Thinking of getting a tattoo. I do not have any tattoos, but after so many trails and tribulations in my life, I still feel that i'm still getting nowhere. This tattoo of the goddess would be a guardian angel to lead me to the correct path in life.

This tattoo depicts "Kuan Yin" or Goddess of Mercy, which is an asian equivalent of Mother Mary. The Goddess of Mercy represents compassion, mercifulness and peace. The lotus on her head symbolizes purity.

The turbulent waters below represents life struggles. The dragon which in western countries is usually maleovent, is benevolent in asian countries. The dragon represents courage, strength and vitality.

The Goddess seemingly floating above the water shows that one would always come ahead of life's struggles if one presevere. The hand symbol she is showing is a "Shuni Mudra", which means patience/preseverance.

At least you know what it means, and have some reasoning. Its all personal, if you think it/she represents you well, do it.

While judging picture as an art or judging its beauty , I am not a fan of it, but nothing bad.

Why would you want someone on the internet to tell to whether or not you should get a tattoo ? You need to know that yourself...
picture looks nice tho

Get a tatto of a butt and put it on your butt. That would be cool.

As a first tat that shit has some major details and shit. You should try something smaller first to get the feel.

Not going to tell the OP to get on or not to get one but personally I wouldn't get a tattoo.

Granted, he has a good reason for it but you don't need a tattoo of a goddess to look over you like an angel if you are disciplined yourself.

This is what I was thinking too. That's a HUGE tattoo to start with. And backs (especially along the spine) are pretty painful. It looks good though. When I saw "this goddess" I thought it was gonna be a link to a pic of like Kate Upton or something :oldlol:

How much of your back are you planning to cover? We talking full back? If not, just make sure you don't get it on your lower back. :oldlol:

It's actually a pretty cool looking tattoo.

It's a tranny though.

"Guanyin is the Chinese name for Avalokiteśvara. However, folk traditions in China and other East Asian countries have added many distinctive characteristics and legends. Avalokiteśvara was originally depicted as a male bodhisattva, and therefore wears chest-revealing clothing and may even sport a moustache. Although this depiction still exists in the Far East, Guanyin is more often depicted as a woman in modern times. Additionally, some people believe that Guanyin is androgynous (or perhaps neither).[8]"

Are you asian? If not you'll look like a douche to 90% of the population if your rocking an asian tattoo regardless of it's meaning to you

I know right. How dare he venerate a Buddhist goddess?

Buddhist gods are Asian race exclusive iconography!

Also, Asian people will HATE you for liking something Asian!

That's not what I mean, the vast majority of the public will think someone with one tattoo from another country will assume their an idiot. They won't know the explanation or story or even if the person with the tatt is a buddhist they will assume they just picked a cool image. Sad but that's how society is these days. I think it looks pretty cool and wouldn't put it in the category of generic tribal tatts as it has a legit meaning but most people won't know that
