Dwight has a decision to make now.

Golden State you get Curry and Iggy.

They must know something because besides having the extra trading piece(s), does this make their team better? It may actually stunt the growth of their young stars.

how? Klay, Barnes, and Iggy can all rotate equally and get ~30 mins each. All 3 can get 35+ mins especially if Barnes plays 4 in smaller line ups.

I don't really like this deal. To me iggy is a guy who relies heavily on his athleticism. He's a poor dribbler and not a good shooter. He is a good team guy and he's not selfish but I don't think of him as a huge upgrade for them. He's 29 and is going to start declining soon. He'll be fine this year and probably the next but I don't see this as a signing that puts this team over the top. He's great in transition but you don't want him to take a bunch of threes. He's a good defender but I just don't see this signing as having a huge impact. I thought they had analytic guys in their FO. Anyway, he lost 8 millions not signing w the kings.

Agreed. I think about how Barnes was so effective as the 4 against the spurs, and it was his versatility offensively that helped the warriors so much, even when Thompson and Curry weren't at their best. I don't see Iguodala giving the warriors the advantages that Barnes and Thompson give.

I mean Iggy provides the defense that Mark Jackson would love. Something Barnes nor Thompson provide. But I still like the youngsters regardless of their perimeter defense especially Klay/Curry backcourt (defensively). Eh

Don't really like this signing, but it does fill a need for them. If they're able to re-sign Jarrett Jack then I think they could make a WCF push.

Too long and too much money though imo. I don't think Iggy's game will hold up on the other side of 30.

People saying he can't continue to play at a high level in to his 30's look at a guy like marion who is half the shooter that iggy is, both are good passers with high IQ's. If your a defender and not a scorer and thats all you need.

Marion is a better free-throw shooter, has a nice, crafty little post-game and makes less money than Iggy.
I'm not saying he'll all of a sudden become Luke Walton on his 30th birthday, i'm just saying that he's not worth that kind of money now, let alone in 3 years.

He can play point forward. Not sure if they need jack. I'd rather bring back Landry. If they bring back jack and Landry watch out.
Curry.34 Jack 24
Thompson. 34
Iggy. 34 Barnes. 30. Green 0
Lee 32. Landry. 22
Bogut. 30 Ezeli 0

I'm pretty sure Jack will demand too much and Landry has already decided to not re-sign, if memory serves me right. Roster will probably look more like this:

Bogut
D. Lee
Iggy
Klay
Steph
-------
Ezeli
D. Green
Barnes
Bazemore
FA backup PG
Machado

Ezeli, Green, Barnes, whatever PG they sign will still be a heckuva bench.

bdreason

Barnes will still see plenty of playing time (30+) off the bench at SF and PF. Don't forget we lost both Landry and Jack, two players that played significant minutes off the bench.

Now that we have some cap space to play with, I wonder if we make a move at re-signing Jack. I don't think he's signed anywhere yet. I wish Landry had waited, because we probably could have brought him back as well.

The more I think about it, the more I think Barnes will be fine playing 6th man. He's going to be able to come in the game and get plenty of touches and shots at the hoop. We still need a solid backup PG and another rotation big though... I don't want to play Ezili. :oldlol:

Based on my rough calculations, we are at around 58.5m, which puts us right up against the projected cap... but leaves us around 12m under the luxury. I'm expecting us to use both our MLE and Mini-MLE to bring two more players in, which would leave as at around 66-68m payroll... which is actually 2-3m lower than our projected payroll before signing Iggy, and about 2-3m under the luxury tax.

My guess is that we worked the contracts to put us just over the cap. Like I said, my estimation put our payroll right around what the projected cap is for next season.

Based on the moves we just made, I have little doubt we will be using both the MLE and Mini-MLE, moving us closer to our previously projected payroll of 70m (just under the projected luxury).

Iggy isn't really worth more than $10 mil a yr. The guy averages like 14/5/5 with decent defense.

The Golden State Warriors are in advanced discussions on a three-way, sign-and-trade scenario centered on delivering a trade exception and Utah Jazz free agent Randy Foye to the Denver Nuggets, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. Yahoo! Sports

In the deal, which could be finalized on Monday, Denver would sign-and-trade forward Andre Iguodala to Golden State for the four-year, $48 million contract he had agreed to sign with the Warriors. This would create a $12 million trade exception that the Nuggets would have a full year to use before it expires. Utah would sign-and-trade Foye to Denver on a three-year, $9 million deal, with a team option on the third season, sources said. Yahoo! Sports
