Wasn't he an owner of the Sprewell Rim company that was responsible for the spinning wheels fad?

Just read his Wikipedia page he's had two homes foreclosed on grounded a million dollar yacht and is prohibited from seeing his kids... He turn down a 21 million dollar 3 year extension in 2005 he's now in debt

I guess he was rocking the middle east thing
where you have 20 plus kids with different women,

He turned Down 3 years,21 million

How many freaking mouths did he have to feed

Unless Ferrari,Rolls Royce,mansions,groupies
are considered things that need to be fed.

If only he was playing now 15-18 pts as a stretch 4 on 40% shooting, man
he would make JR Smiths contract offers where people are saying 8-10 mill look good in comparison.

Hibbert got MAX avg 14,9 on 45%
Asik got 15 mill avg 10,12
Chandler got 18 mill avg 12,10

Any decent, not good or great decent 8,8 40% fg
big is getting paid craploads

The Mavs offered Udonis Haslem 3 years 25 million
for avg 10,8
They gave Dampier 20 mill for 10,10

Nash got 27 mil for 3 years from the lakers avg
12,10

It seems like any player nowadays who can get you 10,8 is getting
8-15 million a year, its like a salary cap or common sense still isnt being taught.

He was a shooting guard not a stretch forward.

turned down a 21 million dollar contract because he had "kids to feed", and this in the last serviceable years of his career.

No team in their right mind would have paid him more than that so he just never got a deal and that was that.

His kids are starving but he got two mansions and a yacht...I don't like to judge but he was a Grade A idiot.

He's a stay at home dad now. He cares about his kids.

OP or anybody, have you ever seen the the article that quotes LS saying this?

Or is it hearsay from management of the Wolves?

Before Sprewell and Cassell came to Minn. to help KG.....Wolves weren't shit.....since they didn't sign Spree, they reverted back to not being shit.

Dwell on it.

Don't know. When he say that though? I thought he was making good money with the rim thing.

Apparently, 21 million dollars over 3 years is not enough for some people. :facepalm

It's a real quote after he turned down the 3 year, $21 million extension. Just google it.

And the Timberwolves didn't make the playoffs in the 04-05 season, which was Sprewell's final season there anyways. That roster with Cassell, Spree, and KG only had a limited window for a championship.

His most-maligned comment, "I've got a family to feed," became instant fodder for talk-radio and water-cooler rants.

used to be one of my favorite players until I saw Youtube videos where he acts and talks ghetto.

Sprewell currently rents a modest home in Milwaukee, occasionally pissing off his neighbors with loud music, and getting arrested. And, if you thought this is where the nightmare ends, he reportedly owes Wisconsin $3,000,000 in back taxes. SMH. This can't be life.

spree was a fun player to watch, especially on the Wolves.

but him declining that money at his stage of his career, is one of the dumbest moves in sports history

He defaulted on a ton of property and stuff in 2007 nad 2008. Federal marshals repossessed his yacht he still owned $1.3 million on. He lost his mansion-or-house because he wasn't making the $2500 mortgage payments.

And he got arrested for disorderly conduct New Years 2013.

Simplest way to put it is he was a man that was stupid with his money.

The more money you make (or get), the more money you usually spend.

This seems to be too common of an issue with NBA players.

Spree was a pretty darn good player at his peak though. Would probably be a 22 ppg guy today.

Let's be real, he was playing hardball and it backfired, then he got blackballed for his unprofessionalism. This doesn't deserve a thread.
