Tim Duncan 2013 NBA finals

Game 1
20 pts (8/19fg) 14 rebounds 4 assists 3 blocks 1 steal

Game 2
9 pts (3/13fg) 11 rebounds 1 assist

Game 3
12 pts (5/11fg) 14 rebounds 2 blocks 1 assist

Game 4
20 pts (6/10fg) 5 rebounds 1 block 1 assist

Game 5
17pts (7/10fg) 12 rebounds 3 blocks 1 assist

Lets be serious Game 2 wasn't that good even though he did rebound very well. Other than that he has been very good this series in all 4 games :facepalm

On paper, LeBron's stats look pretty decent.

This title doesn't elevate Duncan anywhere, he's been at best the 3rd best player. Which also isn't set in stone because you can make a legitimate case for Leonard and Neal overtaking Duncan for THAT spot.

Duncan was a role player in 2010-2011 and 2011-2012. Kobe made 1st team All NBA those seasons. Kobe has been consistently elite while Duncan got fat and declined. Props to Duncan for finally losing weight but he should have been more proactive like Kobe to maintain longevity. Kobe has been the most consistent during his generation thus is the player of his generation. Kobe's first two years he played sparingly but the last 15 seasons he has shown great consistency. Kobe's 15 seasons are more consistent than Duncan's 15 seasons.

Stopping penetration starts on the perimeter. It doesn't matter if Dwight Howard in the paint, if perimeter defenders get blown past off the dribble.

Duncan's not doing anything that Asik or Tyson Chandler couldn't do. especially when you consider that he's not even guarding a Big on the Heat that cares to post up or play in the pain on offense.

It's about the concept of TEAM defense.

None of the Spurs can match up on the outside with the Heat in terms of foot speed/athleticism... But when you have a good coach, he can come up with a way to keep the opposing offensive in front of you.

The only guy of Duncan's generation who is in the argument is Shaq.

Another title wouldn't really make a difference. We all know Duncan has that fundamental game and a very consistent career, while Shaq was much less consistent but more dominant at his peak.

Kobe or Garnett are not in this argument, they are ways behind.

So many dumb social degenerates in this thread. Kobe fans crying line he's talking about their moms. Calm the **** down. It's this guys opinion, doesn't make him or you right or wrong. But people really need to stop downplaying tims impact on this series. Saying duncan is the third or fourth most important person in the series. Tony parker is by far the most impactful player on the spurs on offense. He creates space for shooters, breaks down the defense and makes the clutch shots. Green is making all those 3s and is arguably the second most impactful person on O, by Duncan is averaging almost 16 a game on limited minutes. And while Leonard had been great on lebron, Duncan is the most important defender, not only because of his defense on bosh, but also his help defense and protecting the rim. He is the anchor if the spurs d. And ****ing lol at that moron saying lebron scores on Duncan everyone he's guarding him on a switch. You can't be that dumb you ****ing moron. You know literally nothing about bball beside kobe, you ****ing fake fan.

Anyways if you think Duncan is the best player since mj, or kobe or even shaq you're not wrong because that's you're opinion, just stop downplaying or outright lying about a players impact.

Duncan has been known to get his ass dominated by Refs. See those Lakers series that he lost and also the 2004 Olympics.
