Anyone can win in these are bracket. Its so deep no high favorites but I would choose 05 Spurs to go all the way here.

Dark Horse 06 Clippers.

Yeah this region is tough to predict. Lakers have another #1 seed and were pretty loaded in 2009. But 2005 Spurs maybe the best Spurs team in the Duncan era even though they are not a #1 seed (2003 Spurs are). I'm gonna say its gonna come down between those 2. This is also the only region with 3 Western Conference champs and 5 overall finalists.

16 2003 New Orlean Hornets

Preview: The 2009 finished 65-17 and were as good as they got. They were probably the best Kobe Bryant led team. Kobe Bryant had an exceptional year still in his prime at age 30, he also played with a very talented roster. They had another All-Star in Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum, Trevor Ariza, and Lamar Odom. A very scary frontcourt with Kobe Bryant on the perimeter, this Laker team went on and won the NBA Championship.

The New Orlean Hornets finished 47-35 in 2003. It was their 1st year in New Orleans moving from Charlotte. They had their own Big 3 here with Mashburn-Baron-Wesley. PJ Brown and Magloire made a good big man duo giving them a complete overall team. They lost to the 76ers in the 1st round.

Both frontcourts are good in this matchup, but the key for the Hornets is do they have anyone that can stop Kobe Bryant? If they want to somehow pull off an upset, that will be the key. Otherwise the Lakers just look too good for the Hornets and this could be over quick.

How does Bynum being injured most of the season and playoffs impact him here?

We may have to limit some of his minutes but he will play healthy in this tournament.

Game 1: at Lakers 108, Hornets 98

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8048204&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: P.Gasol 21points/11reb on 8/13 FG

Recap: In a pretty good game the Lakers were victoriuos at the end. Kobe struggled shooting from the field going 9/25 as the Hornets game plan was to double-team him as much as possible. But that did not stop the Lakers from winning. They had 6 players in double-figures.

Game 2: at Lakers 100, Hornets 83

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8048225&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: K.Bryant 31points/11ast on 11/20 FG

Recap: The Lakers dominated Game 2. Kobe Bryant had a big game, as he scored at will and found open players off the Hornet double-teams. On the other end, the Lakers defense was very tough holding the Hornets to 83. The Lakers take a 2-0 lead in the series.

Game 3: Lakers 101, at Hornets 98

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8048235&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: K.Bryant 29points/11reb on 9/18 FG

Recap: In a close Game 3 the Lakers pulled out ahead with a 101-98 win. The Lakers led by as many as 15 in the 3rd, but the Hornets battled back and took a lead in the 4th. The Lakers closed out strong and now have a 3-0 lead in the series.

Game 4: Lakers 109, at Hornets 100

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8048270&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: K.Bryant 34points/9reb/5ast

Recap: The Lakers sweep the Hornets 4-0. It is the 1st sweep of the tounament. It was another tough fought game in New Orleans, but the Lakers came up on top again with a great performance by Bryant and another strong performance by Gasol/Bynum. With a healthy Bynum, the Lakers really do look scary.

2 2005 San Antonio Spurs

vs.

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ta/thumb/d/d2/Minnesota_Timberwolves_logo.png/200px-Minnesota_Timberwolves_logo.png

15 2002 Minnesota Timberwolves

Preview: The 2005 Spurs finished 59-23 and went on to become NBA Champions. Many consider this San Antonio Spurs team to be the best of the championship Spur teams. They were led by Duncan, Ginobili, Parker all in their primes. They had a very elite defense and had enough fire-power on offense to keep up with anyone. Definately will be a tough team to eliminate.

The 2002 Timberwolves was anchored by a prime Kevin Garnett. They won 50 games in the tough west but were eliminated in the 1st round. Garnett was excellent, but besides for him Wally and Billups were serviceable role-players. However still not a talented enough supporting cast for Garnett.

Duncan vs. Garnett. That will be the matchup to watch this series. Duncan obviously has more help which gives the Spurs a major edge. Bowen will likely be on Wally the entire series trying to take him out. Garnett will need a big series for the Timberwolves to have a shot. But our 1st upset looks unlikely here.

Game 1: at Spurs 108, Timberwolves 94

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8060348&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: M.Ginobili 24pts/8reb/5ast on 7/14 FG

Recap: The Spurs start the series strong playing well on both ends leading to the Game 1 victory. Duncan and Ginobili were huge today each scoring 24 points and playing well on both ends. The Spurs also had 22 offensive rebounds and turned it over just 6 times.

Game 2: at Spurs 104, Timberwolves 95

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8060354&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: T.Duncan 32pts/14reb on 14/24 FG

Recap: The Spurs take a 2-0 lead behind a huge game by Tim Duncan. Garnett-Duncan had a classic duel, Duncan finished with 32/14 while Garnett had 28/16. The Timberwolves battled hard today keeping the game close all the way until the end, however the Spurs pulled away once again.

Game 3: Spurs 102, at Timberwolves 70

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8060369&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: M.Ginobili 16pts/9reb on 7/14 FG

Recap: After a tough defensive 1st half, the Spurs absolutely dominated the 2nd half. It almost appeared as if the Timberwolves had given up as they scored just 32 points in the 2nd half. The Spurs had a nice balanced effort again on offense and look to sweep the Wolves.

Game 4: at Timberwolves 96, Spurs 94

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8060379&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: K.Garnett 23pts/18reb/4stl/3blk

Recap: [/B] The Timberwolves avoid a sweep and make the series 3-1. Garnett had a big effort, especially on defense keeping the Timberwolves alive in the series. The game was close throughout, but the Wolves just wanted it more today.

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8060396&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Not to mention their defense was too strong

Garnett shot .405% from the field, averaged 3 tpg, and attempted only 9 total free throws, 7 of the attempts coming in one game. He had more 3pt attempts than free throw attempts and made one less 3pter than free throw.

vs.

http://cdn.bleacherreport.net/images_root/slides/photos/000/290/406/atlanta_hawks_logo_display_image.gif

14 2009 Atlanta Hawks

Preview: The 2006 Mavericks went 60-22 and were 6 minutes of good defensive basketball from taking a 3-0 lead in the finals and winning the NBA championship. They were led by superstar Dirk Nowitzki, one of the best players in this entire tournament. He had a good supporting cast around him: Jason Terry, Josh Howard, and Devin Harris were some of the other stars on this team. Overall the Mavericks believe they are a championship team, lets see if they play like one.

The 2009 Atlanta Hawks went 47-35 in the regular season and were a very talented team. They went past the 1st round in the playoffs before falling in the 2nd. Joe Johnson was this team

Game 1: at Mavericks 84, Hawks 81

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8073411&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: J.Terry 18pts/7ast GW

Recap: The Mavericks and the Hawks got caught in a defensive game 1, but Jason Terry like he always has came to the rescue. With the Mavericks down 79-75 with 2 and half minutes left, Jason Terry hit 3 threes in the final 2 and a half minutes, including the game-winner with just 2 seconds left to win the game for Dallas. Both teams hope to get their offenses started Game 2.

Game 2: Hawks 100, at Mavericks 88

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8073530&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: J.Smith 20pts/6reb/2blk on 7/14 FG

Recap: The Hawks take Game 2 of the best out of 7 series with another strong defensive performance and found their offensive touch. The Hawks defense once again made it difficult for Nowitzki to score as Nowitzki was only able to get off 13 FGAs. Dirk is averaging just 15.5ppg this series as it is now all tied up 1-1.

Game 3: Mavericks 100, at Hawks 95

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8073561&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: D.Nowitzki 27pts/10reb/7ast

Recap: The Mavericks needed more out of Dirk and today Dirk gave them more. Nowitzki was much more aggressive throughout the game and led all scorers with 27pts. He had 10 in the 4th including a dagger 3pointer with 30 seconds left to put the game out of reach. The Mavericks regain the lead in the series 2-1.

Game 4: Mavericks 105, at Hawks 99

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8073586&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: D.Nowitzki 30pts/9reb

Recap: [/B] The Mavericks prevail on the road again with a tough 105-99 victory over the Hawks. After allowing 64 points in the 1st half, the Mavericks played much tougher defense and allowed just 35 in the 2nd half. Nowitzki led the way again for Dallas with 30 points giving the Mavericks a 3-1 lead in the series.

Game 5: at Mavericks 105, Hawks 97

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8073597&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: D.Nowitzki 35pts/13reb

Recap: The Mavericks and the Hawks had another thriller that came down to the last few minutes, but for the 3rd game in a row the Mavericks pulled away again. In fact that is how Mavericks won all 4 of their games in the series, winning the battle in the closing minutes. Nowitzki was once again big as the Mavericks win in 5.

4 2009 Orlando Magic

vs.

http://www.noticiassin.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/new_jersey_nets-300x300.gif

13 2006 New Jersey Nets

Preview: The 2009 Orlando Magic went 59-23 reaching the NBA Finals before falling to the 09 Lakers. They were led by Dwight Howard, who was as good as he has ever been in this season. Apart from Dwight Howard they had many 3pt shooters which could spread the floor. Howard plus good shooters all-around made this team tough to defend.

The 2006 Nets went 49-33 in the regular season before falling to the eventual champion Miami Heat in the 2nd round. They had a big 3 in New Jersey: Kidd, Jefferson, and Carter. All 3 of these players were still in their primes and could still play well. Having a big 3 like this makes the Nets a dangerous team.

This could be an interesting series. The Nets will have to slow down Howard, they have players like Kristic and Jason Collins they can throw at him, but that might not be above. On the other hand the Magic need a way to stop the perimeter offense generated by Jefferson and Carter, they have Courtney Lee but that is probably not enough. It will be interesting to see how this series turns out.

Game 1: at Magic, 107, Nets 92

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8091362&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: D.Howard 36pts/19reb on 15/24 FG

Recap: Game 1 was all Dwight Howard. He dominated on the offensive end as the Nets bigmen had no answer for him. Jason Collins was his primary defender and he finished with more fouls than points and rebounds combined. VC was good on the losing effort finishing with 31/6/6.

Game 2: Nets 91, at Magic 84

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8091383&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: R.Jefferson 24pts/11reb

Recap: The Nets fight back and take Game 2 of this series. They won this game with great defense, especially on Dwight Howard who after dominating Game 1 was limited to 14pts in Game 2 as they double-teamed him much more. Jefferson was quiet in Game 1 but played great in Game 2 tying up the series heading back to NJ.

Game 3: Magic 95, at Nets 80

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8091414&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: D.Howard 24pts/19reb/3blk on 9/13 FG

Recap: With the series tied up 1-1 the Magic went back and played excellent defense. Dwight Howard anchored the effort as the Nets scored just 29pts in the 1st half. VC struggled once again going 6/19 while Kidd has been off all series. The Nets will need to play better offense to win this series.

Game 4: at Nets 101, Magic 85

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8091424&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: J.Kidd 18pts/9reb/8ast

Recap: The Nets even up the series at 2-2 with a great performance in Game 2. They found their offensive rythm today as they were in control most of the game and pulled away in the 4th. They also did a good job on defense holding Dwight to 9/21 shooting.

Game 5: at Magic 108, Nets 83

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8091430&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: D.Howard 20pts/18reb/3blk

Recap: In a crucial Game 5 the Magic absolutely dominated. This series is now going back and forth with blowouts. The Magic were excellent on both ends of the floor as the Nets overall shot just 34% from the field. The Nets offense has been the difference between winning and losing so far for the Nets.

Game 6: Magic 108, at Nets 102

Box Score:http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8091448&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: D.Howard 29pts/20reb on 14/25 FG

Recap: The Magic finish the series just like they started them with Dwight Howard having a dominant Game. He has been a trouble for the Nets all series and today it led to their fall. Howard had a 20-20 in a close game throughout. The Nets started out with a 31-18 lead in the 1st but the Magic slowly battled back winning it at the end with good 3pt shooting in the 4th.

12 2006 Los Angeles Clippers

Preview: The 2001 Philadelphia 76ers went 56-26 in the regular season in 2001 before losing to the red hot Lakers in the finals. This team was built around MVP Allen Iverson, he did almost everything for them on offense while the rest of the players complimented him very good. One of the other pieces on this team was Dikembe Mutombo. He was the DPOY this year and anchored this team

6 2008 Detroit Pistons

vs.

http://cbsmix965houston.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/rockets-logo.jpg

11 2007 Houston Rockets

Preview: The 2008 Detroit Pistons went 59-23 before losing to the Boston Celtics in the ECF. This was actually the final season of the Piston’s dynasty. Their run of consecutive ECF appearances had ended. Billups also left the next year. Nonetheless, even this year they were a good team capable of giving anyone fits.

The 2007 Houston Rockets went 52-30 before losing in the 1st round. They were of course led by McGrady-Yao, both still very much in their primes. Both had big seasons, though both were still injury prone. Besides for McGrady-Yao they had 3 other players in double figures and played excellent defense.

The Pistons will obviously need to contain McGrady and Ming. Prince will probably guarding McGrady most of the series while McDyess/Sheed will try to contain Yao. Both averaged nearly 25ppg so it will be tough to stop both. The Pistons played good consistent offense so the Rockets strong defense will need to do whatever it can to stop them. Expect a good series.

Game 1: Rockets 89, at Pistons 80

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8125602&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: Y.Ming 21pts/18reb/4blk

Recap: The Rockets swarming defense got them the road Game 1 win. The Pistons scored just 80 points and were held to 37% shooting tonight. McGrady and Yao both struggled today thanks to the Piston defense, but that is not going to be enough to beat Houston. Detroit will have to get some answers on offense too.

Game 2: at Pistons 100, Rockets 99 (OT)

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8125608&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: C.Billups 19pts/11ast on 7/11 FG

Recap: The Rockets blow a 13 point lead with just 5 minutes left in the game and choke a game in OT where they scored just 4 points. Chancey Billups hit a big 3 to tie it up with less than 30 seconds left to force OT. In overtime the Rockets could not score the ball and McGrady

vs.

http://cf.juggle-images.com/matte/white/280x280/phoenix-suns-primary-logo-2-primary.jpg

10 2000 Phoenix Suns

Preview: The 2009 Denver Nuggets went 54-28 before losing to the LA Lakers in the WCF. They made it a tough series for the Lakers in the WCF but fell short. They were led by of course Carmelo Anthony who was easily the leader of this team. They also had star guard Billups who had been traded and was a big contributer. Besides for that a lot of depth and its not surprise why any team would have trouble with the Nuggets.

The 2000 Phoenix Suns went 53-29 in the regular season before losing to the 2000 Lakers in the 2nd round. This team was led by Jason Kidd, he was the heart and soul of the team. Besides for Kidd they had a total of 6 players in double-figures led by Clifford Robinson and Hardaway. So overall, this team did not have big scorers, but more of a balance approach on offense.

The main matchup in this series will be Billups vs. Kidd. Billups did a good job outplaying Paul so and old Kidd in his run in the playoffs so it could be interesting. The Suns have depth but they will need an answer for Carmelo, which may be tough to find. I expect another tough series which could go to 7.

Game 1: Suns 93, at Nuggets 77

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8172786&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: J.Kidd 16pts/9reb/7ast

Recap: The Suns play excellent defense in Game 1 on the road to win it. They hold the Nuggets to 77 points, including defending Carmelo to 6/20 shooting. Billups also struggled going just one of 8 from the field. On offense the Suns had a balanced attack but when they play defense this good it doesn’t matter.

Game 2: at Nuggets 99, Suns 90

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8172798&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: N.Hilario 17pts/18reb on 5/7 FG

Recap: In a great effort by both teams on defense, the Nuggets finally won the hard fought physical battle. The Suns did a good job roughing up Melo and Billups again as they combined just 10/37, but the Nuggets found a way to win matchup the Suns physical play with their own in Game 2.

Game 3: at Suns 96, Nuggets 68

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8172843&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: J.Kidd 12pts/11reb/10ast

Recap: The Suns continue to stuff the Nuggets offense as they take a 2-1 lead. The Nuggets scored just 68 points tonight, with only 25 in the 1st half as they had nothing going. Billups and Carmelo continue to play terrible this series as the tough physical play of the Suns as been too much for them. Kidd led the way for the Suns recording a triple-double.

Game 4: at Suns 117, Nuggets 75

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8172861&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: J.Kidd 16pts/8ast/6reb

Recap: The Suns blow out the Nuggets by 42 points in Game 4 as the Nuggets look like they have given up at this point. The Nuggets continued their offensive struggles shooting just 33% from the field, and this game they did not even show much effort on defense. Melo needs a big Game 5 to keep the Nuggets alive.

Game 5: Suns 99, at Nuggets 92

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8172880&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: J.Kidd 15pts/12ast

Recap: Trailing most of the game, the Suns just hung in there. And in the 4th, they finally overlapped the Nuggets and took the game and the series. The Suns once again defended very well, this has been the storyline of the series. They played good enough offense and on defense were just too much for the Nuggets. They advance to the 2nd round.

9 2000 Utah Jazz

Preview: The 2007 Cleveland Cavaliers went 50-32 in the regular season before losing to the Spurs in the NBA Finals. They were of course led by LeBron James, who makes his 2nd team entry into this tournament. The Cavaliers had a few upsets in their path to the finals, which is why they are a respectable 8th seed. They played strong defense and had a superstar who is as good as anyone.

The 2000 Utah Jazz went 55-27 in the regular season before losing to the Blazers in the 2nd round. They were led by Karl Malone, who was still one of the best players in the NBA at this point. Stockton was 37 years old in 2000 but as good as any 37 year old PG we

8 2007 Cleveland Cavaliers

Preview: The 2009 finished 65-17 and were as good as they got. They were probably the best Kobe Bryant led team. Kobe Bryant had an exceptional year still in his prime at age 30, he also played with a very talented roster. They had another All-Star in Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum, Trevor Ariza, and Lamar Odom. A very scary frontcourt with Kobe Bryant on the perimeter, this Laker team went on and won the NBA Championship.

The Lakers cruised through the 1st round sweeping the Hornets in 4 games. The Cavaliers impressed winning a series most probably had them to lose beating the 2000 Jazz in 6 games. We finally have a Kobe vs. LeBron matchup in a series. Kobe led the way for the Lakers averaging 29.2 ppg in round 1 in an all-around performance. The Cavaliers will most likely stick Hughes to slow Kobe down, Hughes defended Stockton well in Round 1 so he could give Kobe problems along with some double-teams. LeBron averaged 24.8ppg on 46.9% shooting, Byron Russell did a decent job on him. This series he will be guarded mixes of Kobe Bryant and Trevor Ariza. Both are better defenders than Russell so LeBron will need to perform better. If the Cavaliers want to win this series, LeBron needs to be huge. This is a fact. Kobe is already an amazing player and he has a great supporting cast, Bynum is healthy and Gasol is one of the best PFs in the game. This makes this 2009 Lakers team very loaded and makes them very good.

Game 1: Cavaliers 92, at Lakers 89

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8192854&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: L.James 21pts/5reb

Recap: The Cavaliers go into Los Angeles and stun the Lakers Game 1. They got off to a strong start and had a 15 point lead in the 1st quarter. The Lakers eventually tied it up and with 30 seconds left the game was tied at 89-89. But Hughes came up big in the clutch with a jumper and Kobe turned it over in the last possession for the Lakers. The Cavaliers played the tough defensive type of basketball that made them succesful in the 1st round.

Game 2: at Lakers 100, Cavaliers 93

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8192922&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: P.Gasol 19pts/9reb/5ast/5blk on 8/14 FG

Recap: The Lakers win a must-win game for themselves to even the series at 1-1. This game also came down to the final minutes of the 4th quarter but clutch shots by various Laker players gave them the win. Kobe and LeBron struggled shooting today, Kobe went 10/29 while LeBron went 10/26. Pau Gasol was just great all-around a big reason the Lakers were able to pull through.

Hornets make adjustments to give more minutes to Chandler and Paul.

Game 3: Lakers 122, at Cavaliers 91

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8192951&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: K.Bryant 45pts/8reb on 16/26 FG

Recap: The Lakers finally play up to their full potential as Kobe Bryant put on a display. He scored a tournament high 45 points on one of the toughest defenses in the tournament. The Lakers were also strong defensively forcing 25 TOs.

Game 4: at Cavaliers 112, Lakers 105

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8192971&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: D.Gooden 24pts/11reb on 8/12 FG

Recap: The Cavs and the Lakers got involved in a shootout this game as both teams went at it back and forth in this close game. However the Cavs pulled away near the end to tie up the series at 2-2. LeBron James had a triple-double while Gooden added a 20-10 game. Pau Gasol had his best game of the series but unfortunately it was in a losing effort.

Game 5: at Lakers 104, Cavaliers 103

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8192996&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: L.Odom 22pts/13reb on 10/14 FG

Recap: The Lakers win yet another thrilling game in this series. The Cavaliers once again gave it all they had on the road, they started the game strong with a 14 point lead in the 1st, the Lakers fought back for a classic 4th quarter in this one. James scored 18 of his 26 points in the 4th quarter, including a huge jumper that gave the Cavs a 100-99 lead with just 1 minute remaining. But Trevor Ariza hit a huge 3 pointer, his 1st FG of the game, to give the Lakers the lead back. James tried to go for the win with a 3 but missed and that was the game. Kobe, Gasol, Odom, and Bynum had over 20 points in this one.

Game 6: Lakers 105, at Cavaliers 92

Box Score:http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8193053&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: P.Gasol 16pts/12reb/5ast

Recap: The Lakers close out the series avoiding a Game 7. They played excellent defense today holding the Cavs to 36% shooting and making James struggle again. Ultimately the Lakers just had too many weapons making it very tough on the Cavs defense to get some stops. But they played the series tough.

No surprise there. I think the 2007 Spurs are better than the 2009 Lakers, but not a lot better, so I figured the 2009 Lakers would beat a team the 2007 Spurs swept.

2 2005 San Antonio Spurs

vs.

http://cf.juggle-images.com/matte/white/280x280/phoenix-suns-primary-logo-2-primary.jpg

10 2000 Phoenix Suns

Preview: The 2005 Spurs finished 59-23 and went on to become NBA Champions. Many consider this San Antonio Spurs team to be the best of the championship Spur teams. They were led by Duncan, Ginobili, Parker all in their primes. They had a very elite defense and had enough fire-power on offense to keep up with anyone. Definately will be a tough team to eliminate.

The San Antonio Spurs advanced easily in round 1 beating the Timberwolves in 5 games. The Suns also were winners in Round 1 beating the Nuggets in 5 games. Thus, both teams had it in control in round 1 and now face off in round 2. The Suns physical style of play absolutely crushed the Nuggets. Melo and Billups were held to just 28% shooting combined, that is just awful. This is not good new for Parker and Ginobili who both shot over 50% in Round 1 and will be crucial in this series as well. The Spurs themselves are a strong defensive team so we could see a tough defensive series here. Many think the Suns looked liked the best lower seed in Round 1 and this could mean a potential upset here. It could come down to how well the superstars Duncan and Kidd play in this series.

Game 1: at Spurs 111, Suns 90

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8202698&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: T.Duncan 25pts/18reb/5blk on 11/20 FG

Recap: Tough defensive series? The Spurs did not feel that way Game 1 as they had no problem on offense. The Suns did a good job limiting Ginobili and Parker, but they had not faced a strong big man in the 1st round. And that was all the difference, as Duncan had no problem dominating Game 1 for the Spurs.

Game 2: at Spurs 102, Suns 77

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8202703&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: M.Ginobili 21pts/7reb/6ast

Recap: The Spurs take a 2-0 lead in the series with a strong defensive performance. The Suns did a good job of limtiing the Spurs big 3, Duncan went just 7/21. But Barry had a huge performance off the bench with 20, and the Spurs overall played great defense anchored by Tim Duncan.

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8202704&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: J.Kidd 11pts/12reb/15ast

Recap: The Suns played great at home in the 1st round, and they continue doing that in the 2nd round. They played excelletn defense holding the Spurs below 37% shooting in this win. Tony Parker really struggled going just 4/15 this game. Jason Kidd on the other hand had a triple-double.

Another close 7 game series where HCA made all the difference. Tim Duncan had a monster series in this one to get the Spurs past.

LeBron did not play up to his level, nonetheless I think as a team they did good making it to the 2nd round.
Yeah, the raw number 24-8-7 statline looks really good, but the 4 turnovers per game and .431/.245/.678 shooting line is awful.

http://cbsmix965houston.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/rockets-logo.jpg

11 2007 Houston Rockets

Preview: The 2006 Mavericks went 60-22 and were 6 minutes of good defensive basketball from taking a 3-0 lead in the finals and winning the NBA championship. They were led by superstar Dirk Nowitzki, one of the best players in this entire tournament. He had a good supporting cast around him: Jason Terry, Josh Howard, and Devin Harris were some of the other stars on this team. Overall the Mavericks believe they are a championship team, lets see if they play like one.

The 2006 Dallas Mavericks advanced past the 1st round in 5 games against the Atlanta Hawks. They were led by Dirk Nowitzki who averaged 24.8ppg and was their MVP. The Rockets had a tough series that went to 7 where they upset the Pistons. The McGrady and Ming combination led this one as they combined over 50 points per game. In this series the Mavericks will need an answer for McGrady and Ming, they have a lot of bigs and wings to throw at them. Houston is a tough defensive team and they will have to hope their defense can slow down Dallas

12 2006 Los Angeles Clippers

Preview: The 2009 Orlando Magic went 59-23 reaching the NBA Finals before falling to the 09 Lakers. They were led by Dwight Howard, who was as good as he has ever been in this season. Apart from Dwight Howard they had many 3pt shooters which could spread the floor. Howard plus good shooters all-around made this team tough to defend.

The 2006 Los Angeles Clippers went 47-35 in the regular season before losing a tough 7 game series against the Phoenix Suns. This team was led by Elton Brand playing the best basketball of his career along with Chris Kaman. Both of these made a formidable inside presence. They also had other key pieces like Sam Cassell and Corey Maggete. Overall the Clippers struggled in the 2000s, but this was one Clipper team that actually played well.

4 2009 Orlando Magic

Preview: The 2009 finished 65-17 and were as good as they got. They were probably the best Kobe Bryant led team. Kobe Bryant had an exceptional year still in his prime at age 30, he also played with a very talented roster. They had another All-Star in Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum, Trevor Ariza, and Lamar Odom. A very scary frontcourt with Kobe Bryant on the perimeter, this Laker team went on and won the NBA Championship.

The 2009 Orlando Magic went 59-23 reaching the NBA Finals before falling to the 09 Lakers. They were led by Dwight Howard, who was as good as he has ever been in this season. Apart from Dwight Howard they had many 3pt shooters which could spread the floor. Howard plus good shooters all-around made this team tough to defend.

Botht the Lakers and the Magic have gone 8-2 in the 1st 2 rounds of the tournament. The Lakers swept the 03 Hornets 4-0 and beat the 07 Cavs in 6 games. The Magic beat the 06 Nets in 6 games and then went on to sweep the 06 Clippers. This matchup is the 1st matchup that actually happened in real-life. The 09 Lakers beat the 09 Magic in the finals in 5 games. But things are a little different, both Nelson and Bynum played hurt in that series and could not contribute much. Bynum has contributed more in this run for the Lakers averaging around 14/8 while Jameer Nelson has contributed 16/7 for the Magic. The real matchup though will once again center around the superstars Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard. Both these teams are loaded and it will be a good rematch of the finals.

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8330635&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: K.Bryant 32ps/8reb and G-W

Recap: The Lakers take Game 1 of the series following a game winning jumpshot by Kobe Bryant to put the Lakers ahead 102-100 with just 20 seconds left in the game. The Magic had one more chance to tie it but Dwight Howard traveled and that was game. Kobe was huge with 32 points while the Lakers did a good job limiting Howard to just 15 points. The Magic attempted 44 threes this game.

Game 2: at Lakers 96, Magic 91

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8330663&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: K.Bryant 37pts on 15/23 FG

Recap: The Los Angles Lakers take Game 2 of the series in another close win. With about a minute remaining and the game tied at 88-88 it was Kobe Bryant who once again saved the day for the Lakers with 2 clutch shots to give the Lakers a 92-88 lead and the win. He finished overall with 37 points having a great series so far. The Lakers played great team defense holding Orlando to just 38% shooting and Dwight Howard to just 13 points.

Magic higher the minutes of their stars with the season becoming on the line. They also higher the minutes of Pietrus and Lee to help play defense on Kobe

Game 3: at Magic 97, Lakers 92

Player of the Game: D.Howard 26pts/18reb on 13/20 FG

Recap: The Magic return back home and get their 1st win of the series. Dwight Howard finally came alive as they needed him to tonight in another nail-biter. Howard was the difference between a win and a loss with a huge 26/18 performance. The Magic also played much better defense on Kobe holding him to 21 points and forcing 11 TOs out of him with their constant double-teams. Gasol was quite again as Dwight Howard continues to do a great job defending him.

Lakers higher the minutes of their players of their stars as the series becomes closer

Game 4: at Magic 95, Lakers 94

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8330704&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: J.Nelson 19pts/7ast and G-W

Recap: Jameer Nelson’s buzzer beating 3 pointer ties the series at 2-2. The Lakers had a golden oppurtunity to win this game as Dwight Howard played just 21 minutes due to foul trouble. The Lakers realized this was their game to win when they were down 92-81 with 3 minutes left in the game, they went on a 13-0 run to take the 94-92 lead with 2 seconds remaining, but Jameer Nelson and the Magic had 1 more chance to win it and they did. Great game overall, Gasol finally came alive as Orlando continues to defend Kobe well.

Both teams higher the minutes of their stars as the series is tied up in a close 2-2 that can go either way now

Good series so far

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8330737&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: K.Bryant 26pts/10ast/9reb

Recap: The Lakers take a 3-2 lead in the series in what was the 1st comfortable win for either team of the series. The Lakers had a double-digit lead most of the game and took this one with ease. Bryant and Gasol led the way while Bynum was huge today adding 18pts/9reb. The Lakers overall played good defense holding Orlando to 41% shooting.

Game 6: Lakers 124, Magic 115

Box Score:http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8330754&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: P.Gasol 19pts/15reb/5ast

Recap: The Lakers dominate the Orlando Magic in Game 6 as the Magic it seemed came with a lack of effort tonite. The Lakers dropped 45 points in the 1st quarter and led by 21 at halftime. They also led by 23 entering the 4th as the Magic getting hot was too late at that point. Kobe led the way with 25points, Gasol had 19/15, and Bynum also was huge with a 25/10 night making his impact in the series. Overall, a very dissapointing defensive effort for Orlando in this loss.

2 2005 San Antonio Spurs

vs.

http://bi.gazeta.pl/im/8/7636/z7636898M.jpg

3 2006 Dallas Mavericks

Preview: The 2005 Spurs finished 59-23 and went on to become NBA Champions. Many consider this San Antonio Spurs team to be the best of the championship Spur teams. They were led by Duncan, Ginobili, Parker all in their primes. They had a very elite defense and had enough fire-power on offense to keep up with anyone. Definately will be a tough team to eliminate.

The 2006 Mavericks went 60-22 and were 6 minutes of good defensive basketball from taking a 3-0 lead in the finals and winning the NBA championship.

Big series coming up here. The Spurs easily advanced in Round 1 but were taken to 7 games by the 00 Suns in a very physical series. The Mavericks won in 5 games both round 1 and round 2 and have not really been challenged going overall 8-2 in the 1st 2 rounds. Now they face off here. The Spurs are so far 7-0 at home in the 1st 2 rounds, meaning if Dallas wants to win, they need a road win. Luckily they have played well on the road so far in this tournament. This could arguably the best Spurs and Mavericks roster in the entire tournament. San Antonio were champions, but the Mavericks beat this Spurs team the next year and came very close to winning the title themselves.

Player of the Game: T.Duncan 18pts/9reb/3blk on 9/16 FG

Recap: The Spurs take Game 1 from the series as they play excellent defense and have a team effort on offense to win it. Ginobili led the Spurs with 20, Duncan had 18, and Parker had 10 assists. Dirk Nowitzki had a big game finishing with 34pts/10reb but he did not have much help at all.

Player of the Game: T.Parker 26pts/5ast on 11/19 FG

Recap: The Spurs dominate Game 2. Their formula of success worked once again as they played great defense and followed with good team offense. The Mavericks story was also similar as Nowitzki had another great team but his supporting cast was weak. The Mavericks have the help for Dirk but it just hasn

Game 3: at Mavericks 96, Spurs 85

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8363557&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: D.Nowitzki 23pts/19reb

Recap: The Mavericks get their 1st win of the series as they stepped up their efforts on defense to do so. Dirk Nowitzki continues to work hard out there and have a great series for the Dallas Mavericks. The Spurs struggled on offense and that led to their loss. Both Parker and Ginobili were in the single digits.

Spurs up the minutes of their stars as well.

Recap: The Spurs win the big one the road to take a 3-1 lead in the series. Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili each had their best game of the series coming off their worst. This was needed to fight back against the added pressure by Dallas. Nowitzki was well guarded and the Spurs offense shot 50% as a team as the Spurs look to advance.

South Region Finale:

1 2009 LA Lakers vs. 2 2005 SA Spurs

Going to be a great finale champions vs. champions. My prediction is the Lakers were too loaded and with a healthy Bynum and HCA might be too much for SA.

2 2005 San Antonio Spurs

Preview: The 2009 Lakers finished 65-17 and were as good as they got.

The 2005 Spurs finished 59-23 and went on to become NBA Champions. Many consider this San Antonio Spurs team to be the best of the championship Spur teams. They were led by Duncan, Ginobili, Parker all in their primes. They had a very elite defense and had enough fire-power on offense to keep up with anyone. Definitely will be a tough team to eliminate.

The battle of the region everyone has been waiting for. Definitely probably the 2 best teams in the region. Both teams won the NBA championship. The Lakers have gone 12-4 in the 1st 2 rounds knocking off the Hornets, 07 Cavs, and the 09 Magic. Bynum healthy has made a impact and made this team even tougher to beat. The 05 Spurs have been led by Duncan and gone 12-5 in the 1st 2 rounds. Both teams were champions and this is going to make this battle extra tough.

Game 1: at Lakers 91, Spurs 83

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8897153&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: A.Bynum 18pts/19reb on 7/9 FG

Recap: The Lakers take a 1-0 lead in the series behind some tough defense. Bynum makes a difference with 18/19, the Spurs did a good job defending Kobe holding him to 20pts on 7/21 but Kobe had 18 of those in the 2nd half. The Spurs shot just 39% and scored just 34 points in the 2nd half.

Game 2: at Lakers 91, Spurs 82

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8897164&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: L.Odom 14pts/12reb

Recap: The Lakers take a 2-0 lead in the series behind another strong defensive performance and strong rebounding. Both teams shot below 38%, Kobe struggled again going just 7/25 as the Bruce Bowen has frustrated him thus far, but the Spurs still find themselves down 2-0. The Lakers frontcourt seems to be too much so far as they outrebound SA 59-49 and look to take the series to SA where the Spurs have not lost in this tournament.

Spurs higher the minutes of their stars down 2-0

Game 3: at Spurs 84, Lakers 82

Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore.asp?GameID=8897177&nomenu=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: T.Duncan 26pts/18reb/5ast/4blk

Recap: The Spurs keep alive in the series barely winning Game 3. It was a tough defensive battle both teams playing great defense, but Tim Duncan

Closer series than it looked, each game was decided in single digits, but the Lakers were just too stacked. Spurs coming in were 10-0 at home and 2-5 on the road, Kobe with that big game-winner in Game 4 ended the Spurs home streak and pretty much their run.

The 2009 Lakers are the official champions of the South Region
