Jackson said. "When we played in Chicago that season, I orchestrated a meeting between the two stars, thinking that Michael might help shift Kobe's attitude toward selfless teamwork. After they shook hands, the first words out of Kobe's mouth were, 'You know I can kick your ass one on one.'"

is there anything he cant do?

:applause: the exact attitude we should expect from him.

If Jordan was still playing, and Lebron met him, he would say, "Can I join you?"

I actually respect that type of attitude.

It's better than some weak ass response like, "Jordan is my daddy, I can't do a damn thing to him." ~ Lebron James

Love Kobe's game, but he's an MJ derivative. The best of them, but a derivative nonetheless. I don't know how the clone beats the original.

Eh.. Better than him saying, "Jordan, I love you! Can I have your autograph?! Will you take a picture with me? Will you sign my jersey? Can I suck your dick? Can I touch your head? Can I hug you? Can we exchange phone numbers?"

I wouldn't doubt it. They're as close as it gets. Would've gotten the second most views on public television after Lebron's Decision.

This is also a quote from the article.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
If Bryant talked to teammates in his earlier years with the Lakers, it was usually, "Give me the damn ball," Jackson wrote.

"But then Kobe started to shift. He embraced the team and his teammates, calling them up when we were on the road and inviting them out to dinner. It was as if the other players were now his partners, not his personal spear-carriers."

He can sure come up with some wild ideas. Like beating MJ one on one.

Prime MJ woulda whooped the shit outta that kid. Prime MJ would shut down prime Kobe. Young Kobe would be light work for him.

I don't know why people said that Kobe is scared of Kyrie.

Kobe even told the cameras to film them shaking hands on the bet.

Kyrie is currently saving for that 50k to play Kobe.

also, Kobe threatening an old 40 something year old Jordan?

I think it just shows more that Kobe is and always will be obsessed with the concept of "hero ball", he values being a 1-on-1 player so much and isn't as interested in the team concept as a whole.

He completely missed the point of what Phil was trying to do in getting him to meet with Jordan.

It's also why Kobe will never be able to defer to Dwight.

How is this a trait to be glorified?? Imagine you introduce an intern to a professor, and the intern says "you know I could come up with a better thesis than you on string theory."

How the hell is this some great trait???? That's disrespectful to say that to another grown man. A scum of a man off the court, granted, but disrespectful nonetheless.

You people come in here and act like Kobe's response is some cute, precocious "warrior attitude," when in ANY OTHER WALK OF LIFE, it's not a normal, social thing to do, it would just make you look like a weird person.

Everything I just said is a moot point if they were already on a cool level with each other, to be talking like that.

This is pretty much it right here. He's so much of a good 1-1 player, that this skill alone can usually make his teams successful. He was never a team player, never will be. He's essentially the greatest, most successful ball hog in the history of Western civilization.

Meh, Kobe is extremely competitive. That's a big reason of why he's great, but it's also a big reason of why he comes off as aloof, awkward and obnoxious. Most people in the world want to just fit in whereas people like Kobe always have a need to prove something.

It's a blessing and a curse. A blessing in that he's gotten to play a game that's brought him more fortune than he could ever need. It's a curse because what's his challenge going to be once the game is done with him? A lot of great players struggle with that.

Kobe's not some chump off the street trying to conform by not stepping on anyones toes. He doesn't give a shit if people like him or not, he just wants to be GOAT.

I wouldn't want to be Kobe's teammate and put up with his shit daily, but if I'm trying to win a game there's no one I'd rather have
