Dumbest decision by a coach in a long time. I don't think I remembered a bone headed move like this since.....well.....not the dumbest. Dumbest would be D'antoni playing Kobe 50 minutes.
Vogel was still pretty stupid for benching Hibbert. Hibbert is defense.

still very bad coaching to sit your best rim protector when you literally made the same call 10 seconds earlier on to see lebron cruise to the basket and make an uncontested layup.

That's exactly the face my gf does when she's underwhelmed by one of my decisions. Such a relatable reaction by Hibbert.... says it all !
Seems like a classy and smart dude though, was very elegant handling the shit-starting media at the end.

Where was the help, Hibbert or not?
They pointed this out many times after the play...
2.2 seconds is very hard to guard, because it's long enough for a player to drive to the rim, but not long enough for a help defender to get to whoever ends up with the ball. But for sure they could have handled that play better.

Vogel knows having his best players in isn't going to make a difference if the refs are going to let lebron travel

Wade jumped before LeBron laid it in... as soon as LeBron jumped, Wade lost his marbles. He was so sure LeBron was going to make it. It seems he trusts LeBron more now, before he attacked the basket for O rebound before LeBron landed after a jump shot and looked serious.

I def. think wade trusts Lebron but jumping up and cheering a split second before a point blank layup is not a good argument for trusting him lol. He was wide open.

It's funny but it's actually sad. If the Pacers won they could have made it a series. Now it will probably be Heat in 5.

With 2 seconds left nobody was expecting a layup. If Lebron missed everyone would say Vogel made the right call.

With 2 seconds left nobody was expecting a layup. If Lebron missed everyone would say Vogel made the right call.so they were expecting what then? an inbounds and then ANOTHER pass? with 2 seconds, so a dude can what, fling some Shawn Marion looking shit up there? 2.1 seconds, whoever catches it is putting it up. there's absolutely zero justification for Hibbert sitting.

It's even worse because Vogel did the same move in the 4th quarter and LeBron got a clear path to the rim.
Making a mistake once is understandable, but making the same mistake twice is just :facepalm

What I'm saying is. Miami has Battier, Lebron and Allen on the court, three 40% shooters from the 3PT line. And Allen and Lebron are also good from midrange, with 2 seconds a jump shot would be the excepected from the Heat.
And with would've been a jumper if George didn't play horrible defense in that play. He was caught leaning on LEBRON, one of the best if not the best player going to the paint. And not having Hibbert there, George should've fronted him. This is 50% on Vogel, and 50% on George. Props to Lebron for being smart

Not to nitpick, but pretty sure this was Hibbert's reaction after James scored the winning basket...Not to Vogel's benching.

Well why do you think he's shaking his head in disbelief?
Well without getting too technical, it wasn't him shaking his head immediately after being benched, it was disgust at how easy Lebron scored and how he couldve stopped that, and the fact that he traveled the ball...

I think it's combo of that they lost and that it was layup gamewinner when he was benched.

LeBron made a great play, but Miami won this game because of George's poor defense on LeBron and Vogel's coaching. You don't let one of the greatest finishers at the rim of all time get a ****ing layup to win the game. You have to get a jumpshot.

This. Full credit to LeBron for recognizing that PG over committed, but Indy executed that about as poorly as they could have.

If that had happened, Hibbert would have suffered a career-ending knee injury by now.
