View Full Version : if Melo retired today, what is his greatest accomplishment?
The scoring title?
I'll give some examples using other top tier players (because Melo is top-tier, right?):
Kobe: "I'm a 5-time NBA champion."
LBJ: "I'm a 4-time league MVP and NBA champion."
Duncan: "I'm a 4-time NBA champion."
Nowitzki: "I'm an NBA champion."
Hell, we can even use Durant as an example:
Durant: "I led my team to the Finals."
What about Melo?
Melo: "I led the league in scoring... once." :oldlol:

The scoring title?
It can't be the Olympic golds because he was one of the many many many stars as opposed to *THE* star. If not the scoring title then what is it then?Being OP's daddy!

1. All-Rookie First Team
2. Became first NBA rookie to lead a playoff team in scoring, since David Robinson.
3. MVP of Rookie Challenge (2005) (This was that Rookie vs. Sophomore squad).
4. Turned the Denver Nuggets from a laughing stock into a playoff contending team.
5. Leading Syracuse to a NCAA title.
Just to name a few.

Which one is his greatest career accomplishment though? If Kobe retired today, he could say 5x NBA champion. If LBJ retired today, he could say 4x MVP. Melo?

Carmelo is a good player, but he's just under that A tier.

He's not Lebron or Durant. he's with current Wade (because Wade is always hurting, not if Wade was 100% and most of the others). But no way is he Lebron. We all know that. YET 100 times a day we get LEBRON WON A TITLE...MELO DIDN'T. No shit.
But for people who want to use that to paint Melo sucks i don't get at all.

Well, to be fair, Knicks fans were trolling the shit out of lebron/heat fans before he won a ring.

NCAA Champion, Gold Medalist, Multiple All Star Appearance.
Some of you guys are really blinded. Barkley, Ewing, Malone, Stockton, and so many more didn't win the big one.
Melo could do so more but time will tell. Wasn't it also a few years ago people were doing the same thing to Dirk?

In the west how many times did Melo lose the Eventual NBA champion?
That's my point exactly. Their story and time are over. Melo's not. People were saying similar things about Lebron not winning the big one and being a choke artist. When he formed the new superfriends he was finally get over that hump. Some might say that it's tarnished on how he got it. Others won't

Yeah, but probably less than the OP (or any average person) would have done if they had Melo's talent.
He was talented and didn't work too hard (we can see this by looking at his body, no homo...he looks like an average guy off the streets not a professional basketball player).
He also acted like an idiot (stop snitchin' video, sucker punch on that knicks player, crying and whining all the time, dui i believe, marijuana charges i believe, etc).
Therefore, the OP can talk smack about him all he wants.

Can you tell Durant doesnt work hard by looking at his body too? Melo's physique has nothing to do w/ his work ethic, its just his physique.
BTW "lol at he looks like an average guy off the streets". Yea, plenty of 6'8 230 lb guys walking around the streets

fixed.

I don't know about you but it's better to have lost in the Finals than never make it at all.
his 2009 season:
- top 2 small forward
- top 9 overall
- his teams best player in the regular season
- his teams best player in the playoffs
- leading his team to the western conference finals
- playoff averages of 27.2ppg, 5.8rpg, 4.1apg, 1.8spg, 0.6bpg, with only 2.3to pg

U just might be the dumbest poster on ish. Everybody isnt built to have a body like lebron and dwade. He isnt as built as them yet he is just as strong if not stronger. Kevin durant looks like a african in those feed the children infomercials yet the dude is cat quick and i bet he is stronger that how he looks. Your logic is flawed. Everybody cant be 5% body fat with muscles in their ears.

EDIT: to say that paul pierce is another player who re-enforces your original point about body types ... PP34 is one of the stronger palyers inth e league, his body shape/type give him much more core strength than you'd think
