View Full Version : Paul George is exposing Lebron vastly overrated defense

Mr. guard all 5 positions is being exposed for what he really is, a "roamer" that plays passing lanes and try to get chse down blocks his on ball defense is not very good and never has been.

We have all known this. It's no surprise here. People like to praise him but he can't cover all 5 positions.

so why is everyone calling PG a great defender when lebron scored 30 or more points in both games?
This is hilarious, everyone has some lapses in defense but according to you paul george is just a shitty player who scored only because lebron let him.
If there are any pacers fans on this site, they should be offended.

This is clear trolling, LeBron is above average at worst as a defender. Given that you claim to be a Celtics fan, I'd have thought you'd notice the way he locks down Pierce.

Old slow ass pierce honestly is a great matchup for Bron. Pierce tries to use his body and footwork to beat you but he's smaller and weaker than him. George has some speed.

Umm kinda...he doesn't lock him. Heats team defense overall locks him. LBJ in front of him makes Pierce question his decisions + he is not young anymore(speed).

LBJ is a great help defender. Never been a master of lockdown defense we all know that. As for the "cover all 5" positions that's a myth. He's still a great defender but that is that - he ain't DPOY caliber by any stretch - never period.

and that is because lebron is the best help defender in the league. What is so hard to understand? he can follow any type of player on the court. those 24 sec violations when he was defending George didn't happen because George forgot how to read numbers.
after he fouled out against boston in last year's playoffs, he stopped trying to reach in to defend. I think heat coaching staff told him to try to defend as much as he can without fouling. The fact that he is one of the best defenders in the league without trying to foul is a great achievement.
Just imagine if he played in the era of hand-checking and better pace of the game.

agreed. Wade doesn't give Paul George space and crowds him. LeBron plays off of him and allows him to use his quickness. Bron looked flat footed and slow on multiple occasions last night, it was embarrassing

Wade's defense was brilliant :applause:

You are right. Lebron has only defended George late in the 3rd when Wade is in the bench.

It's hillarious that everybody is arguing and don't even noticed that Miami's defensive matchups are James-Stephenson and Wade-George.

Even as you say probably Lebron (when Miami goes small) has defended more time West than George.

And Lebron did a good job on west who was pretty much owning Harlem or Chris Anderson and whoever else Miami threw at him. So no, lebrons versatility on d is not overrated. D west is a pretty good offensive big man

Couldn't guard Jeff Green either. How much did Green score 43? on 67% overall. Lebron has trouble with long athletic forwards with ball handles that can shoot the 3, mid ranger and can finish strong. I remember James switching battier on screens to end up off of Green.

Pretty much the closest type of player to himself is what he has trouble with. Even though the next closest players aren't on his level.

True, he never saw the best of McGrady, either. T-Mac's last pretty good year was 2005, and that was LeBron's second season. He quickly deteriorated after that due to his back issues. If he struggles with the Jeff Greens, Paul Georges of the world ... I wonder how he'd fair trying to guard Hill or T-Mac.

even his help defense is overrated...he dont even average a damn block....i mean who can't help out on someones man to trap them?...it's mostly about rotations..Coach SPO has had miami playing that style of D before lebron came there...You can count the meaningful defensive plays he makes a game...and it's not very many... I mean i watch his defense as closely as i can to find this "greatness" people talk about and i'm like "..uhhhh"..."i'm waiting"...he's just really good at roaming, but he plays way to flat footed in isolation and is not good with on ball stealing and shotblocking...

This is true. He has lost so much of his first step as he's bulked up that he's not that difficult to be beaten off the dribble anymore. The problem is that not many people attack him anymore because of his reputation as a defender, but George is doing brilliantly and is part of the reason they split the first two games.

And yes, for me:

And I wouldn't even be necessarily wrong. haha ...

But seriously, let's be honest. You're probably very young and just started watching the game around 2011 during Rose's MVP season.

Because even a Bulls fan would acknowledge that Pippen should be ranked higher on a GOAT list than Rose. That '94 Knicks team >>> 2011 Pacers, 2011 Hawks ... and maybe even better than the 2011 Heat.

You're not a Bulls fan, you're desperately trying for people to take you seriously on here.

And yes, for me:

1) MJ - '91
2) MJ - '92
3) MJ - '93

And I wouldn't even be necessarily wrong. haha ...

But seriously, let's be honest. You're probably very young and just started watching the game around 2011 during Rose's MVP season.

Because even a Bulls fan would acknowledge that Pippen should be ranked higher on a GOAT list than Rose. That '94 Knicks team >>> 2011 Pacers, 2011 Hawks ... and maybe even better than the 2011 Heat.

You're not a Bulls fan, you're desperately trying for people to take you seriously on here.

For Swoosh's serious top three, based exclusively off who I've SEEN in context:

MJ
Hakeem
Shaq

with LeBron quickly gaining steam on Shaq.

For Swoosh's serious top three, taking into account un-witnessed history:

MJ
Wilt
Bird

****, you're actually a good and reasoned poster when you're not trolling. I didn't know that. :wtf:

Woah, he listed possibly one of the most common top 3 lists of all time, give or take a certain player.

Genius level stuff right there. :oldlol:

Anyone could put up a top 3 GOAT list with any one of MJ, Kareem, Shaq, Wilt, Bird, Magic, Hakeem, Russell, and they'd all have an argument. Groundbreaking...........:facepalm

I hope LeBron takes on George from start today and shows him his place. George is due for a stinker anyway.
:lol Word. This is the same Paul George who is shooting 41% for the playoffs and 29% from the 3 in the playoffs. He's just on a fluke stretch right now.

Says Numbersixx's or SamuraiSwish's ALT account. :oldlol:

Even Bulls posters can see through your fake ass. Samurai doesn't count as a Bull poster. He's an MJ stan poster.
