LeBron, when asked by Ahmad Rashad if Kobe is his biggest rival: "I would say Boston and Paul Pierce if I had to name just one guy"
Thoughts? I guess it makes sense given that Kobe and LeBron have never met in the playoffs, but LeBron vs Kobe is the bigger story.

I don't think Lebron wants to go there and get in a battle of words with Kobe. He is just reiterating what Kobe said except Bron said Pierce.
When Kobe was asked who his rivals were, he said nobody, because he outlasted all of them.

They meet almost every year in the playoffs and a lot of times in the regular season. Seems about right.
Facing Kobe 2 times a year doesn't count as a rivalry

Pierce has actually beat Lebron. Lebron has regularly owned the Lakers forever now.

Well Lebron and Pierce have played 25 times in the playoffs,
Lebron (13-12)
Pierce (12-13)
and 30 times in the reg season where they are tied at 15 a piece.
Lebron (15-15)
Peirce (15-15)
So they are extremely equal in terms of results, not in terms of average's Lebron has been much better, but in terms of head to head you can defnilty say they are probably each others biggest rivals.
Kobe on the other hand.
Kobe and Lebron have played 19 times in the reg season
Lebron (13-6)
Kobe (6-13)
and they have never met in the playoffs. So in terms of head to head rivalry, Lebron has been far more successful against Kobe than he has been Pierce.

Plus, LeBron and Pierce legit don't care for each other. They got into a scuffle after a preseason game in 04. Im not sure what their relationship is like now, but they have battled for awhile now.

LeBron has been knocked off by Boston in the playoffs before, including that game 7 duel with Paul Pierce. His record against Pierce and the celtics is close to even. LeBron probably has won 3 or 4 more and they've played each other more than 50 times.
LeBron plays Kobe far less. They obviously haven't met in the playoffs and LeBron has won something in the vicinity of 12 of his last 15 against Kobe.

For what it's worth, 95% of the "Kobe vs Lebron" rivalry is media created. There's really no basis for them to have a heated rivalry. The media sold it ever since Lebron came into the league, so the leauge could profit and build off the storyline, and it's resulted in Lebron and Kobe stans at constant war :oldlol:

Lebron and Pierce play the same position and they both play in the East. They were both All-Stars for the East at the same position. They had some hard fought playoff battles ever since Lebron came into the league. So, I would agree with Lebron on this one.

Not surprised, actually. They've had many battles for years, both play the same position, and game 7 2008 ECSF is a hardwood classic. I also remember that one game in 2006 that went in OT where Pierce scored 50 vs James 40 point triple double.
There was an ABC segment in 2009 on the Top 5 players James liked to go up against and Pierce was one of them. The other 4 were:
Kobe Bryant
Dwyane Wade (oh the irony)
Carmelo Anthony
Chris Paul (James said during the interview: "We may not play close to the same position, but he competes hard like I do and hates to lose like I do)
Would need to find that link for the exact Paul quote, still.

Yeah most of those Wins Lebron has vs the Lakers are when the Lakers were running Smush Parker at point and Luke Walton at SF. Kobe has only arguably had a better team than Lebron in 2009 and 2010 and even those years the teams were even matched. Lebron just choked in the playoffs. They were supposed to meet in the finals.

Makes sense. Out of the top perimeter players this era, Pierce is the only one he's had meaningful confrontations with when it mattered: the playoffs. Lebron has never played Kobe, Wade, Tmac, Vince, etc in anything but 'meaningless' regular season games( well he's played Melo but never lost to him in the playoffs). Whereas Pierce and Lebron have eliminated each other in high stakes playoff matchups ( ECFs) and matched up head to head.

This is a no brainer.
-They play the same position.
-They've had very competitive games and playoff series.
-Lebron has gotten the best of pierce individually and as a team. And vice versa.
-They've had a scuffle in the locker room.
-Pierce has spit at the Cavs bench.
-Lebron's moms was about to slap Pierce after he fouled Lebron and Lebron had to tell her to "sit her ass down". :lol
There is no doubt that during Lebron's career Pierce and the Celtics have been Lebron's biggest NBA rival.
