Without Shaq and Horace Grant in the line-up, Penny needed to step up, and he did. 39 points (25 in the first half) on 17/25 FG with 5 rebounds, 6 assists and game winning dunk with 0.7 seconds remaining - 39 points was a career high for Penny at that time.

Bulls were still without MJ in this one fighting for the playoff spot (26-28 record).

Magic won the game 105:103.

Huge fan of the 2nd Best to wear #1 in Orlando Magic history.

He was almost every bit as smooth as the all-time greatest to wear #1 in Orlando Magic history.

T Mac idolized Penny growing up and ends up surpassing him.

Both are great and I enjoy watching both.

Imagine if T-Mac, Penny, and Grant Hill all could have stayed healthy and had longer careers in Orlando.

That's quite a perimeter legacy.

All at the same time? I always thought those 3 players' skills overlapped a whole bunch.

Wasn't there some chemistry issues between Hill and T Mac when they were in Orlando?

All these great players and we still have 0 championships sadly. :/
From what I've read and seen of Hardaway he was a beast though

Agreed. I would take Prime Penny over Prime T-Mac.

This would be the first time I've ever heard of this. The main issue was Hill was never on the court during Tmac's prime there.

Penny finished 3d in MVP voting in the 1995-96 NBA Season. I wish Shaq stayed in Orlando. He and a healthy Penny could have won an NBA championship in the post Jordan Era.

And they also have the salary cap to add Hill or a young Mcgrady in 2000.
