It's actually really intresting, cause the narrative going into the 07 finals was that the Spurs were getting older and that in a couple years, younger teams would overlap them. Yet 7 years later most of those teams like the Jazz, Hornets and Cavs have dissolved and the Spurs won ..again

Ya, I also remember the talk how the Spurs championship window was closing in 2007 and I was one of those people agreeing. Believe it or not San Antonio was the oldest team in the league in 2007, they were even older the next year.

Not only RJ, but Bonner and Blair. Remember Pop had Splitter on the bench until game 4 vs MEM while the Twin Turds got abused by Zach and Gasol.

I have to admit that I thought the days of championships were over after they traded Scola, Duncan declined and SA got booted by the 8th seed in the 1st round. This 5th one is like a dream to me - still can't believe it.

They general consensus is that the lockout season was shortened, but the schedule was harsh on the older teams the most because of the consecutive games they would have to play. Younger teams could deal with is easier.

In the end, there's no asterisk to me.

I think lockouts affect the development of younger players a lot, because they're not allowed to workout with the coaches for most of the offseason

Usally when you make a statement like that, you should post the numbers you're referring to.

Here's the career RAPM numbers('97 to '14) for players in post-Jordan era that have played more than 70,000 possessions:

+5.63 - Lebron
+5.09 - Duncan
+5.08 - Shaq
+4.75 - Garnett
+4.22 - Dirk
+3.36 - Rasheed
+2.96 - Kobe
+2.77 - Nash
+2.65 - Carter
+2.58 - Kidd
+2.37 - Pierce
+2.15 - Parker
+2.07 - Ben Wallace
+1.76 - Pau Gasol
+1.76 - Ray Allen
+1.15 - Joe Johnson
+1.04 - Marion
+0.95 - Billups
+0.94 - Iverson

Makes sense that Lebron/Duncan/Shaq are at the top of the list. From 1999 to 2007, a Duncan/Shaq led team won the title 7 times in 9 years. Lebron has been dominating the NBA awards the past couple years. Four straight Finals and two back-to-back titles.

Shaq won MVP and Finals MVP in the same year in 2000
Duncan won MVP and Finals MVP in the same year in 2003
Lebron won MVP and Finals MVP in the same year in 2012 and 2013.
Kobe has never done this.

The early 2000s was the Shaq/Duncan era. It's currently the Lebron era. There never was a Kobe Bryant era.

What, Duncan winning 3 Finals MVPs and 2 MVPs in a six year span isn't dominant enough to be mentioned next to Kobe or KG?

Shaq was mostly out early in the seasons. When the roleplayers were out of shape or just played like crap (2002-03).

Kobe was mostly out at the end of seasons (2000-01), when everyone were sharp and ready for the PO.
