Do they have any criteria in deciding who's better or is it just the "experts" like http://www.terezowens.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/multiple-sources.gif that judge players by using their incredible experience and clearly unbiased views?

This.

And I don't think he belongs in the top 10. I think someone who has not played for a long time or will not play for the foreseeable future does not belong on this list at all.

They basically including him so there's no outrage.

I think Kyrie is a little high at 12. Prior to his latest injury and his sitting out a couple weeks, he was maybe playing at that level on a night-in, night-out basis, but I have a hard time having him that high this early in his career when he's still figuring out how to win and how to lead a team.

I'd say the 15-20 range would be a little more appropriate at this stage of his career.

Patrick Chewing
04-09-2013, 05:48 PM
Harden at 8 is a joke. He's unproven. His numbers do not reflect Melo's and his level of talent is nowhere close.

DAAAMN ESPN moved Westbrook, into Top 5? They were/are his biggest haters. Guess they are not nearly as blind and bashful as I thought.

But cmon when you take all around game, defense and team record into account, Paul and Kobe have no case over Wade. One guy missed 12 games on top of getting torched by every elite PG he faced and losing to every playoff rival past few months. The other is fighting for an 8th seed with that roster while giving 0 effort defensively.

But I guess their reputation is worth more than actual performance and wins, watch Kobe and Paul get 1st team All NBA and All defense again. :oldlol:

Let's try something different. ESPN wants to be original and tell us how wrong they were, so they will go:

1. James
2. Kobe
3. Durant
4. Westbrook
5. Paul

They can push the Durant vs. Westbrook agenda (whose team is OKC) and the Kobe is back (he has never been away) agenda this way.

To the casual fans Kobe was a top 3 player of all time two or three years ago in an ESPN poll. No, really. After ring #5 they ran this poll and Kobe was behind Jordan and Magic. I think he would be down at #5 on that list now if the poll was to be taken tomorrow, but I actually think the casual fan has LeBron as #1 and Kobe as #2 in the NBA today.

Everyone is going to judge ESPN on their own opinions. That doesn't make much sense after one has seen enough such lists. It's far more interesting to me to think about whether the list is a 'good one' for the general audiance or a good one for ESPN itself.

A list is good for the general audience if the end result reflects a hypothetical poll taken by 'everyone' who reads the lists. A list is good for ESPN if it creates controversy among the fanbase, because controversy sells. But how much controversy? By no means huge, because they have to remain 'experts' in the eyes of the general public.

A think ESPN does a good job if at the end of the day we say: well, this is an OK list, I'd give it 8 points on a scale of 10. That's a lot better than 9 or 10. A messge board is no message board if everyone agrees. The same is trus for such lists.

Generally accepted facts are not much fun to have a discussion of.

You serious? Kobe has been a ghost defensively and very one-dimensional. Taking into account current play he has no case.

It's so ironic how you can put Kobe #2 on his potential ability, yet ignore the same potential ability of Westbrook, when Kobe plays even more retarded than Westbrook more times. The double standard is just hilarious.

This year Kobe has no case over Durant, Wade, Paul, Westbrook, Melo, Duncan as far as impact, team record, all-around game and current play is involved.

No ESPN or NBA tv or sport show is going to comment on the ridiculous soft calls this guy gets that pad his numbers by getting to the free throw line ALL THE TIME for no reason.

Why would they sabotage their own business, money, and income? These sports shows, media talking heads get the most by overrating him.

If anything, Durant has become overrated. The comparisons to LeBron are absurd. I'm not even confident he's on the level he should be on ... Westbrook is arguably more important to the team. I think both the OKC guys are overrated.

They are not overrated, their coach is. Along with some really shitty role players that shouldn't be in the NBA.

Jesus christ give Pop Westbrook and Durant and under his guidance they would be a dynasty. Brooks has no plan, just ISO all day, he makes same old cliche speeches during timeouts while playing Fisher/Perkins out there.

They are not overrated, their coach is. Along with some really shitty role players that shouldn't be in the NBA.
LMAO OKC has amazing role players. Stop it. They perfectly compliment Durant and Westbrook. They are just flat out solid top to bottom. Ibaka, Collison, Martin, and Sefalosha. That team is extremely well built at each position. They have everything you need. Defense, shot blocking, rebounding, shooters, and scoring.

It's hard to coach a team and run an offense with a bad decision maker, and basketball meat head running the team who is un-coachable and runs full speed down the court like a retard and pulls jumpers out of his ass.

Their coach isn't anything special, but Del Negro is worse, and Chris Paul is smart enough to basically be the best floor general / coach on the floor in the game for them.

Trade Paul for Westbrook, and they become MUCH more frightening. A legit team who could compete or beat Miami.

@Money

LOL...now I know you don't watch or follow OKC.

Ibaka is nothing special offensively or defensively, outside weak side blocks. He jumps on every pumpfake, doesn't box out, suck at man to man D anc gets owned by any big. Thabo is a defensive role player with nothing else, poor man's Jimmy Butler. Martin is a horrible defender and inconsistent scorer that has been disappearing every other game. Collison is the only real good player. But OKC has Fisher/Perkins out there getting 15+ minutes. :oldlol:

When you compare their "help" to Miami, Clippers, healthy Denver/Knicks, Grizzlies they are pretty average.

And btw Brooks is the one asking Westbrook to be more aggressive and score, if you think what Westbrook does is against the coache's wishes than you are just delusional.
