ok I remember when the nba dress code was implemented

things that were required and things that were banned

I thought one of the requirements was a collared shirt.

past 3 years....I've seen younger players dressing just like teens/young adult dress.......like 70s DC superheroes

just saw clip of westbrook arriving at knicks game looking like average skateboarder...

Did I miss when the dress code was lifted?

I fault the dress code for turning the players into fashionistas

I don't think Stern cares. It was the throwback jerseys and oversized white tees that made him implement the dress code. Funny to still see Iverson rocking the same style

For the most part, I think the dress code was a good idea. Not that I care what the players wear, but Stern didn't want the league to be associated with the thug image.

I thought the dress code only applied to what you wear on the bench when not playing

Stern didn't want the league getting too ghetto looking.. Would detract from their older white population viewers. He doesn't care if they dress like ****.

Stern just wanted to eliminate the gangsta look. He doesn't care if players show up looking like queers or skaters.

The dress code was all about getting players to stop wearing thug clothes. Now, that fashion is out and we got hipster fashion instead.

I can't stand the hipster look, but it still looks way more nice than a Dominique Wilkins throwback jersey.

dress code was for injured players on the bench who gotta wear suits.

Dress code was in effect for team travel, bench, and post game press from what I remember

I remember specifically that sunglasses were EXPLICITLY banned from post game press after Damon Jones rocked a pair of shades during playoff post game presser.

Actually, if they really dressed like gangsters they would be commended...

No such thing, its only gangster.... "gangsta" is just a no self identity gangster wannabe created term from a italian/gangster/godfather/scarface inspired african-american sociopathic member of the inner-city underclass who's willingness to blatantly and horrifically misuse English is a necessity, known primarily for being antisocial, uneducated and display ridiculously baggy clothing and have access to guns and drugs because it's cool while refusing to allow themselves to climb up in society....

they're botth the scum of society

The term "gangster" came first and belongs only to the mafia and its gangsters who were actually ran by very high IQ intellectuals built around organized crime of racketeering, protection, and highly intricate systems of providing what the people want while benefiting the immediate community, as well as adhering to codes of honor established in medieval Italy..... "Gangstas" consider wildly running around in retarded clothing while selling crack because it's cool while refusing to allow themselves to climb up in society, like the Italian mobsters wanted their children to be able to do, as "gangsta". It is a disgrace to everything the mafia established.... replacing "er" with "a" wont do it.. :P

1. General Policy: Business Casual

Players are required to wear Business Casual attire whenever they are engaged in team or league business.

"Business Casual" attire means
A long or short-sleeved dress shirt (collared or turtleneck), and/or a sweater.
Dress slacks, khaki pants, or dress jeans.
Appropriate shoes and socks, including dress shoes, dress boots, or other presentable shoes, but not including sneakers, sandals, flip-flops, or work boots.

2. Exceptions to Business Casual

There are the following exceptions to the general policy of Business Casual attire:

a. Players In Attendance At Games But Not In Uniform

Players who are in attendance at games but not in uniform are required to wear the following additional items when seated on the bench or in the stands during the game:
Sport Coat
Dress shoes or boots, and socks

b. Players Leaving the Arena

Players leaving the arena may wear either Business Casual attire or neat warm-up suits issued by their teams.

c. Special Events or Appearances

Teams can make exceptions to the Business Casual policy for special events or player appearances where other attire is appropriate -- e.g., participation in a basketball clinic.

3. Excluded Items

The following is a list of items that players are not allowed to wear at any time while on team or league business:
Sleeveless shirts
Shorts
T-shirts, jerseys, or sports apparel (unless appropriate for the event (e.g., a basketball clinic), team-identified, and approved by the team)
Headgear of any kind while a player is sitting on the bench or in the stands at a game, during media interviews, or during a team or league event or appearance (unless appropriate for the event or appearance, team-identified, and approved by the team)
Chains, pendants, or medallions worn over the player's clothes
Sunglasses while indoors
Headphones (other than on the team bus or plane, or in the team locker room)

you watch tgoo many movies. gangsters are members of a violent criminal group, regardless of if they're black, white, asian, italian or whatever. so motorcycle gangs, yakuza, Mobsters, and "Gangstas" (lol) are all the same. youre trying to make it seem like the italians were cooler because they didnt sell crack and they wanted their children to have a better life ect. Dont talk about things you dont understand. A lot of people sell drugs to provide for their families. they are no better or worse than the Mobsters you seem to love so much. They are all murdering people when it comes down to it. "Codes of honor" there are such things among gangs too. but who cares about some "Code of honor" when they're all breaking the law and killing people?
