View Full Version : Anyone else loving these low skilled Big Men getting exposed hard in playoffs?

My favourite thing come playoffs is watching scrub/low skilled big men everyone rates during the regular season getting trashed by skilled bigmen during the playoffs.

All the skilled/high IQ/naturally talented (minus athletic ability) bigmen in this years playoffs have been thriving from Bogut, Gasol, Duncan, Z-Bo , Landry, David West, Noah, Lopez amongst others I can't think off right now.

On the other hand all these Big men who primarily rely on athletic ability have been getting crapped on

Bogut/Landry clowned Faried/Magee
MGasol/Zbo - overpowered and outskilled the Clippers frontline to the point where it was sad to watch
Duncan >>>>>>Dwight
Ibaka since Westbrook went down has shown to be Bismack Biyombo 2.0
Noah/Lopez were good great

Nothing warms my heart than seeing scrubs who require spoon feeding constantly have to actually step up and fail badly trying to actually do something which requires skills. People need to seriously stop overrating these athlete first types because come playoffs they disappear pretty quickly.

ibaka has no basketball skills

to be honest Scott Brooks probably tell him SERGE YOU GRAB BALL AFTER SHOT, YOU NO SHOOT BALL

Ibaka is one of the worst players skill wise in the league, he gets by on out of this continent athleticism..

I know how you feel.

I laughed when people said Griffin was gonna be better than Malone. People laughed at Chuck when he dared to criticize his game.

People today are too caught up with the flashy athletic players, but fail to realize that the game eventually comes down to toughness and skill. That's what the NBA was like in prior eras. Today's fans love to concentrate on the dunks and say "McHale would've been getting KILLED today!!!" no he wouldn't

They 'assume' that because big men from past eras couldn't cross over people, shoot fadeaway 3 pointers and dunk between their legs that they sucked. But as has been proven over and over, athleticism is overrated while toughness is underrated.

The main reason today's wing players flourish is because the big men are weak inside. The lane isn't clogged combined with soft touch rules, their speed and athleticism is enhanced. But once the game becomes physical and grimy, it becomes a different story.

Ewing would be considered a GOD in today's era.

I rate Marc Gasol over Dwight though.

As someone who has watched Ewing, DRob, Hakeem and all star big men such as Daugherty in the 80s and later Mourning, I think these guys would shit on today's competition big time.

As you said, Ewing would be considered an extraterrestrial today, putting up 28/14/3 easily.

Riley says some STUPID things - like the Lebron thing (did he forget the whole MJ era?). Definition of hustle: to play a game or sport in an alert aggressive manner

That's not a skill - it's EFFORT which can be turned on or off.

Not entirely, if you've followed or watched both teams throughout the season instead of watching the box score, you'd notice a couple of things:

1. Tyson hasn't been the same since his neck injury

2. Tyson did shut down Hibbert in the regular season games (3 out of 4 of them I believe)

3. I don't think anyone expected Chandler to dominate Hibbert as he is offensively retarded

But I would agree that Chandler has played horribly, however, Hibbert's success is attributed to Chandler's injury and shortcomings as opposed to Hibbert's great play.

In 8 playoff seasons Tyson Chandler has only one where he performed up to standards defensively, yet somehow that season is the norm and not all the other times he has sucked.

There's more, too. He is always goes the exact position to make his opponent annoyed.... and stands right there. Then when the guy goes to his second favorite position....... there's Noah. By now there's just 10 seconds left on the clock and more than likely the big guy is out of position for a shot so the paint game was destroyed for that posession.
He defends passing lanes as well as anyone in the league right now.
