No idea but i read awhile ago that they are only going to do 10 episodes per season instead of 14 and that they will be consecutive.

Only 10? That'll be the shortest season, EVER. (unless I'm mistaken, which I'm pretty sure I'm not). Damn, and if it's consecutive it'll be in the fall. If not, there would have already been advertisements getting the masses ready for the early spring ones.
I don't see how Comedy Central is getting away with such a short season? My guess is Matt and Trey had it in their contract that extended everything to what, 2015 if I'm not mistaken (again)?
I think we can all agree South Park isn't exactly the powerhouse LOL machine it once was, but it seems their last few seasons have lifted it from the trenches of mediocrity and made it relevant once again. I hope this new season can continue their progression back to greatness.
Not surprised, Matt and Trey said they wanted to focus on more things but weren't quite ready to leave South Park. Fewer episodes is a decent compromise.

If it boils down to quality VS quantity, then hell yes, give me 5 classic episodes over 15 trashy ones.

"There is no appointment viewing anymore," he said.
"In our first season, you had to show up on Wednesday nights at 10 pm on the Comedy Channel to catch the show. Now, I don't even know where or how people watch our show. We sort of don't really care about ratings. It's more important to come up with work that will add to the library in a way that we're proud of and will make people want to catch the show wherever they want to."
Added co-creator Trey Parker, "Now instead of putting out two albums a year, we are only going to do one, which is more manageable and ensures that it will be something we are proud of."
these guys are awesome.

As long as the episodes they do release are good It won't bother me to have less episodes in the season.

Good, they are going for even better quality work, seems like they agree with me that season 16 first half was shit.
