thats what i believe as well, but if he put a million dollars to Lebrons charity to lebron to enter, then i think lebron can't say no, he'd look inhumane

You know how many players would be lined up for the dunk contest now???

First of all, i don't think Lebron has any need for 1m. But if it goes to some charity I think he'll do it. But the most important thing is that we should make the dunk contest filled with star power. There is no point in having Lebron go up against the Terrenece Ross and Jeremy Evans of the NBA.

Also, there is no way Lebron is scared of losing as some people say, that's just ridiculous. Lebron could do the lamest dunks ever and still get the most votes because he has millions and millions of fans who would vote for him.

Get Lebron, Blake, Durant and Westbrook to do it + major money for charity and I think they'll do it.

The money means nothing. It's just his way of telling Lebron to man up and enter the dunk contest. I still don't get why this is such a big deal. The dunk contest sucks ass now anyway.

Magic should have said that he'd send the money to charity. As the decision showed, Lebron would do any shameless, useless, (and even disrespectful) event to help the little kids.

I actually don't mind having no-name players in the dunk contest. It's one of the very few times they'll get the spotlight.

In MLB and NFL, a lot of their role players and non-stars have a chance to be part of the All-Star game because there are so many positions available. Not only that but we've seen a good amount of non-HOFers winning World Series MVPs and Super Bowl MVPs too.

LeBron James
Russel Westbrook

So let's see Magic has an extra $1 million to throw around like its nothing. His two options:

1. Donate it to a worthy cause. Like oh, I dunno AIDS treatment research?

or

2. Give it to the millionaire who can jump the highest

He has. But there is no reason, anywhere, anytime, where an NBA legend should be handing a million bucks over to the highest paid player in the NBA. Like someone else said if they change it up and say there will be a donation to the charity of their choosing, fine. But don't give a million to the f'n winner.

Lebron will still skip the dunk contest and later say "im donating the 1m out of my own pocket"

That excuse doesn't work if Magic is going to donate 1 million of HIS money to LeBron's charity. LeBron can give all he wants, but by refusing the offer, he is still robbing the charity of Magic's donation.

you guys all have no business IQ

if magic gets to participate in the dunk contest for 1 mil, he can ask the NBA or Sprite or whatever company benefiting from the publicity to give him back more than the million

it's good business

i can realistically see lebron not even passing the first round even if he pulls off the best dunks of his life.

he's not a contest dunker. doesn't need to be to prove anything.

In high school he perfectly replicated Carter's 2000 performance. Plus unless MJ is one of the judges it will be rigged for him. Only way he loses is if he misses dunks, which won't happen with James.

Blake Griffin
Demar Derozan
Dwight Howard (If he's healthier and has more of his jump back)

That would be a perfect lineup.

Defending Champion
Superstar every has wanted in it for ages
Super athletic PG
Previous Champion (even if it was rigged)
Athletic Wingman (who was robbed twice)
Previous Winner

And none of them are over the hill either :applause:

How many dunk contests did Magic do for the good of the game?

Babalu
03-02-2013, 02:56 PM
maybe i'm just a cyncist, but this just seems like an ESPN job more then magic wanting to see lebron.

EPSN: Hey magic, dunk contest has sucked ass last few years. Heres a million dollars, go call out lebron on national television. If you do we'll keep you around another year.

magic: no problem, i wanna see lebron in the contest anyways.

ESPN: make sure you talk about it nonstop for the next 11 months.

and now ESPN will continue to talk about it and get the rating and try to up the exposure and all that crap.

to me it just seems like a win-win for ESPN/NBA so i wouldn't doubt that they put up the money.

Does he have creative dunks? I always see normal dunks in the dunk contest. at least some are creative, they bring in props or use out of bounds territory (dwight 2008)

It's cool if you look at what it means for the NBA, but it's bogus on Magic's part. He's trying to call out LeBron. He's not offering him 1 million. It's more like he's betting LeBron a million if he enters that he can't win.

I think if Bron entered he would win it just by being LeBron. All he'd have to do is not drop the ball. Still, it would be great to see it happen.

It would be cool to see them pool together 1 million dollars from various sources as the prize for the dunk contest ever year, too. The dunk contest used to be the best part of all star Saturday, now I don't even turn the shit on.
