I like Wall. He's a smart player who's just had the misfortune of being surrounding by morons until this season. Him not having any range on his jumper will hurt and, IMO, always keep him behind truly top young PGs like Irving but he just needs to continue to play smart, use his speed and athleticism and stay within his game.

He has a jumper now. Hit two 3 pointers with ease..some contested jumpers as well. He has been hitting these jumpers the past few games. Its not a fluke. Keep watching though. Wiz beat Thunder already this year. We play them again this Wednesday. I'm :sleeping though :coleman:

And against one of the best defensive teams in the league like Grizzlies, bet Tony Allen guarded him.

..."but still" nice?

If they were legitimate fouls, then it's even better that he got to the line so much.

His TS% was .69 . That's great.

And i didnt see the game, but if he got to the line 24 times, it's pretty likely that M Gasol or Z Randolph may have gotten in foul trouble. So he could have taken them out of the game as well.

And against one of the best defensive teams in the league like Grizzlies, bet Tony Allen guarded him.

Allen guarded him for a bit here and there, but the Grizz were really out of sync on offense when he was there and ended up playing Bayless or Pondexter on him for most of the night.

You know what stood out for me? +26 on the +/- ratio. I hate that stat with a passion but to get +26 vs the Grizzlies with 47 points, 7 boards and 6 dimes, that's just fukcing impressive.

He has been on a tear since the talks of him wanting a max contract.

Since his return from injury the wizards are 21-15 and next season they should be competing for homecourt in the first round.

8 assists and 7 rebounds need to be in the title of the thread as well.

There has never been a true 50 point triple double (lol at what happened at MSG a few yrs ago with them reviewing Lebron's rebound after the game though).

Wall was pretty close tonight. :applause:

Highlights from his game tonight here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_I4hhRKVjU)

Gotta say I'm surprised. Never really watched many of his games but in all of the few games I've seen him in he looked pretty bad. Always felt he was pretty overrated and overhyped, seen his pre-nba highlights and they weren't bad but they didn't really impress me either. Must say his recent play has changed my mind though, respect. Props to a great performance today, you'd think he actually had a jumper for a while :applause:

First time I watched a John Wall highlight video (HS), he reminded me of Wade. He's a dynamic player, both on offense and defense. If he starts hitting that jumper consistently... watch out.

First vid I saw of Wall.

Bayless was playing him tough and at times fouling him on the drive. He could have even got more free throws if anything.

Much better than Kyrie. Kyrie doesn't have the PG instincts of John Wall.

Both have mediocre mid-range jumpers, limited range, 6'4 athletic, very good passers, very good finishers. Only thing different is their positions....

How is Wade a mediocre mid range shooter? Over the last 5 years he shoots 39.5% from the midrange while Kobe who is considered an elite shooter from midrange shoots 40.3% over the last 5 years.

Not to mention Wade is shooting at a 43% clip this season, placing him at an elite level in terms of mid range shooting, better than Durant, Kobe and other respected mid range shooters.

Even young Wade had a good mid range game. In fact people say his jumper went missing these last 2 or 3 years. After the 08-09 season.

because wade shoots 39.5% on open jumpers, that defenses wasnt him to take, while kobe shoots 40% on tough contested jumpers, that defenses are trying to get him to not take.

you'd have to have never watched any of those guys play, if you think those stats mean that wade is a better midrange shooter than kobe or durant.

its pretty simple, i dont get how people have so much trouble with this

I never said hes better, but you're a fool if you think they're playing off Wade. What a load of BS logic. Wade isn't Rondo or Tyson Chandler from 15+ feet where you can lay off him. Enough with the bullshit.

I said YOUNG Wade not the current one. I've repeatedly stated how much Wade's mid range game has improved this season.

And yes young Wade was a mediocre mid range shooter. I might be selling him a little short but it wasn't good by any stretch. Slightly above-average at BEST. His slashing was what made him such a beast similar to John Wall.

I agree that young Wade wasn't the best mid-range shooter, but come on... Wade =/= Wall in so many ways.

Oh don't me wrong, I still believe Young Wade was the better player by a decent-sized margin but IMO I see many similarities. Do I think Wall will ever be as good as a prime Wade? No. Do I see 20/10 in Wall's future? Yes.

Hes gona have to do a couple more of these with the remaining games left to deserve a max contract offer. He is gonna get some offers but he still wont deserve it. i still think his game is injury prone.

He was NBA player of the week earlier in the month and now this. Stunning turnaround. For the month he is averaging 22/8 with 4.5 rebounds and 2 steals shooting 52% from the field, 50% from 3.

Last month he was ..... :facepalm

It's sad that people always have to bring up a comparison of someone "better" in threads like this. It's like no one one can achieve anything and have some praise because someone else has to point out someone better.

It doesn't matter if John Wall is better than Kyrie or if Kobe had close games like that before. Make a new topic if you truly want to discuss that. What matters is that Wall has finally had that switch lit under him to be able to compile some great games lately. He needs to be able to keep this going into next season and beyond. I just hope he doesn't get the max and feel that he needs to stop trying, hopefully he has that hunger inside of him.

do you think wade gets played as tightly as kobe does? of course he doesn't, and thats why that stat is irrelevant.
