew....what a shocker. She's the worst referee, but the most job security.

I was not shocked to see that she was the ref closest to the start of the brawl.

look at her, she doesnt even TRY to separate them. Most people will be like "OMG how can you say that, she's a woman", but most likely the players would think the same thing and would stop immediately if they saw her.

Accidentally pushing the league's most precious ref would make your pocket a lot lighter.

If the Pacers can some how pull off a win against the Clippers they will go a long way into putting some fear into the league as far as their depth goes. I don't know how they'll pull it off, but I think West is going to have to dominate and Granger will have to do more than just look agressive. He will have to be truly successful in his FG attempts instead of just being brave in taking them.

Holy **** he only got 26 games for knocking out one dude and nearly killing another? :biggums:

Like at least one poster said, it WAS a different time with regard to fighting in the NBA in 1977. Fights broke out nearly every night; teams had "enforcers" (on-court bodyguards for their star players) and "hatchet men" (whose job it was to take the other team's best player out of the game, either by deliberately injuring him or by provoking him into a fight which MIGHT get one or both players ejected...notice I said "MIGHT" because fighting did not always result in ejections back then) among other types of tough guys. Some star players, like Golden State's Rick Barry, also got into a lot of fights in those days.

For example, the 1976-77 season alone saw 41 fights which each resulted in at least one ejection. There were many others (including some major incidents such as Houston's Calvin Murphy's beatdown of Boston's Sidney Wicks and a playoff fight between Golden State and Detroit that went into the Golden State stands TWICE) that had no ejections. Newspapers only bothered to mention fights where punches were thrown, which tells me that pushing/shoving/wrestling incidents were largely not mentioned because they were so numerous that they were considered a normal part of a game.

Then-NBA Commissioner Lawrence O'Brien only instituted fines going up to $10,000 for fighting for the 1977-78 season. Before that fines were much smaller.
