Dont see how since they reported injuries for all 3.

As expected, now that that the streak is over. One could argue that Miami gave that game away, in Chicago, in order to rest. Wade basically came out and said he was glad it was over. Miami only cares about one thing. A championship.

In fairness, LeBron played through his injury in New Orleans so why can't he play tonight? If the Spurs made up injuries when they sent everyone home would that have saved them from the fine?

i dont think they should have been fined, but it was pretty obvious what the Spurs did that night

Heat may have done the same thing, but they can mask it much better since Mario had already been out with an ankle injury and Wade had just come back from an ankle injury of his own.

Mario Chalmers and Dwyane Wade will both sit out of tonight's #HEATgame with right ankle sprains.

Miami HEAT ‏@MiamiHEAT 20m
LeBron James (right hamstring strain) will also not play in tonight's #HEATgame.

How can anyone not want home court - especially in the Finals with 3 in a row at home? 3 in a row is difficult against any team.

I did a thread on this right after the streak was over.

http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=294562

But it makes a lot of sense. They have been playing with crazy pressure since the superbowl well more like for the last three weeks. Its not the same as the SA situation earlier in the year because it wasn't 20 games in and none of the SA players played more than 30 minutes per game (Parker was at 31 at that time I think).

Obviously, Miami can win out on the other games and maintain homecourt. This is the most loseable of all the games so why not rest.

But I think a fine is possible...simply because it's the 2nd leg. Would this be happening today if Pop didn't send the crew back to Texas earlier this year?

But, on the Heat's side, this is the end of the season. Guys get rest late in the year. It's quite obvious that Pop was trolling the league.

I dont really get this. They have a chance to get overall home court advantage over the spurs should the spurs somehow make a run of it and claim the best record in the league.

Miami probably feels fine about having to get a game in OKC or San Antonio. They've sealed the deal in the East already, so I don't blame Spo. Still, would've liked to see the teams play. :(

were the spurs scared of miami when they sat out their starters?

the idea that these professional athletes, who have gotten to the tops of their profession, based off of their competitive nature, would be 'scared' of their peers, is crazy to me. pretty much every nba player, coach, whatever, thinks that they are better than they are, and definitely dont fear any other team, certainly not any team, that in reality is pretty close to as good as themselves.

Yes because the Spurs didn't do the same thing in November. If anything the spurs are the ones that where scared. Its close to the playoffs why not rest the players when we've been playing hard every night for almost two months.

Because if you play the players and beat the Spurs, the Thunder might be able to grab the top spot. The Heat are definitely better than the Thunder so give them the better chance to make it to the finals.

This is more about strategy than rest. Otherwise they could have rested them against the hornets. Spurs are an old team relying on guile and coaching. Heat are a powerhouse who have no equal in the league. By pulling this it shows that they view the Spurs as a huge threat. If not, they could have rested them against NOH or during thr next game.
