In Europe, Patrick Beverley had a reputation for injuring players in Europe by accident. His usual way of doing this was to knock players into objects on the sideline accidentally.

He didn't actually injure Spanoulis. I used him as an example of the play that happened with Westbrook. Spanoulis had a bad hip injury before the 2010 Greek League Finals. He was getting pain relief injections so that he could try to play through it.

This was widely reported in Greek media. Beverley was a third string point guard on Olympiacos (Spanoulis played with Panathinaiks), and Beverley's role was as a defensive specialist for like 10 minutes a game.

The coach of Olympiacos, Panagiotis Giannakis said that Beverley was signed just for the specific task of trying to guard Spanoulis in the playoffs.

After it came out that Spanoulis had a hip injury, suddenly in the next game, he ended up being knocked into the advertising screen at the side of the court, not once, but twice by Beverley.

In both cases, it was on a play for the ball, and Beverley seemingly did it on accident after running wildly into Spanoulis to go for a steal.

The second time, Spanoulis flew across the floor and really hit the ad screen hard, and interestingly enough, he landed exactly on his injured right hip - just exactly where the media reports said his injury was.
