Their chemistry is incredible. Very high quality television.

Would you rather listen to Kenny, fat ass Charles, and that old ass white dude?

Exactly.

I never ****ing understand why people choose to hate on quality just to stick out. No one agrees with you punk bitch. ESPN halftime panel is the best group of experts the industry has. Shut the **** up and accept greatness and stop trying to stand out for attention.

Halftime shows are bullshit. none of these guys are "experts". It's all for ratings, cause the casual fans who don't know shit think these guys are basketball experts. They should dump all these moron ex-players and hire some ex-coaches who can actually analyze games intelligently.

Well, if you completely remove Kobe's salary, which is massive... San Antonio is still paying their players less than LA.

So, he has a point.

Magic is my favorite player of all time, greatest point guard in history, but no, I don't think he is an expert. Have you heard him talk basketball? do you remember when he tried to coach? I love the guy, but he just says some asanine shit sometimes. I think these stations just hire people that like the cameras and have some personality to spice up the show a little. I don't dislike any of these guys except for SAS and Bayless, I just don't buy into their opinions.

Magic is not any more of an expert "analyst" than jordan was an expert GM. Not only is his insight 'meh' but his delivery is abysmal. He has good personality of course but to me he'd be better suited to be a "rotating regular" who makes periodic appearances in the studio, like c-web or reggie do with the tnt guys.

Jalen has at least gotten better, which is more a testament to how bad he was at first because he's still not at a level worth keeping around. Simmons is awkward. He tries to do his column shtick on camera, with annoying results. Wilbon is good as a host from a technical standpoint of being prepared and articulate but he might honesty be the biggest suck-up and apologist of all nba players past and present. He slobbers over every star player to no end. He probably shows up to the summer camps that guys like lebron and howard hold for 10 year olds and tries to get their autograph. It's ridiculous.

Dumbest post of the year. Hands down. Congratulations **** face.

ESPN panel consists of two people analyzing that have never played an NBA game,a hall of famer that has trouble speaking proper sentences, and jalen rose. Smh. Absolutely horrible. TNT >x10. ABC s idea of hilarity is magic making a joke about wilbom telling on himself how old he is. Smh:facepalm

This is all true but part of the reason it is that way and isnt gonna change is because ABC (which is a disney company) is much more conscieus of keeping it clean and family friendly and PC than tnt. epsn isnt looking to take any risks as far as content and personalities. i think espn is more content to just keep the pregame show plain and get their revenue from the ratings of the games themselves, rather than take a pointless risk with a polarizing studio crew who might offend half their viewing audience.

Yea. I feel you. True with the comedy part, but having two guys that have played as many NBA minutes as me BREAK DOWN and ANALYZE the game, ain't right. They are just supposed to give facts and narrate, like Ernie does. It be like a muthafucca that's seen and heard a 3 click flare chirp, but can't do one and tryin to tell cats how to do it. Bothers me. Huge pet peeve. Leave that sh.it to the ones that have played. Smh.... And hire a pro that can speak proper and complete sentences.

Wilbon is the worst. Guy is some fat oaf that knows nothing about basketball and just sucks up to the players so he can get invited to their parties.(So I've heard). Always talks about how hes a Chicago fan since he thinks its cool to have a favorite team since that needledick Simmons lives off his whole persona of being a biased Boston fan.

But overall every single one of the ESPN crew guys suck ****, If I want to see that shit I'll open up some porno. Can't wait til the games are on TNT. The announcers/commentators/halftime crew. EVERYTHING is better. I wanted to slit my wrists listening to Doris Burke during the Nuggets game today.

I disagree. I thought that (pre-Shaq) Charles, Ernie and Kenny were the BEST. Sometimes Inside the NBA was better than the actual games.

they go from one formulated statement to another, instead of having a conversation. NBA TV and TNT talk about the game and sometimes get side tracked but it feels organic, they sound like real people that you could have a drink with and watch basketball

Espn is great. sure they're not as good as TNT but simmons is funny and Rose is funny entertaining in a non ironic sort of way. Magic is metally handicap and Wilbon is... Well nothing, totally replaceable but not a drag on the show or anything. Does anyone remember last year when they had John barry on? That was horrific. Long live Simmons! I wish it were just him Joe house and Zach Lowe doing the half time report.

I know it was pretty much a **** it, why not? situation, but when you listen to Magic can you believe he was an NBA head coach for a minute.

Why they don't put Rusillo on the crew is beyond me. The problem isn't even that they're all dumb, it's that they need a legit emcee. It's just four dudes talking otherwise. Give Scott van Pelt the Simmons role, replace Magic with Rusillo, boom, infinitely better.

to be honest, simmons isn't dumb. he just isn't good for tv. hes annoying and has a whiny voice. He should just stick to his column. I've read his book and its got good analysis. a lot of people just arn't meant for tv.

the other three though are legit morons thoughI agree, I have no major qualms with Simmons, he just isn't good off the cuff. His podcasts are decent when he's dictating the topic and has the luxury of having plenty of time to ruminate, same with his writing (even though he's on a pretty steady downward trajectory there) but he's just terrible live and just comes off as a fanboy, OMG THAT'S MAGIC JOHNSON! JALEN! TELL ME ABOUT CHAMPAGNE'ING AND CAMPAIGN'ING WITH ANTONIO DAVIS!

They need someone to call the rest of them on their bullshit. Rusillo would absolutely do that. If you want a quick witted emcee to head it, that's van Pelt. Shit, get those two, have Legler (who's not great, but far better than most ex-players) replace Jalen, and keep Wilbon I guess, he does have good connections. Rusillo/Legler/Wilbon/van Pelt, that's a show I may be interested in watching, in theory anyway.

Just get Magic off the ****ing TV.

Every major network NBA panel sucks.

ESPN/ABC/Disney show is ingratiated with halfwits..

TNT obnoxiously panders to their panelists' egos and sponsors..

The late night ESPN NBA show is just a giant daily recap..

The pickings are piss-poor for any quality network TV NBA anlysis outside of any local broadcasting, which is homer-driven and devoid of objectivity..

Why's there no like 3 man panel of bloggers that puts out nightly breakdowns on Youtube? There's a TON of really, really intelligent (basketball wise) hoops writers on the internet. Like a 15 minute nightly recap, maybe a half hour breakdown type thing once a week. I'm not talking a studio show, just a Skype/Google+ thing. Maybe there is and I just don't know about it. Like get Mike Prada, Coach Nick, then a guy to keep it a little light like JE Skeets (or whomever, there's plenty that could do that). Seriously, I'd subscribe to that.

With all of the money that network executives make, why is it so hard to put together a solid group of commentators? Its like they're just throwing "big" names out there to see if something sticks.

People like Shaq and Simmons, in particular, should NOT be on tv -- point blank. As already noted, every single one of the ABC half-time commentators have their own issues. I'll give Magic a break for being an all-time player, but he needs someone to pick him up -- not to be the anchor of the group.

I'm looking at a guy like Israel Gutierrez, who does the NBA podcasts with Bruce Bowen. Gutierrez is sharp and comes with good analysis, without all of the athlete clich

Do you listen to the NBA Lockdown podcast at all? If not, then don't talk trash on something you don't know about.

Forgive me if I don't recall every single insightful thing he's ever said on that broadcast, but he does a very solid job. I would be very intrigued to see what he could do on a network panel.

Also, as I recall, Gutierrez has done some good work on Around the Horn.
