U can knee or kick me every time u drive 2the rim. Ill be there 2protect the rim. That wasn't inadvertent. Battier knew what he was doing

Hell its so damn obvious because Battier never even tries to dunk in a game.

Seemed like it was obvious to me...If players normally led with their knees, it would happen a lot more often.
I don't get why that wasn't a flagrant 1. It was definitely reckless. Hibbert is 100% right.
I guarantee in this series they hit Battier and he lies down for 5 minutes until the flagrant is called then bounces up like a soccer player.

It was obvious. I was taught when driving to lead with your knee to create space.

Battier is a scrappy player. When Melo lit up the HEAT a few months ago, the game was pretty much decided and he fouled Melo pretty hard for no apparent reason.
So it doesn't surprise me he would do it on purpose. Although it seems more like him trying to do something to keep from getting his shit stuffed at the rim. Karl Malone scored countless points with that method

of course it was deliberate, he wasn't going for the nuts but he was going for the knee. I used to do this back in the day when the refs weren't calling hard fouls on defenders.

I don't care if Battier did it on purpose. I would have done the same thing. I hate Miami and they're the last team I wish they'd win a ring but I don't have a problem with Battier doing what he did.

Uh, it was completely obvious and intentional. Nobody jumps like that. He was intentionally trying to cause another player to be harmed. Those are usually Flagrants.

1) When Kobe clearly fouls lebrawn in the ALL STAR game, just a hard foul guise! Why u so soft? Das how the game is supposed to be played durrrrr.
2) When Kobe kicks out a foot shooting a jumper...duh anyone whos ever played knows you kick out a leg..the other guy shouldn't have invaded his space and let kobe land on his feet like that! He was clearly trying to hurt kobe. :facepalm

Ive been saying this for a while. Battier gives off the good guy image, but plays the media and sucking up to the refs, but on the court he gets away with so many dirty plays...
Just watch him in a game and you will see what Im talking about. I saw him wrap his arm around tyler's throat in game 1 jostling for a rebound and the refs call a foul on tyler. I saw him grabbing and tripping Noah during the Bulls series too, but no fouls were called. I hate this guy...

He has a role to play and he is playing smart since he can get away with it, while fustrating his opponents...
Good comparison, I liken him to a Bruce Bowen.
Noah can be physical and sometimes annoying with his gestures and shouting, but I rarely see him being dirty.
But yeah, while Battier can basically do what he wants around the basket, the Heat wont have trouble containing the bigs and fustrating them.

that is because Perkins isn't doing as much as battier is doing for the heat. You need vets to be smart which battier is.

I don't think he's dirty. If you think Battier is currently a dirty player, fine, but leave it at that. The only reason I responded is because you said he has a history of doing shit like this. If by history you mean his tenure as a Heat player then that's something I don't agree with nor disagree with because I don't care.

What is with this whining? It's not a dirty play, it's aggressive, he raised it a little too high so offensive foul.
If you really think he drove in and tried to hurt Hibbert you are clueless.
He was simply trying to create space and avoid the block.
Such crybabies.

I don't think Battier is a "fake" nice guy. I think he's genuinely a good dude, but on the court and off the court are completely different worlds. He's not really a dirty player but he does know how to toe that line effectively.

Even more reason to hate the Heat. Ive never passionately hated a team as much as I hate this one. From divas joining up, the dirty fouls they get away with, the ref bias, ray allen joining the enemy, Battier, Lebron flopping and Wade crying about foul calls, Mario chalmers acting like a tough guy, yep, this team gets on my nerves.

Watch a game closely and watch Battier. See how much grabbing and contact he gets away with. You may even see him pull a guy to the floor and get no foul called on him. He is dirty with a capital D.

Funny what success does... Battier wins a title and has another year as the favorite and now he's the dirtiest player in the NBA. A scumbag.
2 years ago he was the best locker room guy in the NBA, a standup gentleman, and an amazing defending. Now he's just... dirty.
So to those guys claiming he was dirty in Houston, how? If you cite grabbing and battling as being dirty, you've never played basketball. Dirty is what Bowen used to do to guys. Stepping underneath them. Laimbeer was dirty, we all can name the type of stuff he used to do. Battier is the dirtiest guy in the NBA? Come on. That's just throwing salt. Battier isn't dirty, he plays like a tough, intelligent basketball player, and that's why he's so valuable even though he doesn't average 2 bpg or 20ppg.
And to the play in question... I don't know what to tell you guys. He didn't swing his knee up in order to rack hib's nuts. He just raised it up and got Hibbert good. The pacers play physical defense and sometimes you look to make more space and things just happen. I can see where hibbert is coming from especially in the heat of the moment and considering he was the one who took the knee but everyone in this thread? Yall are laughable, i'm sorry

Battier is not dirty, wilY,creative, veteran clever yes
Look at Tim Duncan for example, constantly setting picks and screens where he would bump the guy with his back or rear
or ginobli with locking a guys knees up so he cant move or grabbing jersey or
grant hill and jason kidd stepping on a guys foot do they dont jump and using their vetran moves
dirty would be garnett nut punching you in air during a shot or rebound, stepping under you while you shoot, reggie evans grabbing a persons junk to box them out and get the rebound, artest using his elbows to get room and swinging to get the ball
Battier wily,creative,uses veteran moves
but dirty no

The last name "Battier" is dirty as well. Like what the **** is a Battier?
Battier is clumsy and not really the athletic type who goes to the rim, he jumped looking for the layup and obviously ended up jumping awkwardly.
Can't take the heat, get out of the restricted zone...
I'm surprised no one has mentioned that Wade does this often...

I can't say much about Battier because Hansborough is on my team..He's another guy who is probably nice in real life but borderline "dirty", "physical" on the court, just like Battier...But if I had to choose who's dirtier? Of course Shane>>>>>Tyler...Tyler is just clumsy and throws his body around..He's not TRYING to hurt anyone..I can't say the same for Shane....
