View Full Version : Who's better, Roy Hibbert or Dwight Howard?

Who's better and why?
Healthy Howard is the best Center in this league. He's a tool, but he can dominate at a level that puts him in the top 3ish level. Was just that in his Magic days.
And I like guys like Bogut, Bynum, and Hibbert more.

Dwight. Mobility, defense, scoring, everything in between.
As effective as Hibbert is. Imagine Dwight facing that whack ass front court of Miami's.
Let's not jump the gun now.

Not that just. As hard it is to believe, the Pacers defense would actually get better with Dwight.

Dog, it would be the filthiest defense in the league by far.

hibbert actualy relies on skills and he blocks shots to save them inbound unlike dwight who blocks them out of bounds.

Who's better and why?
Part of being better is being a good teammate.
And Howard hasn't shown that he is.
So Hibbert is better.

It's closer than you think. Howard got no skills in the low post, he turns the ball too much, and can't hit a free throw, Hibbert is slow but got skills in the low post, he doesn't turn the ball too much and can hit free throws. So Dwight is not really better on offense, they are about equal. On defense is close but I would take Dwight, Dwight is quicker and he can play better defense on the perimeter, while Hibbert is only a rim protector. Dwight is also a better rebounder.

Yup. That's where the real difference is -- mobility.

As of right now, Hibbert is playing better. Dwight has accomplished a little more, so you have to give him the benefit of the doubt. Let's see how good he is (or is not) next season when the injuries heal.
right now hibbert.
next year when dwight gets healthy, d12.

It's also about being on a team who's role you fit in and a competent coach who knows how to use you. This is a bad example

Swatting out of bounds comes from being a great help defender. When you're flying in from a weak side it is very difficult to keep the ball in play. Hibbert is primarily a straight up shot blocker or net defender. I wouldn't use this as an example of being a better player.

They are all better than Howard who has the IQ of a pet rock. They are all younger too. Plus, Howard's baggage is horrendous!

He's in a place where he doesn't want to play, he was a beast in orlando on both ends of the floor. If he somehow gets to a team who he wants to play for I still think he can be close to his 2009 self.

He doesn't want to play because he's an overgrown sissy.
He has the mental age of a 10 year old. He had no idea how well he had it in Orlando. he was the man. he got whatever he wanted. Coaches fired, no problem! A new stadium, you got it!
As soon as he leaves for an established team, in a major market, with Hall of Fame players, Dwight Howard gets exposed for the sap that he is. He's a weenie.

This is why Hibbert is better. You come to play regardless of your situation.

A little more? You mean like being a consensus DPOY, 3 seasons in a row. Leading a franchise to a Finals appearance. Multiple All Star appearances. Putting up insane 20/20 games.
Dwight, and it really ain't close. On their best days, you wouldn't even be asking this question.

Right now, I would say Roy Hibbert. He has more to his offensive game than Dwight does. The nice hook shot, passing out of double teams, and defense.

Old Dwight would make Hibbert look stupid. But that Dwight is never coming back.
But at least Hibbert has actual touch.
Hibbert is so skilled he shoots 45%
Thread is an insult to dwight who was a top 3 player not long ago

 Dwight howard looked like a chump against an old Sheed, old Shaq, old KG, Kendrick Perkins, Bynum, and Pau.
I'm taking Hibbert for my team. He wants to be a part of the team, he listens, and he wants to get better. Indy just needs to get a better big man coach to develop him more (cough Ewing cough).

anyone who watched laker games this year knows Hibbert is 10x more dominant on BOTH SIDES of the ball..
dwight is not the same person he was on the magic and until he proves otherwise its hard arguing he's even a top 5 center (hibbert ,duncan, gasol easily better.. bynum/bogut have arguments)

I can name atleast 5 centers i'd take over hibbert, probably 10.

in a perfect world ... DMC would kick both of their arse.
but i would still pick howard... howard has led the league in rebounds and scored 20 ppg. hibbert needs to show consistency but he is not that far for being the best center in nba since howard is kinda down right now.

Hibbert is just the flavor of the month.
The fact that Hibbert isn't dominating the league with his size and skill set tells you all you need to know about him. I'd take Dwight Howard. Everyone but Lakers fans can see the truth.

Dwight howard...easily. Everyone is so biased and tainted with hate in regards to him now though, so of course some of you clowns are actually picking Hibbert. All this Hibbert actually has skills...lmfao...he misses some of the easiest shots I've ever seen in the post. He didn't even shoot 45% for the season as a 7'2" center.

Oh please, Howard post all-star break is miles ahead of what Hibbert is now. And he still wasn't even 100%. Fact is, if no one got injured, Lakers would give the Spurs a run for their money. Replace him Hibbert, or any of those 'true' centers I posted earlier, they most certainly aren't.
He is that good when he is healthy. And he is getting healthier by the day.

Was #28 in PPG, #1 in RPG, #2 in FG%, #5 in BPG, and all this on a bad back, terrible team situation, and playing less minutes then he usually does.

He's as much to blame for the terrible team as anyone.

So let me get this straight...Dwight "skills of a telephone pole" Howard can average more points on better efficiency while being like 5 inches shorter than Hibbert but Hibbert is called the better player? Oh ISH....so god damn dumb

The case is fish memory.
Curry is a top 5 player, Paul George > Melo + Tmac, Hibbert > Dwight, LeBron is as good as Jordan and clutch, LeBron is a choker who protects stats (literally 1 night apart).
We're comparing a 20/13/2 on 58/50 guy vs. a 12/8/3 on 45/74 guy. The former had an off/injured year and the latter had...a good game?

Dwight getting so underrated it's ridiculous
He had a disappointing season if you held up to the standard of a superstar and a top 5 player in the league. But he was still at worst a top 3 centre in the league.

Yeah, just a little. Nothing much. Upsetting LeBron's Cavs en route to the Finals, 3 straight DPOY awards, an MVP-worthy season in 2011, just the usual
85% D-12 (post-ASG basically) is still better than whatever Hibbert has been up to this point. 100% D12 is literally leagues apart.

This forum always overreacts on the smallest thing. I still remember the first half of Boston/Miami back in 2010 when the big 3 were having their first game together. The first freaking half and everyone was writing them off - after 24 minutes of basketball...
After that you learn to just ignore 98% of the stuff you read on here. I don't even open Miami game threads anymore.
