View Full Version : Michael Jordan Tutored Melo Over a Weekend

Via Stephen A Smith show
Jordan invited Melo to his house over a weekend not too long ago. At 3am one morning Jordan wakes up, gets Melo and takes him to the basketball court; there Melo was taught a few moves and tricks of the trade by Jordan, information Melo will apparently "never reveal to anyone". According to Melo it has made him that much more unstoppable on the offensive side of the game. Melo feels now after Jordan's tutelage that if he misses shots its on himself and not because of some error hes made in executing a move.
Many thanks to MJ for taking Melo under his wing briefly

That's just Jordan making sure Durant doesn't challenge his 7 scoring tittles in a row.
Edit: 7 scoring titles in a row.

Good i hope Durant is dethroned
If true, I wonder why MJ or Melo didnt do this sooner.
Also, Melo doesnt appear to be making new moves or going to a go-to move. He just seems to have a lot more confidence in his shots now as before.

Thats in Jordans hands, its up to him. Just because youre a legend doesnt mean you have to help any of those that follow you. It couldve been a brief chance social encounter when Jordan mightve said "you know what, Melo's a good dude, let me help him out a little". A number of things could have happened

The Jordan Effect. Better than the Kobe System.

Durant chose not to prioritize the scoring title. Melo on the other hand hasn't shot under 20 times since March. The volume of shots being taken is the reason why Anthony wil be scoring champ, not the 3am phone call.

More proof that Jordan would absolutely dominate the league right now. No one would be able to stop Jordan in this era. Dude would probably win 15 championships.

Learn to read...wasnt a 3am phone call. Melo was sleeping at Jordans house over a a weekend and Jordan woke him up one day at 3am and taught him some things on the court, not a chat, an actual hands on tutoring situation

Additionally dipshit, unless youre hitting 100% of your 3's or getting bullshit foul calls where you shoot 20 free throws a game like Durant you cant score 50, 41, 40, 36, 36 points like Carmelo is doing without taking a good amount of shots.
Oh and Melo has shot 60% and over 50% in the majority of those games, so what kind of knock is shooting alot if youre making close to 60%? efficiency is efficiency.
See you in the playoffs ph@ggot. In the mean time go sip on some "Clam Chowdah" and hope "Gahhnett" can get healthy so theres no excuses when NY sends Boston home.

Maybe Jordan should find time to make his Bobcats better. That Jordan brand commercial with the Asian Bobcat player winning a title in Charlotte in 2050 probably won't happen if Jordan doesn't start helping his own players now.

Good for Melo. I just wonder if it's added confidence he mainly got from Jordan. Kinda similiar when everybody was hating On Melo because he was "holding" back Lin and Kobe called him and told him to do his thing.

You failed to comprehend a rather clever reference to the 2008 presidential campaign. Not my fault.

You are way too emotional. When NY eventually gets eliminated (and they will, they're not Champ caliber) you're going to go into a depression because you're far too caught up.
Oh and Melo has shot 60% and over 50% in the majority of those games, so what kind of knock is shooting alot if youre making close to 60%? efficiency is efficiency. It isn't a knock, it's reality: Durant chose not to match Anthony's shots.
See you in the playoffs ph@ggot. In the mean time go sip on some "Clam Chowdah" and hope "Gahhnett" can get healthy so theres no excuses when NY sends Boston home.

Exactly. Infact, if anyone actually pays attention, Melo is not doing anything differently on the offensive end. He's doing what he always does, just making shots. He's hot as hell right now, that's just it.

LOL that's what I was thinking. :oldlol:
MJ used Kobe as a pawn against LeBron in the All Star Game, too. Told him the defensive strategy, and put the cuffs on him.
MJ must feel the heat of Bron being the greatest threat to his legacy. And since he can't compete himself against him, others are going to have to do his work for him.

how is lebron a threat to mj? lebron's a beast, but his offensive game is so simple and linear there's just no comparison.
there's statistical similarities, but other than that all you have to do is have watched both play and know.
mj chose melo because he's the least jackass-y of the superstars of today.

A. MJ has tutored and aided many players during the years. Melo hasn't been the first and won't be the last. And YES that includes his own Bobcat players.
B. Melo and MJ have been close since Melo's rookie year, do people forget that he's signed to Jordan Brand?
C. In regards to the advice MJ gave him. I think somebody posted a link where Melo talked about this. It doesn't necessarily have to be some secret shit, but insight as to how to read the defense, how to execute better such as footwork, balance etc.etc.
D. For those saying that Kobe stans are mad
