Great attitude to have. However, that's the sort of thing that happens when you have a guy like LeBron in the league. Best of luck to KD for attaining his desires in basketball, though.

So how many "I thought he meant about being 2nd best or 2nd option on his team" or "he needs to stop whining" posts does this generate?

I love the quote, and love knowing he's not satisfied with where he's at right now. With that said, even if OKC gets out of the West, they're not beating Miami this year. I hate it as much as anyone else, but I can't see them beating Miami this year. Hell, I'm not feeling good about the potential second round match-up with the Clippers with the way they're playing.

I don't think anything of Durant Bron working together during off season.

Just because they play against each other on the court doesn't mean they must avoid each other at all times. They are not sworn enemies. They don't hate each other. One did not get the others girl pregnant. They're just two of the best players in the world playing basketball to win.

I don't know the quote word for word but there's a saying that goes like this.

"You are a result of the 5 closest people you keep around you." Durant and Bron are both good company. If anything they'll learn more about each other making the match up more interesting during actual games.

:oldlol: at Lebron with the hipster glasses instead of Dolph Lundgren's picture.

So what is KD going to chop wood and pull a sled in the freezing cold while Lebron trains with PEDs in a high tech facility?

The real question is, would KD stopping a potential Heat dynasty be more impressive than Rocky ending the cold war?

If Durant wants to beat LeBron and be the best player, then LeBron is going to have to become his enemy. Durant has to want to humiliate LeBron.

LeBron doesn't see Durant as a threat to be better than he is, which is why he has no problems working out with him. I guarantee you that if Durant had the same competitive edge as say a Manu or Kobe then LeBron would not be buddy buddy with Durant in the off-season. Durant needs to become an assassin.

Durant is tired of being 2nd? Well then try harder. Start taking HGH with LeBron in the offseason lol.

Seriously though at almost any other time in the past decade Durant would have been considered the best player in the NBA. It's just LeBron is that much better than he is.

I think Durant is on the right path, and since he is so young he will be the best player in the NBA some day. LeBron will eventually decline to the point that Durant will pass him, Even if it takes another 6 years, Durant is so young that it will happen.

Eh, I wouldn't say he was exposed so much as the Cavs were exposed. I don't think Lebron was as good as the stats suggest in that series since Orlando seemed content to let Lebron "get his" vs Pietrus, and Lebron was very ball-dominant, but Orlando consistently exploited match up problems with Mike Brown failing to make a single adjustment to counter the match up problems Lewis and Howard caused, or how they defended screen/rolls as well as their offensive system proving incompetent and nothing more than "Lebron-ball" when push came to shove.

But I can't say Lebron played poorly, he pretty much kept Cleveland competitive by himself(you can never literally do that, but this was as close as you're going to see). Game 1 is a Cavs win if not for a game-winning 3 by Lewis, same with game 4 if not for another 3 by Lewis that sent that to OT where the other match up problem(Howard) continued to dominate Cleveland with 10 points in OT.

cavs were overwhelming favorites going into that series. lost 2 games by 2 points or less in which Lebron bricked game winner or was too punk to take the last shot.

Lebron hit a classic game-winner in game 2, and how does this suggest Lebron's game was exposed if they lost by 2? They lost with the other key Cavs playing poorly and both Lewis and Howard killing Cleveland.

If you can't see the correlation between the last two off-seasons with Lebron and KD working out together and the developments of their games mirroring the other (KD becoming more of a facilitator and noticeably more aggressive on his drives to the rim in comparison to previous years, AND Lebron going from a heavily unreliable jump shooter to a 40% 3PT shooter ), then you are notably blind.

KD working out with Lebron was good, it helped him improve his overall game. Problem is, it also helped improve the game of his rival, whom was ALREADY a better player than him.

You can't surpass your rival if you are helping him continue to be better than you. Just my two cents.

Lebron is gonna be 29 in 8 months, he won't be at this level for long beyond 30. Wade is gonna be 33 and Bosh 28. While Westbrook/Durant/Ibaka are 23-24. When Lebron falls in his 30s, Durant will be entering his peak/prime at 26-30 along with Westbrook and Ibaka.

By then OKC will be the best team in the NBA and Durant will actually start winning multiple rings.

What's wrong in using him as motivation to get better? He may or may never get on his level but I sure as hell don't mind him trying. Sometimes I wonder if people here like Basketball or they just like hating on every player that isn't THEIR favorite player :facepalm
It's ISH. It's turned into a big collection of Kobe and LeBron stans. As sad as it is, the responses in this thread are exactly what I expected.

Guess the SI author didn't have the balls to ask if there was a parallel to be drawn between always finishing second and his constant deferral to Westbrook.

I like this attitude.

Same attitude Rose had when he said, "Why can't I be MVP?"
(dude's a joke now tho :lol )

Anyways, who was the #1 HS player???
As is KD.

Well now he can be second on his own team

Durant is apparently tired of being second his whole life. As per the SI cover:

"I've been second my whole life. I was the second best player in high school. I was the second pick in the draft. I’ve been second in the MVP voting three times. I came in second in the finals. I’m tired of being second. I’m not going to settle for that. I’m done with it."

So he basically quit.
