It's tough because Kobe has the rings, but LeBron has won the MVPs. Honestly though, this LeBron is better than any version of Kobe. The awards are fairly even, so I gotta go with LeBron.

4 x season MVPs (2 each with different franchises)

2 x MVP sweeps (only Russell, Jordan, LBJ did it)

2 x SOLID Fmvps.

1 x Rookie of the yr

1 x SOLID Fmvp

Not much comparison. Its a CLEAN SWEEP for LBJ.

If we are talking career accolades, I can understand why some have Kobe higher. Even though LeBron has the same number of titles as the man, not to mention several more MVPs. But in terms of who the better player was? Its LeBron by a good amount.

kobe, but this version of lebron is as good or better than any version of kobe. but you're kidding yourself if you think that if 05-06 and 06-07 kobe had a top 2 small forward and a top 5 big and was also surrounded by good role players he wouldn't have won titles

but kobe had smush parker, luke walton and kwame brown in his starting 5 during his peak

I don't deny that at all. But Wade/Bosh's impact his postseason and been overrated by some. Im a LeBron fan, obviously. But aside from PJR, EnoughSaid, DaSeba, and that jrong weirdo, I have stuck up for Wade a lot. The guy deserves props for his game 4 and game 7 in the Finals. But LeBron did a ton of heavy lifting this postseason. Even more than last season imo. And my dead grandmother and Bosh combined to drop the same amount of Game 7 points. Again, im not saying they are overrated. Wade is obviously hurt. But I expect more than zero points out of Bosh.

how is this even arguable as a player? Scorer? Lebron is a ton more efficient, he could have scored more than Kobe if he was a chucker too, passing? Not even close, rebounding? Not even close, defending? Kobe in his Kobe/shaq days was a better on ball defender than current Lebron but lebrons a better help defender and Kobe was never that guy again after he had to carry the huge burden offensively.

If you have LeBron James on your team your guaranteed to have deep playoff runs and be a contender no matter who else is on the team. Guy was winning over Vegas with Mo Williams as his best teammate. :oldlol:

Kobe can't make your team relevant unless you give him hall of fame 7 footers in their prime combined with the greatest coach in NBA History. Without both of those things your just a typical irrelevant first round team.

All Kobe gives you is scoring(at an inefficient clip). LeBron scores just as much on much better efficiency, also can be an elite rebounder, an elite facilitator, and can shut down anyone on the court minus 7 footers. Best perimeter help defender of all-time too.

This question is an insult to LeBron.

I'm actually starting to agree. With everything stated here upon retrospect and further evaluation, I can't argue. LeBron is the greatest perimeter player since Jordan. Probably the second best all-time, too.

From a resume perspective, now that he has 2 rings and 2x Finals MVPs ... the weight of Kobe's rings don't negate LeBron having 3 more MVPs, and just as many Finals MVPs as "the man" for his team.

I think LeBron at any point in his career would've been able to win rings with Shaq at his peak.

Does it matter? He's regarded as clearly the best player in the world right now by hall of famers/people that matter. I don't recall Kobe ever being a clear cut best player in the league at any point. And why does he need 5 to even be CONSIDERED by you? He gets one more ring he's definitely passing Kobe up no contest.

Kobe played with prime Shaq and Duncan in the league. If prime Shaq, Duncan, and Kobe were all in the league right now, Lebron wouldn't be the clear cut best player. There would be no clear cut best player.

28/7/7/1.7/.8 with 3.3 topg on 49/34/75 shooting l. Clear winner.

Or playoff numbers if you wish
26/5/5/1.4/.7 with 2.9 topg on 45/33/82
28/9/7/1.7/.9 with 3.5 topg on 47/32/75 again clear winner

So rings earned on the court in achieving the ultimate goal for any player are equal to an award given out by 100 sports writers, a majority of them that only see the player play a handful of times a year
