"The block"? :lol no. It was a meaningless block (in the grand scheme of things) over Tiago Splitter in what was already a blowout. Dont get me wrong though it was a hell of a play by LBJ...

And its certainly more impressive than Hibbert/Melo, that one was ridiculously overrated. Big whoop that a 7 ft 3 guy blocked a 6'8 forward who isn't a leaper by any measure of the imagination...

Despite the fact that Shaq is the strongest player to ever play the game and used two hands for safety, Big Ben still got the best of him.

Anyway, let us be real here. It was a cool block, but it was garbage time and had zero impact on the game at that point. Hibbert's was so much more impressive.

Last minute of a Finals game even if your team is up 30 > meaningless, fun, non-try hard all-star game. Besides, blocking a 7 footer at the submit of when he was about to throw it down > blocking a jumpshot from behind.

The Lebron block was probably the best one I have ever seen live.

That being said, how has no one mentioned how Lebron just strutted around, while the ball was in play, after the block? I don't care if your team is up 20 points or 200 points. Get back on offense!

While in principal I agree with you, I don't think that high-school coach type philosophy applies here. Lebron is spontaneous on the court, in a good way. He rarely (these days) shows this type of emotion at the wrong moments.

He knew exactly what he was doing and they were up by double-digits. If it made him feel good and made the crowd buzz harder, I say good for him. Besides, it's his league right now.

Also, he lasered a pass over to Ray for an open three on the ensuing possession.

Agree with both paragraphs one and two, but that doesn't "make it ok" in my mind. Crowd should be "buzzing" anyway after that ridiculous block. I want Heat to lose and I was cheering, lol.

And I disagree with using paragraph 3 as an argument. Totally different/separate play.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QJ4iwqnLKcHa, yes, all very fond moments for me (also, Maxiell's block on Tyson Chandler's alley attempt).

That said, I do have to believe who's being blocked and when they're being blocked can often inflate the supposed importance of the play itself. For instance, Ben Wallace has had cooler blocks before, yet his Shaq block sticks out because it was Shaq. James' block was great, but I do not see it going down as ...And then, while desperately clinging to a late 17 point advantage, James vanquished the great Tiago Splitter.

Same here. I didn't see it live so maybe that affects my feelings. It was a great block, but I can't tell where people's true feelings end and the hyperbole begins. Considering the score, it didn't seem particularly game changing and considering Tiago's history of never dunking on anyone, it wasn't a life changing block to witness for me
Yeah, it was one of those if you were watching it live you thought "damn, that was pretty sick" but I wasn't losing my shit or didn't feel like I watched something special, mainly because the Heat were already up 20. The people that are saying things like it might've been a series changing play, best block ever, etc. are going to the extreme. It was a really, really nice block, but given the score, circumstances, and the fact that Splitter damn near dunks the ball (is kind of known for being a little soft on the offensive end in terms of how he attacks and scores) it wasn't mind-blowingly awesome.

no one wants to talk about lebron's other block on Duncan earlier in the game which was just as important as this one

You're just as bad as the Kobe stans. Of course I think you were the loudest spokesman of the "Every game the Pacers won in the ECF was rigged" crew, so I'm not surprised.

Last minute of a Finals game even if your team is up 30 > meaningless, fun, non-try hard all-star game. Besides, blocking a 7 footer at the submit of when he was about to throw it down > blocking a jumpshot from behind.

What's so amazing about Lebron blocking a slow whiteboy?

Splitter is apparently a good big man. He's 6'11 and gets 6.4 reb per game on 24 minutes per game.

Lebron is a SF. A few plays earlier he was guarding Tony Parker and doing a good job.

And the block was not just a block. It was a face to face dunk attempt where the dunker and the defender met each other head on. Splitter had all the time he wanted to wind up for that dunk and come with power... and he did indeed come with a lot of power. The defender met him at the apex of his dunk and knocked that shit outta there. How often do you see that? And it was also 100% clean. Lebron got all ball.

That is at the least slightly amazing. :oldlol:

This one had absolutely zero importance. It was when the game was done. It was awesome and made me giggle uncontrolably and i'm not even rooting for the Heat but it had zero importance.

Tayshaun Prince's seemingly out of nowhere chase down block on Reggie Miller's run out game tying easy layup is the best block I can remember.

Lebron's block was pretty amazing though. Then he dished for a 3. Then he got a run out massive dunk. They were up 20 at that point though but if I were a Heat fan (I'm not I freaking hate them) that would have been about as fun as basketball can get.

If LeBron had like 20+ points, 7+ rebounds, 7+ assist before the block, he wouldn't have been the floor. With the 19-point lead, and LeBron's pedestrian stat before the block he was basically kept in there to statpad.

Prince blocking reggie was not in the NBA Finals

LBJ is amazing truly. No fear of possibly getting posterized.... he did everything for the heat last night. Reminds me of Jordan.

Jordan used to say he would become "the garbageman" sometimes, when the opposing team (like the spurs are doing to LBJ) are doing everything they can to stop MJ/LBJ, they want the role players to beat them. So MJ would go out there and do everything he could to help his team and role players shine. Grab rebounds, play defense, block shots, steal the ball, etc..... no chucking shots and forcing offense. MJ would take whatever the offense gave him and play 100% effort team basketball.

Thats exactly what LBJ did. 3 blocks, 3 steals, double digit rebounds.

Yeah the heat up were 17 or 19 pts, SO THAT MEANS HE COULD HAVE EASILY JUST LET IT GO and give Splitter the dunk. That just shows how much passion and fire LBJ has, HE SAYS **** NO, I DONT CARE IF IM UP 50, YOU ARENT GETTING ANY MOTIVATING DUNK IN MY HOUSE. GET THAT SHIT OUTTA HERE!

AND A SIGNATURE BLOCK THAT DEMORALIZED THE SPURS. I won't be shocked if Splitter will never try to aggressively dunk on the Heat again.

You must have to actually have lebron's d1ck AND at least one of his balls in your mouth to argue this is a greater block than Tayshaun's.

Lebron's block was amazing, but that argument is just shameful :facepalm

As the 2 posters above me said, what's crazy is that lethick probably has the 3 best finals blocks of all time all to himself.

1- Iggy in 2016
2- splitter in 2013
3- Duncan in 2013 or Curry in 2016
