View Full Version : Denver NUGGETS Winning Streak

SpecialQue

Love them or hate them, the Denver NUGGETS are on fire. The Denver NUGGETS have 15 straight wins.

The longest streak of the season so far belongs to the Heat with 21 wins, which is the 3rd longest winning streak of all time.

18 wins would tie for 7th all time.
19 wins would tie for 5th all time.

I'm not saying the NUGGETS will be breaking the Lakers record 33 game winning streak, but they are in a position to gun for one of the longest streaks in NBA history.

How long can they keep it going?

Didn't they start out like 18-17 or something like that? They've been on a tear since then. Nobody can beat them at home.

As long as Miami is winning at a record rate, The Nuggets streak won't matter to the masses. I'm ok with that though. Glad to see them winning against quality teams too.. something that Miam can't say, at least for the last few games.

Whats crazier is a couple games before this 11 game winning streak they were coming off a 9 game winning streak. Denver opened up with a ridiculous schedule and kept themselves a float and ever since January have been balling as good as anybody sans the Miami Heat. 15 game win streak at home right now.

Very unlikely they touch 18 straight wins tho.

@ Chicago - Obviously can win this but nowhere near as good on the road as they are at home. Feels like they have been alot better on the road than they were at the start of the season tho.

@ OKC - Most likely where the streak ends. OKC is a better team and only have 4 home losses. Denver 30-3 at home, OKC 30-4. After beating them last game, you know they'll show up. If Denver walks away with a win than maybe you start thinking about 17-18 or whatever, but very likely loss.

Philly
Kings

Two games you should win. Denver has dropped games to some pretty crappy teams tho. Lost to Washington at home and while they are def improved anything can happen. Kings game is as close to a lock as anything, Philly could be dangerous.

@SA
Brooklyn
@Utah
Dallas
Houston
SA
@Dallas

Huge test against OKC on the 13th game where the streak could very well end. If they somehow won that game, 14/15 look really good. After that you have a road game against SA who only have 4 losses at home, Brooklyn who have a good team, Utah who have one of the best home teams in the league.

18/19 wins are out of reach at this point, 12 seems like the most likely if you'e a betting man. Maybe you stay hot and rip off 15 wins. That @SA, Brooklyn, @Utah after hypothetically beating the Thunder at home just seems extremely unrealistic to do.

He got beaned with a line drive, broke his neck. Took some time to recover, hasn't been the same.
Damn I hate when that shit happens. Pujols did that to Chris Young (he was on San Diego) a while ago. I think that ended Young's career effectively, not sure tho.

They didn't win at OKC, they beat OKC in Denver...on a Ty Lawson buzzer beater. Beat OKC in OT in the other game at Denver before that. We got Denver in OKC earlier in the year when Denver was on the second night of a back-to-back and killed them. I expect this next game (in OKC) to be much more competitive. Oh, and the Hawks and Knicks games were in Denver, too, and they haven't played the Bulls yet. That game is on Monday.

Still, they've got some impressive wins during the streak, albeit the most impressive ones have been at home where they're damn near impossible to beat and a completely different team. But still, you'd expect them to maybe drop one of those close games at some point, so kudos to the Nuggets.

Both Denver and Memphis both have the look of a "no one wants to play them in the playoffs" team right now.

That's what I get for not reading the first page of the thread.

Anyway...both streaks are impressive. I don't give a f**k who Miami's played during their streak. Winning 21 games in a row is incredible. And if the Nuggets get their streak to 18 games, that'd be equally impressive since that'd include wins @OKC, @SAS, and against the Nets. I'm not counting the Bulls, because they suck ass right now.

If the Nuggets win tomorrow I'll be impressed. Unfortunately, it is a back to back in OKC (After a road OT victory) so I won't be expecting much. Still hoping for a hard fought game but if they lose it isn't the end of the world (only the streak).

I'm pretty pumped for the game. B2B on the road after an OT game like you said, against one of the best teams in the league who also dominate on there home floor and you really can't be upset with a loss. Just gotta hope you keep things close, but if you do grab a win it's HUUUGE.

I don't think Denver was meant to go on a historical streak anyways. With the way the schedule is lined up, the game against OKC and eventually the one at SA/Utah with Brooklyn/SA again mixed in with Houston and doesn't look that probable.

Problem is....Nuggets strength of depth doesn't really help in the playoffs. Also, lack of superstar scorer again hurts in playoffs....so.....

But yes, right now, Nuggets are 2nd best team after Heat. All because of Gallinari, Chandler, and Mozgov.

Being an All star is so subjective.

I honestly believe that Denver has at least two players that are better to their counter parts that were in the ASG. Maybe even three.. Ty lawson, for example.

George Karl had some interesting comments about superstars

"It's a team that wins big, that make superstars"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmdM5pWJgg4

George Karl also stated that he doubts that Denver will ever bring in a "real" superstar.

the All-star team is basically a popularity contest, there are plenty of players who didn't make the team that you can make a argument for, and some who did make the team that shouldn't. Denver is loaded with a bunch of players who are border line stars with 2 or 3 who could possibly grow into all-stars. So how will the Nuggets do in the playoffs? I think it depends on coach Karl not changing the rotation, because the bench is a big part of this teams success, if their opponent wants to shorten their bench, fine, just continue to run ,sub in fresh players, and force then to either put in players they didn't plan to play or have a bunch of tired starters with their hands on knees sucking wind in the fourth quarter.

Yup! it's over, on to the next one.

It really sucked losing last night. In the grand scheme of things, i'm more interested to see how they respond to the loss with their next game being against San Antonio. If they Nuggets bounce back and win against the Spurs, that means more to me right now than the streak.
