I was looking Complex's Top 20 Most Gruesome Sports Injury Photos article, and some long jumper had a compound fracture that looked worse.

That's some scary shit. The long jumper is well-conditioned too, so that kind of leg injury could strike so unexpectedly.

I can't imagine what it would have been like to be on the bench and not see that coming. I only discovered this by seeing a headline about a "horrific injury". Seeing it happen right in front of you with no expectation whatsoever? Those players will be haunted by that for the rest of their lives. Amazing they were able to fight through.

YOU'VE SEEN. There's many people out there who haven't seen or come across anything like that. Coming from someone who can relate to you, seeing identical things, I still found the picture and video disturbing. Perhaps not as disturbing as the next guy, but because of the sole purpose of experiencing the same or more through my eyes than others.

I saw a leg break like that when I was a kid.

We were at a friends house, and we'd built a tree house. My brother and I and our friend. It was a few days later, and the friend's cousins came over. They were a little older, and acting like big shots. The older brother climbed up the tree, and wanted to hoist me up my a rope, but I wouldn't do it. So he talked his younger brother into doing it. He got almost to the top when he lost his grip, the brother fell, and the leg broke, bone through the skin, a little lower than where Ware's did. The kid screamed bloody murder, and I remember specifically him on his back, holding his legs up behind the knees, rolling side to side, and the foot wobbling back and forth below the break. I couldn't have been more than 6 feet from it. To this day it's an extremely vivid memory.
