When did this guy become an absolute lard ass? I lost track of his career after that one overachieving season in 2006 or 2007 on the Suns when Amare Stoudemire was injured. He was decent, skilled passer, nothing spectacular but a really good role player. Anyway, he was in shape then ... I didn't even recognize him in this series that's how fat he's become. When did he balloon up, and how has he not lost the weight?

How does anyone become a lard ass? Obviously, eating too many calories and not burning them.

He bulked up so he could match up better against Lebron.

Not burning calories? He plays PROFESSIONAL basketball for a living.

He obviously gained that weight in the summer when he sat in his ass like a lot of basketball players do.

Nobody who plays regular minutes gains weight during the season unless they are injured.

I find this thread odd, since it would seem like he has lost a considerable amount of weight in the last couple years.

And really, how much different is he from Melo in terms of body?

Since he played for the Bobcats.

He's thinner than he was on the Bobcats, and he's really not that fat. He's overweight for a pro ball player, but he's not Eddy Curry or anything.

Thank you. People still harping about Diaw being huge makes me question whether they are watching the games at all. The guy is clearly more fit than he was last year.

Marshmallow Anthony tho...

I just assumed he had gained weight to suit his new role. He used to play guard in Atlanta. Fancied himself a point guard for a time. Now he plays the 5, 4, or 3.

I think Diaw is one of the most underrated, under-utilized players in basketball. I think I could design a 50-win team around him with only one all-star. He's soft as hell and can't finish, but he plays good D and always makes the right pass. How many guys can you say that about? He'd be a whiz in a high post offense. Average ten assists a game. Pop's got such a good thing going with Parker-ball, but I think it could work even better if they worked a Parker-Diaw 2-man game and it were Diaw hitting Parker off the screens rather than the other guard.

he was cultivating mass and now he is harvesting it.

he's been gaining gradually over the years.

Even in his great season of winning MIP, he was gaining then too.

Then Amar'e came back from his knee injury and where did Diaw fit? he got relegated to the bench, got depressed, and gained weight. And plus his guaranteed contract added to the laziness.
