The Oklahoma City Thunder are not considering using the amnesty clause on Kendrick Perkins.
"We just haven't considered using the provision. ... We think Perk has a lot of value to our team," Sam Presti said Saturday.
Perkins is set to make about $18 million over the next two seasons.

Durant and Westbrook are both young still. Same for Ibaka.

What is that value he's speaking of? He gets 9m/year for being a detriment to his team. They could hire a D-Leaguer for the minimum and he couldn't do worse.

One of the biggest myths in the NBA. Perkins doesn't do shit against Dwight.
At most, he's a Bynum stopper. But Bynum is stopping himself more than anyone else.

Presti is letting the great team he built go to shit. They peaked last year. Don't see this current team getting back to the finals, even with healthy westbrook. Mainly because of Scrubkins getting 30 mins a game.

The Thunder should consider sending a first round pick and Perkins out for a trade exception to a team in rebuilding.
They can then use that trade exception to sign another big.

Hope OKC keeps losing until Scott Brooks gets fired along with Presti and Perkins is finally gone, Durant+Westbrook with Popovich would be a nightmare, but instead we get to watch them carry scrub teammates and coaching staff. Lets pray they get the **** outta OKC and that horrendous management.

I read an article about how they don't actually save money when they amnesty him. If noone claims him they still have to pay him out but his contract is off the cap number. So they would be free to sign other people.

Perkins was really good in Boston. With him, Celtics could go with single coverage against Dwight all game long and beating Magic became more easier as they were the main opponent during those years. Offensively he averaged 8-10 ppg as a 5th option(full credit to Rondo though), used to free up Ray Allen all the time as that was basically THE Celtics offense.
He was also a mean presence in the paint which the Celtics lack right now. Although not a good rebounder, he is used to be terrific in boxing out the opposing team's best rebounder so KG can gobble up that rebound.
The main problem with the current Celtics is they can play elite defense for 24 seconds but are easily prone to giving up the offensive board and thus wasting everthing and this rarely happened with KG and Perk front court!
I really won't mind getting Perk back if OKC amnesties him.

Let it sink in OKC fans: For the next 2 years, you'll be watching this dude play 20+ minutes a game, blowing layups left and right, only getting a few rebounds, turning it over, bricking jump shots (you're open for a reason bud), and getting paid a shitload to do all of this. Oh yeah, and you'll have Scott Brooks foolishly insisting that his "veteran presence" is of immense value to the team. Just another lame duck coach that happened to luck into a really talented roster and is no danger of being fired just because his team has a really good record.
I'm not even an OKC fan, but it's a shame to see how much of a step back they took this year.
