View Full Version : Live By The 3, Die By The 3 - Miami in 7

Foster5k
06-17-2013, 08:17 PM
We all know the age old story. 3s will not win you championships. Sooner or later Danny Green is going to come back down to Earth and stop draining 3s. Once this happens, Miami is going to win both games at home.

Tony Parker's hamstring can tear any moment.

Duncan will experience more fatigue as series drags on.

Manu will disappear, again.

And of course, the Heat will play better as they always do after a loss.

So it comes down to game 7. Game 7 favors Miami. Heat in 7.

He's shooting somewhere near 70 percent over 5 games. I'd tend to agree but it's 5 games deep and Miami keeps giving him open looks which gets the confidence rolling each time.

Since when has Danny Green died by the three?

Kaspah
06-17-2013, 08:26 PM
That line doesn't really apply to this situation.

It makes sense when your shot is being contested, that you'd be living or dying by the 3. However, the heat are not contesting Danny green's 3pointers.

So it's more like, live by the 3, as long as Miami keeps being retarded.

The spurs are openly saying this stuff, they want Miami to overcompensate on Danny green because they know once Miami recognizes green as a threat, it'll open up their go to scorers even more. Green hitting these 3s has been nothing but a bonus. They don't rely on him scoring.

no pun intended

Miami shot better from 3 last game.
Miami had less turnovers last game.
Miami had better bench production last game.
Miami had more assists last game.
Miami had more second chance points last night.

They lost.

Ok so you think it's ok for the heat to "live or die by the spurs 3 ball"?

How has that gone so far? Pretty fail for the heat

And eventually "Green will come back to earth"

You think this is ok.. When heat CAN NOT afford to risk anything now.. lose 1 more game and its done.

Lets see what happens.. I can tell you one thing.. no way heat take a risk with green now.

Or, they could have been like damn this nikka is making a lot of 3s and put in an effort to d him up better. Before their backs are against the wall. Now when they try to stop green, everyone else is going to be open and then the heat will be facing a new problem. They're a step behind.

He's wide open. Bad defense.

Yeah without trolling the Heat there seems to be a change of philosophy. It makes sense. It helps floor spacing and you can turn medicore dribblers into threats. Gren can hit 40% open 3s. You think he could hit 50% of twos in the crowded lane. :oldlol:

rmt
06-18-2013, 07:45 AM
Spurs don't usually live and die by the 3. Their offense is much more multi-faceted than that. Parker (and sometimes Manu) penetrates. Neal, Leonard, Parker, can all hit mid-range shots. If all else fails, they can always throw it in to Timmy in the post. Of course, the 3 shot makes it easier to run up big leads.

Green is a streaky shooter. As great as he's been in this series, he was just as bad in OKC last year - couldn't hit the side of a barn. So, yeah, he can continue shooting at this rate for 1-2 more games. Personally, I think Neal is much more dangerous on offense - if run off the 3 pt line, he can pull up for a mid-range or drive to the basket for a floater/bank shot.

OP must be forgetting the last game of the Finals last year when MIA was raining 3s. Spurs only need to win 1 game - so however they put up points on the board is fine with me as long as it's 1 more than MIA at the end of the game.

The guy is hitting 30 footers like they are layups.. No defense for that.. The Heat just have to help so much cuz they have no interior defense that they are always scrambling.. They just have to hope Green and Neal get cold...

Heat in 9. Spurs might win one more game but in the long run Miami is the better team.

Random_Guy
06-18-2013, 08:45 AM
I agree with the "live by the three die by the three", if this was the start of the series and Green shot 70 percent during the last series. Problem is, he's doing it NOW and his confidence is probably through the roof. He just needs to get hot for one more game and it's all over for the heat. Not to mention that the Spurs also have another sharp shooter in Gary Neal. The fact that the Spurs are a team capable of matching the Heat even without getting stupid hot from 3 doesnt help them either.

Exactly. It only makes sense when that's all you have. Spurs "live" by their inside scoring w/ Duncan, Parker and Gino. The 3 just opens up the inside. As long as Miami give them the 3, they will take it. But, once they start trying to defend the perimeter, the ball goes inside.

As Pop always say, "It's just basic basketball".
