If Paul is a better passer, why was Lebron doing all the ball handling, passing, and decision making on the 2012 USA team?
Lebron is the best scorer, easily. Talk to me when either Melo or Durant can shoot a FG% of 55% or higher.

Steve Nash
And many, many more.

lebron passing skills is so underrated, chris paul once said that lebron is a bigger stronger version of him.
scoring wise, he maybe not the best pure scorer out there, but when he's determined to score he can rival any scorer out there in the league.

Triple Crown mostly refers to stats, the main categories, not opinions.
In baseball, it's batting average, RBIs and HRs. In the NBA, it would be points, rebounds and assists.
lebron is the second best scorer, 3rd best passer, and 4th best perimeter defender
he does not have the crown for any of the categories you mentioned

second best scorer? he is behind kobe, melo, durant.... hell he is even behind guys like steph curry.
third best passer? he is not even top 5 in assists and he dominates the ball all game
lebeast666
04-18-2013, 09:41 PM
I don't know about best at all those. But he is the best at being an overall impactful player. Doesn't really focus on one thing but rather everything.

Sadly kobe is done so he is out of the conversation. He is only slightly behind durant when it comes to scoring. He is on the same level as melo since a case can be made for either for #2.
Only rondo and cp3 are better passers IMO. There are many point guards in the league who if given the opportunity have what it takes to be considered better passers but at this point bron has shown us that he has top tier court vision and pin-point passing accuracy so he does get credit for that. Steve nash at this stage of his career is not a better passer.

> Absolutely.
I wonder who in the past had a comparable combination... A lot of legends had two of those, not three.
Generally it's easier to find it in all-around PGs like Walt Frazier, Gary Payton, Chris Paul... Quasi-points like Pippen to some extent... But all of those weren't as "exceptional" in every one of these categories, especially scoring.
You have to go way back in time to find decent examples. Jerry West and Oscar Robertson among guards, and the outlier at center: Wilt Chamberlain. (Bill Walton was an exceptional passer and defender but not enough of a scorer to be considered).
EDIT: Forgot Jordan too, obviously.

Best scorer in the league subjective
best passer in the league subjective
best defender in the league subjective
........
Scorer: Lebron has a very strong case.
Passer: Lebron has a case if we are talking about court vision/passing skills here, not how many assists you can hot potato out as a balldominant 24-7 pass-first point-guard.
Defender: Lebron is the best allround defender in the NBA, he is the most versatile defender, if you mean by that then yes... but he is not the most impactful defender, there he is close anyways, but not the best.

Oh, tell me, how he does not have a case for being the best scorer? He has a 3rd highest career ppg in the history, has more 30 ppg seasons than Durant and Melo combined and he is the first player in the history to shoot 56/40, doing that on 27 ppg while getting the 2nd lowest amount of FTAs in his career.

Lol wut!?
Lebron is a ball dominant, as he has the ball all the time. If he doesn't get more assists is because he doesn't pass enough case closed. And don't even try to pretend he can play off ball.
in defense, while he is versatile he's not the best defender in the L. For example he struggles to defend Melo when he play against him, he does a job as good as anyone but not to the point of hurting his numbers that bad. The same can be said about Durant. That's because he has to get points though so it's not a knock on him, he's still pretty good.
